The What's For Dinner Thread - May '09(recipe index in OP)

Vickie, I hope your boy feels better in the morning! Sleep tight.:goodvibes

WFD- DM had salad and stuffed peppers...yuck, not my thing. And I have been having heartburn the past two days, DM told me that means the baby has alot of hair! DM did make me some pasta instead of the peppers.

And fwiw I think Adam slaughtered u2.

Beck and I are huge U2 fans. It is hard to hear anyone sing their songs, and I can tell you, Adam is no Bono. However, I am so happy that it is Adam and Kris in the final. I thought they were both the most deserving because they are the most original.

Once I had to pick her up because the nurse thought she had chicken pox, I didn't want to pick her up, I've never had them. Anyway, it turned out to be a bug bite.

Um...I'm not a nurse, but chicken pox does not look like a bug bite! I got chicken pox in 8th grade, and when they first started appearing, I tried to convince myself that they were just insane pimples...but I knew better.

I bet your Mom was like me the next day...dragging!

She is older than you, and she was dragging for at least a week. She said it was worth it though.

Liam pitched tonight, but he had a bad outing. He felt really terrible because his teammates were all excited that he was pitching, and thought they would automatically win, but Liam didn't have it tonight. He was tired, and the pitcher's mound was flat and full of holes, so he couldn't push off the mound like he wanted to. It was hard to watch. Kathy can relate, I'm sure.

We ate dinner at the field...cheese, crackers, fruit, ham. It was a pre-game picnic.

He has constipation issues but the pain is not really in his bowel area more right bang in his tummy. He has been eating light today but the pain comes and goes and his colour drains. He's been sleeping sound since 8 so hopefully he will be ok in the morning.

Poor guy!!

I had a Healthy Choice tv dinner after my meetings tonight. I have 3 points left for the day; I think I may eat an apple. I have to watch my fruit and vegetable intake but it's been 6 hours since the orange I had so I think it's safe :confused3

WW girls - you are supposed to consume all the points, right?

Yes you should consume all the points or the majority. I think if you are a few under it's okay, unless you have been exercising then you may need to have a few extra.

Watched Lost tonight, I am so lost! :rotfl:

Thanks for the chicken salad ideas. :)

Hope Courtney is doing well.

Tonight we are having leftover chili and cornbread. I'm thinking about making some cookies for Scott to take to work tomorrow. I did a lot of housework yesterday so I may not have much on my plate for today.

Yes I can relate and yes it is very hard to watch. Hope Liam isn't taking it too hard. He'll bounce back next time out.

WFD - Baked ziti, caesar salad and cheesy bread!

The Boy is still poorly.

He's been sleeping sound since 8 so hopefully he will be ok in the morning.

Poor kid  Hope he is better today!

DM told me that means the baby has alot of hair!

That is what I have always heard :thumbsup2

The kids are always harder on themselves than they need to be so it is tough watching them.

WW girls - you are supposed to consume all the points, right?

I always ate all my points because when I did not I did not lose.

Dinner needs to be quick tonight. We need to go shopping after Buddy gets home, he wants a white shirt with one of those stretchy top buttons. Now this will be a treat to find, he is 6'6" with a 52 inch chest and a 38 inch waist. Shirts are tough to find, they never fit in the waist if they fit in the chest. His shirts are all "shrinking" and are too short in the arm but he does not believe that he is expanding. This is for Saturday so it is too late to get the shirt that fits altered so I am not looking forward to tonight.

And then after that fun filled errand we get to shop for me. This should be fun, I would love some clothes in this size but I will have Buddy along for the ride . He will try to get this "chore" done in 15 minutes, will pretend not to mind hauling clothes to the dressing room for me but will be making a face that looks like he swallowed glass and will be looking like a prisoner sitting on the dainty chair outside the room :scared: Yup...tonight should be fun :dance3:

Off to my regular O/B check up, check in later.

DH has an interview today, please cross your fingers and toes and say a quick prayer he gets it!!! TIA.

Liked the flavors, but the dish made too much sauce. Next time I will cut the sauce in half.

Have a great day, everyone!

Holy headache day! This weather is a killer!

