Angels and Demons - The Movie

Has anybody seen this movie? What did you think about it? I finally managed to go and see it today. I really enjoyed it. I think as a stand alone movie it would have been fantastic. However, as an adaptation of the novel, it did not really do it for me. I recently re-read the book and I really could not understand why they changed so many characters and central parts of the story line. I am aware that they need to condense a book whenever it is made into a movie, but that does not explain why they changed certain central themes of the book completely around. Certain things that make a lot of sense in the book made no sense at all in the movie.

I love the book as well and can't even remember how often I have read it. I loved the film as well in its own right, but sometimes you wonder what book they used to make it.

I haven't seen the film yet but I've just finished reading the book and it seems to have the right ingredients for a good film. What a shame they haven't kept to the story!

I hate it when they mess around with the story i rarely enjoy addeptations for this reason !

I enjoyed both Angels & Demons and The Da Vinci Code but have not seen either film as there is nothing worse than when they mess around with the plot. The fact that they are advertising A & D as a sequel is bad enough - it was written first!

I saw it when it came out last week. The film was good but the book was much better as it had more twists in it compared to the film.

I can't wait to see this movie, I loved the book. Last year we saw filming of this movie when we toured Sony studios in Hollywood, we saw the Vatican set and some outdoor filming with Tom Hanks in the distance, plus a lot of extras being driven around dressed as cardinals in golf buggies!! Quite strange!

DH, eldest DD and I are off to see this on Sunday afternoon.

I love the book so I'm hoping I won't be disappointed by the film.

I saw the film today and didn't think much of it, the ending was just daft and some of the sences were not suitable for a 12a film, was shocked to see a 5year old or could be even younger there.

I haven't read the book after reading the Da Vinci Code as thought that was very badly written.

I enjoyed the book too and Dan Brown's other book Digital Fortress although I didn't like Deception Point for some reason.

I will probably wait until A&D comes out on DVD before watching though.

We went this afternoon and after reading Corrina's thoughts went with the view that we would forget all about the book and just enjoy the film.

Wholeheartedly agree with this. It was me, DH and eldest DD who went, our younger two weren't interested, and we thought it was a very enjoyable film in its own right.

I can't understand why they left out Kohler as for a long time when reading the book I though he was a bad guy, also why omit the final twist between the Calermengo and the Pope??

I agree, I liked Digital Fortress too and think that would be a great film but wasn't keen on Deception Point.

I haven't read it so have ordered DH into the loft to get it out this weekend. I watched a documentary about it on Sky anytime the other day and I must say it looked very intriguing and I loved all the plots that I saw.
