CRT and/or Akershus

So, we had an 8:05 breakfast ADR at CRT on the first day of the kids' first trip. I thought the idea of it was great for a first time thing, but it fell a little short of expectation for me (nothing in particular, had a great time, but not quite the "wow" factor I was imagining). However, I know the kids LOVED it, especially DNiece.

For some weird reason, despite my slight (ever so slight) disappointment, I kind of want to eat there again. I'd only do it, though, if I could snag a pre-opening ADR.

So, if you've been a couple times, did your experience change?

Or should we try for breakfast at Epcot?

I've only had lunch at CRT and really wasn't all that impressed with the food or the character interaction. For us, it was a do one time thing.
I would do the Princess Storybook breakfast. The characters were great and you can also get an early ADR and enjoy an empty Epcot which is what we did.

We did breakfast at Akershus and it was delicious. Loved it too!

You really can't go wrong IMO!

Character interaction was better for us at Epcot, but the food was absolutely horrible. We had CRT for lunch and the food was pretty bad there too. Ambiance inside CRT is light years better than Akershus.

We've done CRT before and enjoyed it. On our last trip I snagged that ever so popular 8:05 ADR and was thrilled. And then I was disappointed. I felt rushed and the character interaction was just short of non-existant. I've also done an early Crystal Palace and wasn't so thrilled about that either.

You might consider trying the last seating. We've had great luck with those at all different character meals. That's when we've received the best character interaction and least-rushed service. I don't think we're planning one single character meal on our upcoming trip that won't be the last available seating.

ETA: I thought the food and character interaction were better at Akershus.

I'll have to put one in for Akershus...but purely on a food angle. I don't do the princess thing because I have no kids but I go to the restaurant for the food only...great every time.

And as far as the princess interaction, I always see them spending lots of time with the kids and there are a ton of them that come around.

I love the empty parks!!

The food is similar to CRT, isn't it (the breakfast staples...sausage, breads, fruit, etc.)?

Why would you say the interaction was better?

We never feel rushed in the mornings, and I love being in the empty park. It's definitely the top perk for me, as well as not being with the herd at RD. We did the last seating at CP during the Christmas parade taping. I felt like I was missing something during those oh-so-precious morning touring hours.

Good food is always a plus when eating. :rotfl::thumbsup2

To me the character interaction was about the same. Feed em, meet em and street em. ;) But we still love to go! :wizard:
