I am back in the yard today. I want to get a little more done before we have the week of rain that has been forcast. Good thing Nola likes to be outside :thumbsup2

yes I like armadillo eggs as well.

I use Italian sausage, mix in a couple tbsp of marinara, and use a jalapeno stuffed meatball wrapped inside. I have some pics of the ones I have made, Ill post them if I have time today.

Besides smoking some chicken, and ribs this past weekend, I smoked some heads of garlic for a salad dressing, and to use to rub on grilled corn on the cob. I also made a homemade mac-n-cheese, and some baked benas with smoked kilbasa.

Sunday I took it easy, made corned beef, cabbage, and red potatoes.

pics to follow.

Going downtown CHicago tonight, we have some out of town guests in so it will either be Vietnamese, or Korean BBQ.

Thank you for the love and support youse have shown me over the last few months.
Thank you for taking a wee Scots lassie to your hearts.

Thank YOU for always bringing a smile to my face and for being such a source of support for us all. You're in my prayers.

What are the dates?

hey all! I've been a working machine the past few days. All weekend, today, tomorrow, and Thurs. I'm beat. Too much for this part-time person. But can't complain too much, dh is taking us to Orlando on Friday for a long weekend.

Lucky lady!!!! Why don't you try and sweet talk him into a long weekend in October?;)

I have to go for an ultrasound today for my thyroid...let's hope all is OK and I do not have to go for another biopsy. Then have to go for bloodwork. Andrew also has a game tonight.

I'm thinking of you and praying all goes well.

THAT WOULD BE ME !!!! :wave2: VERY EXCITED ABOUT THE UPCOMING TRIP AND AM LOOKING FORWARD TO MEETING LAURENS WFD FRIENDS!:thumbsup2 AND HAVING A FEW COCKTAILS !:drinking1

Can't wait to meet you!!!!:goodvibes

WFD - My guys have been begging for the Paula Deen fried pork chops, so we'll have those with mashed potatoes & gravy and corn.

Kathy--yes, I've thought about trying to talk him into an Oct. trip; you know make him think it was his idea. ;) But I don't want to push my luck too far, ya know.

Vickie--sending good thoughts your way today!

WFD tonight is Creamy Italian Chicken in the crockpot (at least for the kids and DH) I'll be eating on the run again tonight--but I did get fruit salad and a wrap to take with me to work. Too much junk this weekend!

Vickie, I hope your surgery went well.

Here are pictures from the weekend. Saturday was the antipasto. I made some spinach and artichoke dip to snack on before dinner:

Tonight John is having vietnamese grill-braised short ribs. I did the braising part yesterday, so all I need to do tonight is finish them on the grill. I am making a vegetable curry for me, and we'll also have rice.

Awesome pics Becky!:thumbsup2

I wanted to share two great recipes I used this past weekend, both Bobby Flay's - Grilled Chicken w/roasted garlic-oregano vinaigrette - this was the favorite dish of the day, everyone LOVED it. I didn't do the fingerling potatoes with it because I did the Mesa Grill's Southwestern Potato Salad - I may never have potato salad any other way again! Here are the links:

Also wanted to mention that Maria's chimichurri sauce was fantastic!!!:thumbsup2

Glad you liked it...it's become a staple around here.

Lauren, hope your scan is ok, I go July & those thyroid biopsies stink.
Do you take Synthroid?

I haven't been sleeping well the last 2 weeks & now I'm really dizzy, not sure what that's all about:confused3having trouble focusing....

Dinner is up in the air.

I will be calling Vickie tomorrow, hope she is ok.

Hi everyone!

Lauren - I hope your U/S went well today. And I'm excited to see you're coming in October.

Charlene - Looking forward to meet you.

Vickie - I hope the surgery went well.

Becky - The photos look wonderful, as usual.

Ann - I hope you are feeling well today.

Nancy - I hope the pretty weather held up for you. I was supposed to rain all day yesterday, but it was just really overcast and threatening looking. This morning when I had to dash out to the car, it was pouring! You know how that goes.

I have no idea what I'm making for dinner tonight. I hope I'll have some inspiration between now and the grocery trip.

Hey! Another fly by...I think the next time Becky or Laura say they are going to make antipasto, I will crash the party!!!

Thank you all for the good thoughts. I will know the results next week of the US. Bloodwork then too. The tech at the hospital used the wrong tubes for my blood work and had to poke me twice...I guess I am so used to going for bloodwork, it didn't even phase me. She was apologizing so much and I was so understanding she thanked me a million times.

Maria, I am off all my meds now since pregnancy regulated my hormones. We'll see what happens now. I used to take PTU (I have nodules and sub clinical hyperthyroidism - which means I have no symptoms...go figure, not even my thyroid problem will get me skinny). I didn't know you had thyroid problems...do you take synthroid?

Charlene, you forgot to post WFD! ;)

OK, so hotel is also booked for us! We will be at SSR the 16 - 19th. Hey, anyone wanna go to Jellyrolls?

OK, off to get down for baseball...unless we get rained out...

Caio for now!

Stop the Train, Becky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wnat to eat at your house!

Kat- those recipes sound awesome

Maria- any new meds that you have been taking?

Gretchen- You are shopping like me now;) We had no rain yesterday, none so far today. The rest of the week is sketchy. Sunday it got overcast and I put all of the tools away. It rained a little, Buddy came home from the farm and said he got hail and a deluge! Crazy NE weather!

