what was good about hollywood and vine (specific)

My DD12 and I ate at H&V over Easter for lunch. We didn't go for the characters but they were very good and I think young children would enjoy the interactions. As far as the food goes.... nothing is outstanding in my opinion. I wouldn't pay for this buffet again while at DHS, however we did get full and the food was fine just not memorable. We like Crystal Palace much better, especially the lunch and it is cheaper than H&V.

I can't remember anything being good. I remember that the roast beef tasted like they added wine to flavor it. Not my style. When we returned to our resort a few hours later my DDs asked to eat at WCC because they were hungry. One of them 17 at the time only ate a hot dog at H & V, she didn't care for any of the offerings.

:wizard: I agree that I don't remember anything been particularly good there. It was okay the first year we went so we gave it a try the next year thinking it would be better....we were wrong. The food wasn't great and neither was the service. The buffet wasn't replenished very often and wasn't kept clean the way other buffets at WDW were. I think there are much better places to eat!

We liked breakfast, but I wasn't so crazy over dinner. I didn't hate it, but I don't think I'd go back.

My favorites were (in the lower right of the plate) the meatballs, rolls, and mashed potatoes.

As for dessert, the strawberry shortcake was okay (but not as good as HDDR's), the layered bar cookie was okay too -- both on the bottom part of the plate.

DD6 really liked the meatballs and the corn (just tasted like regular corn to me, but she really liked it). She also like her chicken nuggets.

I had dinner there-chicken was okay and the desserts were okay-one was really good but I can't remember what it was now.

This was one of the best character experiences we had. The kids loved getting up to dance and sing with the characters.

can you suggest a better character lunch? we already have chef mickey and crystal palace.
I thought you were asking about dinner. I have never had lunch at H&V, but we liked breakfast. We have done a late breakfast a couple of times and the character interaction was pretty good. The food was standard breakfast buffet stuff, nothing special or unusual, but you can't really mess up breakfast.

Crystal Palace also serves lunch, and it's pretty good, though I prefer breakfast there as well. Akershus at Epcot has princesses for lunch. I do like that one, but not everyone likes the food choices. CRT serves lunch, though it's 2 credits on the DDP and I didn't really feel it was worth it. The food and character interaction were better at Akershus. I like CRT breakfast better than lunch, but still like Akershus better.

I think those are all the character lunches. Chef Mickey's serves breakfast until 11:30, which is pretty much an early lunch, if a resort meal works for you. 'Ohana, Cape May Cafe and 1900 Park Fare serve breakfast until 11:00, I think.

The desserts are pretty good. Other than that, nothing at all was good (or warm).