Dinner last night was flank steak with chimichurri sauce Very easy to make) & a salad of field greens & mandarin oranges. The sauce was delicious!
I just can't bring myself to post food photos with Becky's masterpieces...they always have shadows & weird lighting:confused3

Ann~ check in with us after the doctor. Praying for Ron.

Steph~ I watched AI last night & what a great thing for Chris & your town.

I don't know if anyone wears hats in the summer or on vacation but I found a great one with SPF 45+ & some kind of cooling fabric. I love that it's packable & has this very thin wire that can shape it anyway you want.

I take a photo if anyone wants t take a look.

Morning Y'all!

Morning Y'all,

I am feeling pretty darn good today! I know the anesthesia hasn't worn off & the steroids have kicked in yet but I'll take anyday that I feel good!

My friends, Many Many Thanks again for all of your prayers & good wishes for me & for Courtney!!! Y'all are just too awesome!!! :grouphug: Excuse me... need tissues... Everytime I express my sentiments, I get all teary. :goodvibes

Alexis has school field day today. Rickie took off & is out there now. I'm feeling good enough to bring a chair & go out there for a little while. I'll watch the games for a bit & bring a lunch to have a picnic lunch with my girl!

I haven't gotten any word on Courtney yet. I called her Mom this morning but couldn't get her. ( Is there a proper term for your child's MIL other than just in-law's ) Angelina & Josh drove there yesterday (she's in Baton Rouge) I'm not sure if they stayed over or not. And my DD does NOT like phone calls early in the morning!

Eventually. Right now, he is thinking about heading to Airborne School after graduation. As if Ranger training wasn't extreme enough, now he needs to jump out of airplanes. :confused3

It seems like they change the diet restrictions all the time. You'll be able to eat all the feta you want soon!

Marisa -- I agree with Robin that all little girls bellies stick out a bit. Even with all the activity Caili does, she has a belly.Stephanie -- I thought Kris's version of Heartless was great last night. I would much rather see him in the final than Danny (or Croaky Gokey, as Becky likes to call him )...my apologies to Danny fans.)

So Greg will be an Airborne Ranger!!! :cool1: (reminds me of a very old Christian Rock song!)

Marisa, I agree with Laura & Robin little girls bellies do stick out! Alexis is very tiny, under the weight & hieght for her age but her little belly still pokes out! :cutie:

Gosh Thank goodness I can't get pregnant anymore! No cheese would have been really hard! With everything I was allowed to have I'm lucky Angelina doesn't have all kinds of problems. I mean raw oysters were okay back then & went through a spell of eating 6-12 a night for 2 months!! Cheese I can't even imagine how much I went too. Boy I'm going to have a tough time feeding Angelina when her pg time comes!

Vickie--love the "wee scone" hope your little one is better soon

Sheryl--glad to hear that Courtney came through surgery just fine. Good luck with the injection today. And I loved that you used y'all and lassies in the same sentence.

Becky--I went to download the heartless song a bit ago but iTunes hasn't been updated. Hopefully by this afternoon. We're hoping Crokey Gokey" goes home too. I think his voters would vote for Kris over Adam. And fwiw I think Adam slaughtered u2. I'm so over the Adam show and how they "pimp" him. No offense to Adam lovers

Stephanie, I'm glad you liked "Y'all fine lassies" ! I thought it had a nice ring to it! I also thought it was going to make Bethany say "WHAAAT?!":rotfl2:

We had recorded AI & watched both shows last night. Glad things turned out the way I was hoping, I was upset about not voting! I thought Chris' Heartless was WOW too! I like Adam a lot also, but did not enjoy that song either! I'm still very glad he's in over Gokey!

Today is typical Wed but I did really good. I brought leftovers for lunch and most of the staff went out to Qdoba for lunch after our meeting. I really need to watch my spending plus my calories so I opted to stay at my desk and work! I brought a Healthy Choice TV dinner for tonight, though I'm not sure when I'll sneak in time to eat it. I have a meeting and if I'm starving, they may have to watch me eat!

Aimee I know you have to watch so many things in your regular diet & now going WW is going to be that much harder. I don't know if you have any sodium problems, but keep an eye on that with the frozen meals. When I first started WW I was eating quite a few & had some problems from that.

Woo Hoo.....Kris is in the finals !!

