Does AKV concierge contact us for feedback?

We had a wonderful time a few weeks ago staying at AKV concierge. I love that the DVC rooms are on the 6th floor. It was a special trip and I wish we could do it more often (if room ressies for concierge weren't so hard to come by, we would!).

I did come back with one quibble that I'd like to voice to the powers that be, and I assumed that the concierge staff would solicit feedback, so I've been waiting...but wonder if I shouldn't.

If I don't wait...should the feedback go to DVC or Guest Relations, do you think? Did I hear that DVC runs the club level service?

Yep, that'd be nice. I'd like the feedback to get to someone up a level from a CM. Thanks, t

What kind of concern did you have? We had one also when we stayed CL at Jambo. When we stayed in a regular savanna view room, we got the online survey, but the time we stayed Concierge we did NOT get it, and I too had some things I wanted to address.

My issue is that, with all the things they make available for people to grab and take with them throughout the day, bottled water is where they have decided to arbitrarily draw the line.

DH doesn't drink wine, or beer, or cordials, or soda, or coffee, or tea, or perrier...all he wants is cold still water. He gets sick on the Orlando tap water, so we need to have bottled water for him. We were spending at least $10/day in the parks on bottles of water (it was in the mid-90s each day we were there), and it seemed so little to ask that we could have a bottle of water for the room when we were there. They only put two bottles out at a time, and they're room temperature so have to be poured over ice in the small glasses they provide.

Two different CMs on different days told us they weren't supposed to let us have a bottle of water to take to our room. One suggested we go down to the store and buy water if we wanted some in our room. Other CMs were more accomodating when I explained the situation, but they had to put the bottle in a bag and so I felt I was sneaking back to the room with it.

It was very different when we stayed at the Grand Floridian concierge a few years ago. I don't know if the water retention policy is new everywhere, or specific to AK, but I thought it was a shame they made an issue of it.

That was an issue we mentioned last year when we stayed there. No bottled water to take with you. I've stayed on the club level at other hotels (non-WDW) and they had bottled water.

I agree, but never thought to mention it in the survey after our stay in concierge. Bottled water would be great! I also don't drink the soda, beer, etc. Only water.

Please keep in mind that DVC does not run that lounge, and it has nothing to do with DVC except that 5 of our villas happen to be located on that floor. We are a small percentage of the concierge guests.

Now, I will say that years ago they did have bottled water, and every day concierge guests would very tackily (if that's a word) grab them to take to the parks. The concierge lounge is intended to provide refreshments while in the lounge or perhaps in your room - not in the parks. So, eventually they stopped the bottled water & now have the big glass bottles of Evian which you can pour into large cups as often as you'd like (to enjoy there or in your room). I bring my own bottled water for the parks -that's not what the lounge is for.

BINGO. The lounge is not intended to be for getting freebies to take to the park, rather offerings to relax in the lounge with.

I have no problem with them serving Evian in large glass bottles. I don't need such fancy water, but it's fine. In fact, it's probably much better for the environment than all kinds of small plastic bottles.

My disappointment was that they seemed to hoard it. My requests for a bottle for the room came AFTER our days in the park, when we wanted to go back to the room and relax, without having to run back to the lounge every 15 minutes to refill the small glasses they provide.

I would've been happy with a one of those great big water dispensers with a tap in the lounge, and some glasses that were larger than 6 ounces. That's my feedback.

I knew some people would disagree, and that's fine. I suspect they aren't people who drink a lot of water.

If your husband drinks that much bottled water you might want to order some next time from an outside vendor, I do and I freeze it and take a few to the parks with me in a soft sided cooler and I have enough for the time I am in the parks. With the water frozen and in the small cooler it stays cold the entire day.

I don't agree with your issue I am staying concierge in August and I don't expect them to provide me with water or soda for that matter for my villa.

When we stay at a villa, as we do every year for the Epcot F&W festival, we have groceries delivered and that includes gallons of bottled water. I thought, based on a previous concierge visit, that we would not need to do that just for water on this trip. Had my husband wanted to drink coke or beer he could've brought as much as he wanted back to the room or to the parks for that matter.

Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks, I guess. I'll be providing my feedback to the appropriate staff. I'm glad you'll enjoy your stay with ordering water from an outside vendor and freezing it.

The suggestion about freezing it was for the parks since you stated you spend $10 per day on water in the parks and I get enough for my trip for less than that cost. I am glad you enjoy spending tha much money on water in the parks.

I would address my concerns to the DVC. dvcmembersatisfactionteam@disneyvacationclub.com

Unfortunately piggy people cause the problems for the rest of us. I think that there should be a policy that everything you take has to be consumed in the lounge.

We have stayed Club Level at Yacht Club and Contemporary within the past year, and both lounges encouraged us to take water to our room. They provided it constantly throughout the day, and even handed it to us at times. With a baby and a preschooler, this came in handy for right before bed when a trip to the lounge isn't convenient as everyone is in jammies. We did NOT take into the parks. We also do not drink pop, alcohol or coffee, so we look forward to water as well as we can't drink Orlando water.

We are staying Club Level at Jambo in July - hubby chose this over Kidani for access to the lounge with 2 hungry and thirsty kids. Not sure what to make of this policy at AKV - obviously it's to save money, and perhaps it's changed over the past year since we stayed at the other resorts? I refuse to purchase water for my room though, when I have paid extra to stay Club Level and I am used to the Club Level policies at the other resorts in which taking a bottle of water to your room is strongly encouraged.

Interesting...Tiger

Tiger....my point exactly. Had I known this was how the AKV lounge works, I would've been pre-emptive and requested it before we arrived, so that they knew we'd want it and it wouldn't have been such a chore to convince a CM to give us a bottle every day.

There is not always room i the lounge for you to consume it in the lounge unless you stood around waiting for people to vacate the tables and couches. That would be an unreasonable request I think. Besides, I like to hvae a drink in my room to sip on at night and a cookie or two before I brush my teeth after my shower. I don't want to have to get dressed again and hope there is still some left before I go back to the room.

I understand, but if you give people the chance, they will take 30 cookies back to their room because they are "free". I know that the Mousekeepers on the concierge level have told me that they throw a lot of lounge food away when the Guests check out of their rooms. I guess they stock up just in case there's food shortage. :lmao:

Does anyone really believe that Concierge rates are a good deal and that Disney's in danger of losing money if some of the refreshments get taken back to the room?

For the amount non-DVCers are paying for club level, I think they're entitled to 30 cookies if they want them. Not that I would encourage anyone to take more than they can eat, but whether they eat it in the lounge, or their room, or the elevator, or on the bus on the way to the park, there's no way in my mind that it was "free'.

Frankly, unless people are grabbing full bottles of the cordials, there seems to be little chance anyone will eat or drink enough to put a dent in the extra money paid for a concierge room.

When you stay concierge, you're paying to be treated as a special guest (at least that's the way I see it), and Disney telling the CMs they're not supposed to allow guests to take a bottle of water back to their room is a contradiction to the whole idea of concierge service, in my mind.

They do provide styrofoam coffee cups in addition to the real ones, so I think it's okay to take coffee out of the lounge.
