I'm to the "sick to my stomach" stage of planning...anyone else?

Man. I had to work this week. Yesterday was my first day off...and a friend from home came to visit! I hadn't seen her in 2 years, so of course we spent the day with them.

Today I'm here trying to finish the stupidest online graduate course in the world. Just a tip: If you're ever offered a free graduate course that is a "grant" you have to repay if you drop the class, don't do it!!! Everyone taking the class is where I am...just trying to finish it so they can get on with life. I swear, it's set up with the intent that you won't finish so the university gets to keep the grant money...and the $360 fine each student has to pay for if they don't finish.

The problem is, my mind is saying, "Okay, you are leaving home in 72 hours. The only packing you have done is is medicines and cosmetics. Exactly when do you plan to do this???" Yikes!

I get this way every time we do a big trip. The last 3 days before we go I am just sick. I know all will be fine once we land at SNA Monday morning. It's just getting to Monday that's the problem!

I understand the feeling...but you will be fine! And besides, you are going to Disneyland! :dance3::banana: I wish I was in the "sick to my stomach" stage of planning!

Have a wonderful trip!:goodvibes

For me I am super excited the weeks and days before but get really anxious the day of departure. So many things can happen during that day or night, that I get super anxious. Once I am actually sitting in the terminal and waiting to board the plane, then I relax and the excitement kicks back in.

I leave in 3 days too and i started packing today! Talk about stress. ;-D

key to all this?? pack slowly and get it done long before your trip! I leave in 3 months and Im packed :lmao: I have a list of must pack and then I slowly but surly fill the list. This way I am not forgetting anything and I do not have to worry . I get samples of this and that, add things I have picked up to wear, pack extra nighty, and so forth. no need to do that at the last minute. thats just nutty :lmao::lmao:

I can understand your sentiments. My last trip, instead of having most everything packed, like in the past, I ended up doing that the night before, much later from what I had in mind. Good luck with trying to go to sleep either way, early enough so as to get up after 4 in the a.m. even all of my beautiful cats were a sleep. he he! Anyway, I had a full day, that day, then ended up doing something else, during the time I was going to spend getting ready. I am not complaining, mind you, it is just that yes, sometimes even the best of intentions don't go as smoothly as one was planning and hoping for. Everything worked out fine for me though, as I am sure you will be just fine too. And thank you for the warning about those on line school grant offers. They sound scary!!
I ended up sleeping for only about 2 hours that night, between not being a morning person, then needing to get up so early, but I managed not to go to sleep at all, other then a cat nap, on the train, long ride, but nice. I was so happy and relieved once I arrived at my little ol' Days Inn property. :)

That is awesome. :rotfl2: I don't own anywhere near enough clothing to pack 3 months, 3 weeks, and maybe not even 3 days early.
We actually leave on a Monday this trip, so I will have the weekend to get it done.

My stick to my stomach stress is definately getting there. I have this fear of booking the airline tickets for the wrong date, or the hotel, or the rental car. Once I'm there it's smoooooth sailing.

I hear you on the cloths to :lmao: my kids have tons, me I own very little. but every year I go out and buy new pants , shirts and socks and bloomers, bra's etc. slowly but surly over a 3 month period ( and in between my kids needs) and wash them, and pack them in my suit case. this is my time to get things for me!! I wear my old cloths and do not touch these things until my trip, then there mine!!! then I wear them the rest of the year.
I have all my needs for my trip in advance and my packing is done. of course I look like crapola before hand, but am happy to have new cloths soon enough.
My kids and grand kids come first. I raise my 2 grand babys and I have a 14 year old, I am a single gramma so it all falls on me. so Im always the last to get anything. by buying over a period of time, I get my needs met.
it takes months and months to save for my trip, new bloomers always make my day and my trip :lmao::lmao::lmao:

I spent several hours yesterday shopping. Most of my shorts are from our last Disneyland trip...meaning they have 4 full summers of wear on them. All I wanted was denim shorts...a pair in khaki, a pair in black, and a pair in blue. What I ended up with was one pair of stretch blue denim from WalMart.

I am Pooh-sized. Still, at home, I could always find shorts. Catherine's had one style in two colors. A total of less than a dozen total! Fashion Bug had cotton sheeting and polyester grandma shorts. Yuck! Target was a no-go as everything they had is low rise. Who wants shorts that divide a roll of fat in half???? CJ Banks didn't have any. All the stores have this year are Capris. Well, when you're 5'2" and less than half that is leg, Capris end up hitting right around your shin bone, lol!

So, I have several lovely new shirts to wear and an assortment of old shorts. Ugh.

As for my boys, they want to wear their new clothes. I keep telling them to leave them alone until our trip...but since I haven't packed them, they keep wearing them. I don't know if they're oblivious or defiant!

Anyway, I am SO happy. I finished the class!!!! If I didn't finish it I had to pay THEM...so I was motivated, even though it was totally useless to me!

Now, off I go to feed my children (lunch at 3:22...that doesn't make me a bad mom, does it???) and pack!

Beth, I shop thru roamans and other on line " pooh sized shops. The got just what I need and love it. maybe next time you can take a look there before a trip and find what you need. makes it sooooo much easier :) HAve a wonderful trip hon !!

I'm right there with you! I leave TOMORROW - and I've done...uh...well not much. I have directions and I've done 4 loads of laundry :laundy: (yaya, I've always wanted to use that one!) and just now begun my planning binder (the one that took my 7 days for my 3 day trip, and this is an 8 day trip to do in less than 12 hours...)

Would love to know what you do for your binder. I'm trying to put one together, too.

I think that's a great system. What fun to have all new clothes for vacation. I may try that out and see if DH notices that he's never seen these clothes before. ;) Have a great trip!

Oh Tag Fairy.....!!!!!

:rotfl2:

I don't pack until the day before. :confused3 I need my things before then. And some bathroom stuff I can't pack until that morning after I get ready for the day. I do have a list that I add things to as I think of them.
However I have been busy shopping for the trip. ;) Just yesterday I got about 5 new shirts with DLR in mind. But I can't save them, I have to try them out.
I don't have any sick to stomache phase, but the night before I can't sleep because I'm so busy thinking in my head what I need to remember.

We leave tomorrow morning and I'm running around like crazy trying to pack all of the last minute things. I packed most of the stuff last weekend but there are some things that have to wait until the last minute. I am like DisneyFairyTale, once I am actually sitting in the terminal and waiting to board the plane, then I relax and the excitement kicks back in. I can't wait to walk through the esplanade, hear the music, enter the park......it is truly magical! Thank you, Walt!!!!:)

the only thing I have to pack the day we leave is insulin and my blood glucose machine.... and I just got 2 free ones in the mail ( don'y uoi love free stuff from magazines :lmao: ) so there already packed an d ready to go. My doctor gave me an insulin pens for my trip so I do not have to pack needles and bottles :cool1: I got shampoo and conditioner in my 2 oz bottles ( bought at the dollar store) extra makeup packed, and everything I need long in advance. Im so anal :lmao::lmao::lmao: but I hate to be rushing around the day I leave, or even the night before. I want to know I can head off to bed early and know all my stuff is done, house is cleaned, we are packed and I even chck in at the airport on line the night before. I leave nothing to chance and can sit the night before and watch disney DVDs and relax.
