The What's For Dinner Thread - May '09(recipe index in OP)

Ann - good luck with your appointment and with DH's interview!

Vickie - I hope your boy feels better today. It's no fun watching the kids in pain!

Lindsay - I hope you have time to make cookies! If you want, you could come here and make some! My kids would love you to pieces!!!!

Nancy - Good luck with the shopping. Alan is the same way when he goes shopping with me. I always end up feeling guilty, and then we argue, and it's never pleasant!

Sheryl - I'm glad you are feeling ok today! Let's hope it stays that way for a while!

Aimee - Good job on the points, yesterday! You can do this!!!!

dinner tonight will be a mexican macaroni dish. I found it in a magazine, and I have everything on hand. I'll let you know if it's good!

Glynis- Mexican macaroni sounds tasty!

Becky- I always plan on leftover steak, and it hardly ever happens.

Nancy- We have the same problem finding my husband shirts. He's also 6'6" and he has a 34" waist (he thinks it's 36, but it's not), but his neck and shoulders are huge. Someone told me to get "athletic" cut or something like that. We have yet to find a dress shirt he can button the top button. Fortunalty we both hate clothes shopping so we try to get it done quickly.

Sheryl- I sounds like you have the perfect day planned, I hope you enjoy it.

Laura- Enjoy your night in.

Ann- Good luck to Ron!

Vickie- I loved your comment about us eating dinner when your already in bed, because when I see your posts, I think "wow she's up late."

Kathy- ziti is one of my favorites, enjoy it. I'm making manicotti tommorow, can't let the riccotta in the back of the fridge go bad.

Tonight is our late night so we are having cheddarwurst, brown rice, and a mixed frozen veg I found at BJ's. It's a nice mix-broccoli, squash, carrots, cauliflower, zucchini. I think I butchered the spelling of every vegetable.

Yes you should consume all the points or the majority. I think if you are a few under it's okay, unless you have been exercising then you may need to have a few extra.

Watched Lost tonight, I am so lost! :rotfl:

I always ate all my points because when I did not I did not lose.

That's what I thought, thanks :goodvibes

DH has an interview today, please cross your fingers and toes and say a quick prayer he gets it!!! TIA.

Ann

Will do!!

I am not feeling well; I guess the apple last night sent me over the edge :confused3 The vicodin has taken the edge off and I'm now getting hungry without being nauseated. I was going to make orange beef in the crockpot but could barely stand up straight this morning, and knew beef was the last thing I needed to eat for dinner, so dinner is anyone's guess. I may just eat soup.

Hey I'm back from field day. The kids pooped out really early! They were picking the games when I got there. I was able to have lunch with her & meet all of her "best friends". Somehow I got wrangled into having one over after school next week.:rolleyes1:cutie: Rickie took her home so I have the whole afternoon to myself!

Courtney surgery did go well, but she had a bad afternoon & night. They did not hook up the "push the button for drugs thingy" until 7:00 this morning!!!:mad: I briefly talked to her Mom & she sounded really upset & frazzled! They did give her a shot of morphine but that wasn't until 4 or 5 this morning. They had her on demerol & it wasn't helping at all. Poor thing and it's only supposed to get worse when they release her. So please more prayers for Courtney!

Maria, Thanks for posting the chimichurri recipe! I threw some not some too thin ribeyes on last night & cus I wasn't feeling normal overdid them. I have one left, I'll make some your sauce for it tonight!

Nan, Good luck this evening! I was confused, don't know if I lost a day or gained one.

Glynis, I thought I had Becky's curried chicken recipe saved, but i can't find it. Becky do please post again!

Merle, We have given up on Lost! Even watching it every week it just continues to give you more questions than answers. It's gotten past being good for us & just darn frustrating!

Aimee, I'm so sorry the new diet is giving you such pain! Literally not figuratively!:hug: Sorry you are hurting, prayers that you feel better & can figure what works diet-wise for you!

quick fly by...i am trying to get done today since tomorrow i have to go be with Mom...cheeseburgers for dinner.

i skimmed but do not have time to post...love to all!

So jumping out of planes into goodness knows what is not a scary as clothes shopping???????
 I am quite certain that Greg would much prefer jumping out of planes, crawling through swamps or climbing cliffs to clothes shopping with me. The last time he went, I dragged him into every clothing store in the mall, tried on dozens of outfits, and ended up leaving without anything. He was not pleased.

Courtney surgery did go well, but she had a bad afternoon & night. They did not hook up the "push the button for drugs thingy" until 7:00 this morning!!!

That is awful! I hope they are able to figure out a better pain management plan. How long will she be in the hospital?

Aimee -- I hope you're feeling better.

I ended up getting some haddock for our dinner tonight. Now I am trying to figure out how to make it. The kids would vote for fish and chips.

Hey fine lassies....

Just a quicky to say the boy is so much better today...thanks for the concern.

I really could rant on about my in laws but I dont come here to rant.

Lets just say....

If I felt MY BOY needed to see a doctor I would take him.
I know my son.
I would not go to work and leave him if I felt he was still very poorly.

Im a good mum.

Ok,thats kinda a mini rant but Im

I have read back and I want to reply to some things but I will BBL when Im back to my cheery, chirpy self....

I just got off of the phone with him and he wants to know why I cannot just run in and pick something out for me :confused3

Tell him that he may not care if his butt looks big in a pair of pants but you do! ;)

I don't know what's for dinner tonight, not sure if the weather will be okay for grilling and I am just not interested in cooking! I may just make a huge salad and add some grilled chicken strips that I have in the freezer.