Hello all. Had a nice weekend. Left work early on Friday and headed straight out from there, luckily traffic wasn't too bad. We got there, unpacked and went to the store for milk and fruit. That evening we just hung out at the condo and my DN's played in the hot tub for a little while. At 8:30 my DM decided she wanted KFC for dinner so my sis and I headed out. We drove up and down Coastal Highway looking for KFC, Popeye's and English's, both KFC and Popeyes were gone and English's was closed for the night. There wasn't a fried chicken place to be had!

Saturday we went to the beach for a couple hours and it was sooo chilly.:cold: I wore my swimsuit and had capris and a shirt over it and ended up not taking off the capri's and putting the shirt back on. The girls had a great time playing in the sand looking for treasure and did go in the water. We went back to the condo and I took a nap.

That night we went to have dinner at the Phillips buffet. As we were leaving my sister says something about our neighbor. Our condos have a "privacy" fence which is not really that private because it is not solid. There are two rows of 7 foot high slats that have a gap between the front row and back row, which you can see thru at the right angle. And any people on the balcony's of the condo's across the street can see right down into the patio area too. Well this lady was in the hot tub sans suit! :scared1: And people, she was bigger than me, and I'm big! :scared: I don't think she realized how "exposed" she was! :rotfl:

Dinner at Phillips was good, I forgot my camera though.:headache: My DN (8yo) was really adventerous and tried a lot of things she hadn't before including fried oyster, which she loved.

On Sunday we went to the Boardwalk, had Thrasher's fries and Dough Roller pizza, which I forgot to take pics of :sad2:, walked the Boarwalk looking for the doll shop for my youngest DN and played games. We walked a pretty good distance looking for the doll place and by sheer luck found the 2nd one they have down there, the original had closed a couple of years ago.

Then it was back to the condo for my daily nap and dinner that night was a place called Nicks for ribs, I also had chicken, and afterward played Putt Putt.

The next morning it was up and headed home early. I had thought about hanging around down there for a couple hours and getting my Dumser's milkshake and going to Assateague to see the horses but I am glad I didn't. I would have run into traffic and we ended up having some nasty TS's. I did stop at the produce stand and at the Pepperidge Farm outlet store, where I picked up a few things. Got home and took my daily nap :rotfl: We had crablegs for dinner last night. I was going to grill but didn't because of the weather.

Tonight is going to be rotisserie chicken from Costco, roasted potatoes and some asparagus that I got at the produce stand.

Okay...so this dumb meeting series we've been having is on a new way to lesson plan. Except it's not a NEW way, it's just a new TEMPLATE. And it's...bizarre. It uses different terms for what we're already doing, and there's this chart thing where each column is labeled. Well, the labels on the template don't match the columns we are supposed to be using words from in each box of the template. I was getting so confused (and it's almost humorous at this point because this is the THIRD session of this and people are still confused because, well, the stuff doesn't make much sense), so I said I was confused but was smiling because it SAID "Thinking Skills" but we were supposed to take a word from the "Depth" column in that box, NOT the "Thinking Skills" column as one would logically expect.

Well the AP put her hand in my face and said "It doesn't matter if you're confused. You're going to Louisiana." If I wasn't so sick I might have slapped the woman. Then, she turns to the teacher on the other side of her, who was confused about THE SAME THING and she starts rubbing her back saying "ohhh, what are you confused about?" :confused3 I was fuming at this point...especially since at that point the AP said something in Spanish that made everybody gasp - she cursed at me!

Then she got up to go do something, and I start venting about how we said the SAME THING but got totally different reactions. Another teacher - in a condescending voice no less - says "well, since you said it with a smile, it came across as condescending so yeah, she didn't like that." WTH. At the beginning of the meeting, I mentioned - NOT in a complaining tone no less - that the prior time we had met, we had been confused about the format and one other thing. She cut me off, telling us all that we would NOT be complaining and that I needed to stop. :confused3 She yelled at me in Spanish one other time too, when I rested my head on my arm because, well, I'm STILL A BIT SICK. :headache: What a day. I cannot wait to be gone from there!

To be honest, when they don't like something about you, they try to make your life miserable. They don't like that I'm leaving and it's quite clear. As if giving my smartboard to someone else was not enough, AFTER putting the boxes in my room in front of the kids. Their behavior is disgusting. No class whatsoever.

If I were you I'd tell her to bite me! Or you can tell her that she is the main reason you are leaving, that she has caused a hostile work environment and you are thinking of suing her! :rotfl:

Hey...

In early tomorrow so I want to say this to you all now.

Thank you.

is there a place where the details are listed? time, place etc?

No, we've just been chatting about it. I'll remind Brenda to put the details in the OP after she recoops from her procedure. I pm'd you the details!

Well this lady was in the hot tub sans suit! :scared1: And people, she was bigger than me, and I'm big! :scared: I don't think she realized how "exposed" she was! :rotfl:

I used to take PTU (I have nodules and sub clinical hyperthyroidism - which means I have no symptoms...go figure, not even my thyroid problem will get me skinny). I didn't know you had thyroid problems...do you take synthroid?

I have Hoshimoto's Disease, hypothyroidism....they upped my Synthroid to 150 mcg in April...haven't lost an ounce:mad: When I go back in July & they scan my nodules again they will decide on a biopsy (one was enough & that was years ago).

Jellyroll's sounds good to me!!!!!

Nan, no new meds, I just had a crying jag because now I have myself scarred. I called Greg & asked him to come home.

WELCOME CHARLENE!