:cool1::yay::cheer2:

Thanks Lindsay! Sorry I didn't have any chicken salad recipes. I just use a very light hand on the mayo in any recipes calling for it. I'm not a big fan of mayo!

:rotfl2: I just love your descriptions of "stuff" between you & Buddy! I been there & done that, but just can't express myself the way you do! I hope he did find that shirt, but I'm sure he did look like he swallowed glass!

Off to my regular O/B check up, check in later.

DH has an interview today, please cross your fingers and toes and say a quick prayer he gets it!!! TIA.

Prayers for the interview!!! & your checkup!

Maybe too saucy for you, but it looks super yummy to me!!

Vicky, I pray your "wee pumpkin pie" is feeling better today! :flower3:

Don't know WFD!

Maria, sorry you are having funky weather!

I love all kinds of chimichurri sauce!! Can you post the recipe you used? Please:goodvibes

Come on post pictures please!!! I need someone else to post pics with shadows, weird lighting & for me not so gorgeous plating! ;)

I tried to check out that hat, but a pump & compressor page came up. :confused3

Vickie -- I hope your "wee pumpkin" is feeling better today.

Sheryl -- I'm glad you're feeling good today...hopefully, that shot will help out until your surgery. Have fun at Field Day!

Ann -- Good luck to Ron!

Nancy -- :rotfl: You have me laughing thinking about you and Buddy clothes shopping. I think Greg would rather eat glass than clothes shop with me.

Maria -- I hope your headache has eased. I'm sure whatever weather you have there is coming this way next.

We finally have an evening in tonight, so I get to cook something. What that something is, I am not sure. I have a bunch of errands to run today and going to the store is on the list. BBL

So glad you feel good:cool1::cool1:

Google San Francisco Hat Company

Here is the recipe, the only thing I changed was adding some red pepper flakes & upped the garlic:

A bunch of parsley
1/2 cup of olive oil
2 tablespoons of lime juice
1 clove of garlic (although I like a lot of garlic so I added a few more cloves)
2 minced shallots
1 teaspoon fresh oregano
Salt and Pepper to taste
Add all of these ingredients in a food processor and pulse until the parsley, oregano, etc is finely chopped. Add the salt and pepper afterwards.

Prayers for your DH, of course :thumbsup2

Dinner last night:

Holy Mackerel! that looks good and I don;t like shrimp :rotfl:

Holy headache day! This weather is a killer!

Your weather and mine today as well. It is going to get windy too so I am pouting. Take pictures!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm glad you are having a good day! Enjoy the field day with Alexis!

Let us know how Courtney is doing when you have time, I love good news!

We are shopping this evening. I went online to see if the big and tall shop has those stretchy buttons. I don't know why he thinks the button is the miracle cure but if he thinks it works I am taking it! I just got off of the phone with him and he wants to know why I cannot just run in and pick something out for me :confused3 He said he can pick it out and it will only take 15 minutes! Now I remember why I never let him come with me and why I ended up taking Kady shopping after going with him. The fact that he asked what my "battle plan" for tonight already has me :dance3:

We finally have an evening in tonight, so I get to cook something. What that something is, I am not sure. I have a bunch of errands to run today and going to the store is on the list. BBL

So jumping out of planes into goodness knows what is not a scary as clothes shopping??????? :rotfl:

Enjoy your evening in!

Lindsay, the only chicken salad recipe I make is curried chicken salad. I don't know if you would like it. I know you don't like spicy food. It's not spicy, but it's very curry. It has curry powder, white wine, some mayonaisse (not a lot), scallions, cashews, golden raisins, mango chutney, etc. I'll post the recipe if you think you would like it.

Sheryl, I am glad that you are feeling better today! I hope Courtney is doing well also.

Vickie, I hope your son is feeling better today.

Ann, good luck to your DH with his interview!

I forgot to post what's for dinner earlier. For John, I am grilling a huge ribeye steak--it's 2 inches thick. It's been marinating since Monday in a paste of porcini mushroom powder, red pepper flakes, salt, black pepper, garlic, olive oil. With that I am making some seared balsamic mushrooms and an arugula salad. There will be tons of steak leftover. Not quite sure what I am going to do with it! I am grilling myself some portobello mushrooms.