This should be fun, I would love some clothes in this size but I will have Buddy along for the ride . He will try to get this "chore" done in 15 minutes, will pretend not to mind hauling clothes to the dressing room for me but will be making a face that looks like he swallowed glass and will be looking like a prisoner sitting on the dainty chair outside the room :scared: Yup...tonight should be fun :dance3:

:lmao: Poor Buddy.......;)

Off to my regular O/B check up, check in later.

DH has an interview today, please cross your fingers and toes and say a quick prayer he gets it!!! TIA.

Ann

Prayers for you both, please update when you can!

Morning Y'all!

Morning Y'all,
I am feeling pretty darn good today! I know the anesthesia hasn't worn off & the steroids have kicked in yet but I'll take anyday that I feel good!

I'm so glad to hear you say that you're feeling , prayers that it will continue.

We finally have an evening in tonight, so I get to cook something. What that something is, I am not sure. I have a bunch of errands to run today and going to the store is on the list. BBL

Enjoy your evening at home!

Here is the recipe, the only thing I changed was adding some red pepper flakes & upped the garlic:

A bunch of parsley
1/2 cup of olive oil
2 tablespoons of lime juice
1 clove of garlic (although I like a lot of garlic so I added a few more cloves)
2 minced shallots
1 teaspoon fresh oregano
Salt and Pepper to taste
Add all of these ingredients in a food processor and pulse until the parsley, oregano, etc is finely chopped. Add the salt and pepper afterwards.

This sounds really good, going into my file!:thumbsup2

I'm so sorry you're not feeling well, hope you start feeling better soon. When you feel up to it could you post the orange beef recipe if it hasn't already been posted?

So glad "the boy" is better! You are a good mum and good mums know their kids better than anyone...rant away my friend....

I'm kinda concerned for Kyle and his new "employment". He starts umpiring baseball games tonight. The pay is really good and he's really excited about it. I just worry about him getting some stupid parent angry and them retaliating.

just a quick fly by here. Our power has been out all day, making my getting ready a pain. Not fun packing in the heat. Now it's off to the airport!

Ann~ check in with us after the doctor. Praying for Ron.

Prayers for the interview!!! & your checkup!

Ann -- Good luck to Ron!

Let us know how it went.

Prayers for your DH, of course :thumbsup2

Ann, good luck to your DH with his interview!

Ann - good luck with your appointment and with DH's interview!

Ann- Good luck to Ron!

Will do!! .

Prayers for you both, please update when you can!

Thank you all.... :cool1::cool1: He got the job, and starts June 1 :cool1::cool1: This means huge changes for DH. He is going to be able to retire from his fulltime day job after 28 years and collect a pension. He will also be able to quit his part-time night job and work just one job like normal people!! It will be nice to have him with home more with the kids and I!!! :goodvibes

My Dr. appointment went well. Everything is right as it should be. I am measuring perfect and the baby's heartbeat was 128. The Dr. is thrilled with my progress. I lost a pound and my BP was great. She suggested pepcid or zantac for my heartburn. Next appointment will be in 2 weeks, then I am down to weekly appointments.

WFD- Brats & Kraut subs, and fries (DH is celebrating with some Budlight). These should be good for some heartburn.

Ann

Vickie, Glad the boy is feeling better! Sorry about the in-laws.:headache: We know you are a good Mum! Please don't feel like you have to be happy & chipper on WFDT! If that were the case my friends would have booted me out the door ages ago! We are here for rants & happy times!:grouphug:

Stephanie, Sorry the power's out! I hope you have a great trip!

Kat, You are such a MOM! I can understand your worries, some parents do get totally crazed! Prayers that Kyle can handle whatever comes his way! Congrats on his new job!

Ann,:cool1::dance3::yay: You two aren't going to know how to handle this "normal life"! ;) BIG, BIG CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I'm happy for your whole family!! :goodvibes

:cool1: on the job, Ann! That is wonderful news! I know your husband works so hard all the time, it will be great for him to have a regular job. I'm glad everything is going great with Emma too.

I'm kinda concerned for Kyle and his new "employment". He starts umpiring baseball games tonight. The pay is really good and he's really excited about it. I just worry about him getting some stupid parent angry and them retaliating.

Well, I know here there is no arguing with the umpires at all. If the parents say anything, the team can be forced to forfeit, so the most you hear are whispered complaints and stifled groans. At least it is baseball and not softball. Greg used to umpire both and he said the softball parents were the WORST! Good luck to Kyle!

Vickie -- You're a great mom, and of course, you know what is best. It's so hard to stay calm when other people try to think they know better, isn't it? Believe me, I am quite familiar with the feeling. I am glad your son is feeling better today.

I still don't know what I am doing with my haddock...:rolleyes1...but I have to go pick Caili up from ballet.

Don't worry about venting here! That's what family is for! For what it's worth, my MIL drives me nuts, too! She's always second guessing me, and talking about me to my husband's siblings. It's frustrating, and very annoying!

Hooray for you DH!!!! What fabulous news!!! Celebrate away! Between his news, and your good appointment, you have a lot to celebrate! I'm so happy for both of you!

Sheryl - continued prayers for Courtney. How are you feeling, now? I hope you didn't overdo it at Field day today. I worry about you!

Kathy - Some parents can be so scary! I hope that all works out for Kyle and this job. I'd say, "don't worry", but you're a mom and that's your job. I'll keep y'all in my prayers!

Kat, You are such a MOM! I can understand your worries, some parents do get totally crazed! Prayers that Kyle can handle whatever comes his way! Congrats on his new job!

I guess I worry too much, will it ever change?:sad1:

We have seen quite a few incidents in our many years of baseball but nothing major or life threatening, I'm just over thinking this as usual.

Kat, I know you've been listening to me, have I stopped worrying yet? Not!

In fact, I've found it has gotten harder to parent the adult child! My input & worries need to be stuffed unless I'm asked for them! Not an easy thing for me. :sad2:
