Dragging a grumpy DH back to the World ~ Single Digits!!

I have a Canon (see my PTR for a pic), and I love it. I've not read the manual to knwo how to take night shots yet, but I've been pretty dang happy with the pics thus far!

I vote for the Sony camera just because it's a cool color. :rotfl:

I think I have that exact camera!! The Canon Elph, that is. I'm really not a photographer by any means but I love it. The battery lasts FOREVER, I've dropped it a number of times and it's never broken, it takes nice clear pictures and the price is awesome. I'm really happy with mine.:thumbsup2 I would definitely recommend it!

Ha, awesome! I was hoping that someone might say that. Now I can see what type of WDW pictures it will take. Because, let's face it, those are the most important type of pictures there are! Who cares what else it can do. :rotfl: It's also comforting to know it's resilient. I have the tendency to drop EVERYTHING.

I have a Canon and DH has a Canon, and I enjoy them both!

My dad has an Olympus and it take amazing pictures - his is waterproof though, which means he takes great underwater pictures at the pool or on water rides - something to consider!!

Ooh, I never even thought about a waterproof camera before. That would be really neat to have. Thanks for the heads up!

I have a Canon powershot too I love it.

I'm beginning to notice a trend with the cameras. I think I may be leaning more towards a Canon. :thumbsup2

I really like the quality of pictures you've posted. :thumbsup2 You sound like me, I never read any manual. But then, I sit and complain about not know how to use whatever it is. :rolleyes1

What kind of Canon do you have?

I vote for the Sony camera just because it's a cool color. :rotfl:

HA!! That's one of the main reasons why I selected it. Isn't that sad? I saw a pink one too, but it didn't have the specs I was interested in. :sad2:

Powershot A1000IS. For $50 more than I paid, you can get a 12 mega pixel.:thumbsup2

I know I'm very late joining in, but after seeing you post on Carrie's PTR and my own PTR---I didn't even know you had a PTR of your own!

Very interesting stuff so far. I'm only through the first few links in your index, but will probably be done catching up by tomorrow depending on how bored I get at work. :thumbsup2

Ooh, not bad. How well do nighttime photos turn out with your camera? Mine always look really blurry and shaky. I'm thinking about getting a
gorillapod
to use with it, in hopes to get better pics at night.

Welcome! :wave2:

I have the tenancy to go on (and on) about all sorts of stuff on here. It provides a wonderful way to procrastinate at work. Sssh...don't tell anyone!

I feel the same way (and based on your responses to my PTR---I had a feeling your own PTR would have the same type of pointless ramblings as my own ;))

I haven't updated mine in a while---I'm not going until December and I'm trying to hold out as long as possible so I don't run out of stuff to post about.

Hmm...not sure how to take that. :rolleyes1

Oh trust me, if you're like me, you'll never run out of things to say. Now whether anyone else wants to read it...that's a different story. Thankfully, I'm completely amused by myself and find my hodge podge PTR to be an outlet of sorts. Maybe it's just a way to find an escape from work, maybe I just like to see how many times I can post about random things w/o getting a PM from the mods. Either way, I love it!

Sorry, I don't have any insight to offer on your camera issue (I don't even know what brand of camera we have, I just know that it fits in my park bag, so it's all good :lmao:). Was it you that posted those cool park restaurant menus? Oh, and how do you make the link to your PTR show up as your title instead of the link address? I think I need more coffee.. or more sleep.. or more brain cells! :rotfl:

Gee, not only did I not offer any opinions about cameras, but I asked you two questions - yep, I'm just the kind of subscriber everyone wants on their PTRs :laughing:

Hey Lisa! I just saw your link for your PTR. YAY, so glad you started one on here!!! :goodvibes It's really easy to create a link for your title. Basically, you'll just need to go into your signature and type out your title. Then, highlight it and click the "insert link" button up in the tool bar area. Once that pops up, just paste the link to your PTR and voila...there's your link!

Ha, I love that you just know the camera fits in your bag. That's awesome!! That's how I used to be, and kind of still am. I don't really care about the brand so much, but I do want it to take pretty nighttime pictures. Sad, I know.

I don't think I'm the menu person. I just use these. Here's another good site.

No worries, I'm happy to help. It gives my PTR substance.

Oh, you soooooo rock! :worship: I'm glad my pitiful pleas for help give your PTR substance - I'm happy to help :lmao:

Thanks for the menu links - I'll check them out! I need more stuff in my binder! :rotfl:

See, we help each other out.

I just love adding things to my WDW folder. Some times, I just pull it out and look through it. Not b/c I need to, but because I just love doing it. :rolleyes1

My camera broke on me several months ago. :sad2: Right now I am using my mother's until we can save up the money to pay for one. I have had an olympus and kodak but was leaning towards a canon this time. Honestly it will all depend on which one is on sale once we go shopping for one.

Me too! It's lime green, even :lmao: OK, I just went to look at our camera to see what it is (ds#2 took a picture of my tattoo for InkedUpMamma, so I remembered to look at it LOL) - it's a Sony Cybershot 5.1 megapixel. It works fine for us, I can tell you that (when we remember to have it with us, that is) :rotfl:

Oh no!! That was nice of your mom to let you borrow hers. It seems like Best Buy is constantly having sales on their cameras. Hopefully, we'll both find great deals!

Btw, I was really surprised on the quality of the Kodak camera I currently have. I really wasn't sure what to expect, but it's been really great. It's just getting a bit grumpy and old...time for it to be retired.

HA! That's even better. :thumbsup2 Speaking of lime green...I was thinking about heading to Home Depot and raiding their Mickey paint chips for the lime green ones. I always forget while I'm there.

Ooh, a Sony person! You're one of the first, I think. My sister has a Cybershot and she really likes hers, too. Plus, they come in snazzy colors that I just LOVE! not that I really need a hot pink camera, but the fact that I could get one is pretty cool. Pink is my signature color!!

Wow, I've been quite neglectful w/ this PTR. Whoops. I had very good intentions when I started it, but I kind of ran out of steam lately. No fear, for any readers I have left...I'm back. Hopefully, I'm not the only one who is excited about that. Now, onto some updating!

ADR Day
FINALLY, the day is nearly upon us. I can't believe how fast the last few weeks have flown by. I can make my one little sad ADR on Monday. Thank goodness it's Memorial Day, or I might've just had to suddenly become "sick" and call-in for work. :rolleyes1 From what I've been hearing it's been a crap shoot on how long it's taken people to get through. One person was on the phone for over FIVE hours. :scared1: Can you imagine that long distance bill? Uh, no thanks! Even w/ cell that would stink! Wish Disney's online system was up and running. Oh well.

Whispering Canyon Cafe
Sunday, 8/23 anytime after 5pm for dinner
OR
Friday, 8/28 anytime after 11:30am for lunch

Is it better for lunch, dinner or does it even matter??

Car Rental

The good news -- I was able to find something for UNDER $200!! :woohoo:
The bad news -- it's Thrifty, which is off-site. BOO! I figure, it won't be THAT bad, if we indeed stick with it.

Thrifty - $184.16/ 7 days/ Economy Size
Dollar - $228.40/ 7 days/ Economy Size

I had both of these both booked, but I canceled the Dollar one today. I know, some people hate when others have two car reservations. But, I'm not one of those people. :cool2:

I'm really hoping for some awesome last minute deals through Alamo or National. I really prefer something on-site. Not that we can't haul all our crap to the off-site location, but come on! That ten minutes really eats up our vacay time! :rotfl:

Pins and Yard Sales

I break for yard sales...it's true. I'm a yard sale feign. Something about rummaging through other peoples crap really is exhilarating! :thumbsup2 Last weekend, I went w/ my mom and MIL to a neighborhood and hit the mother load! I found three limited edition pin sets in their original packages in mint condition.

downsized_0516090858.jpg

  1. Disney Catalog - Animated Short Boxed Pin Set #5 (Good Scouts), originally $56.50/set
  2. Disney Catalog - 101 Dalmatians Pin Set, originally $62.00/set
  3. Disney Catalog - Animated Short Boxed Pin Set #6 (The Night Before Christmas), originally $56.50/set

I got all these pins for...$1.50 TOTAL!!!! The guy doing the yard sale hated them (his wife originally bought them) and desperately wanted to get rid of them. So, I wound up getting 22 limited edition pins that originally cost $175 for only $1.50. Crazy, eh? I almost felt bad after I found out how much they cost...but, not bad enough to go back and tell them about it.

Camera
I've decided to go w/ the Canon (thanks to Autumnpalm's AWESOME pictures in her TR :thumbsup2)!! It's on sale at Best Buy, so I'm going to head over there tomorrow. I'm kind of bummed, I keep thinking today is Friday and today's the day I'm picking up my camera! Sad.

They were on the phone for 5 hours?! :scared1:

I don't think it really matters between lunch and dinner for WCC. Unless, the CM's are crazier/more fun during one or the other. :confused3 Ask that question on the Restaurant Thread!

I know, right? I really hope it doesn't take me that long for just one. I don't know if I have the patience for that.

Yeah, I was wondering if it was more livelier in the evening. I'm off to the "Restaurant" thread to find out. Thanks for that suggestion!

I wouldn't be able to wait that long. Hopefully you don't have to!

You're welcome!

WOW :scared1:

I love your pins yey for yard sales. :cool1:

Love your plans and congrats on the new camera. :dance3:
