Ok, so we just returned from our first DCL and I have to say WOW! My husband and I have been on a Royal Caribbean cruise line before and DCL and amazing when you compare. So much more organized. Our only complaints are the slick/hot flooring around the pool. OMG! We saw several people, including adults, bust it several times. For any new cruisers with small children I do recommend water shoes b/c the kids were burning their feet.

Also, as we were suppose to be pulling out of Castaway Cay, a US Coast Guard helicopter landed. They took someone away on a stretcher. If the family is reading this, my thoughts and prayers are with you. It's great to know that we have the US Coast Guard if we need them.

We had so much fun we rebooked while on the ship. Yeah!!

It's so addicting isn't it!? We re-booked earlier this year after our first cruise. I can't wait to be back on board!!!

I can't imagine the scare that family had on your cruise. We sailed with my sister in January and her ds had a seizure on board the morning we got into PC. It was VERY scary, but not as scary as needing a helicopter!! My prayers are with them as well.

I am so glad to hear you loved your trip! It makes me even more excited for my first cruise, and its not until May 2010! I love coming here and reading all the good things and tips for the cruise!! Thanks!:woohoo:

Thats great, Im so glad you enjoyed your trip! It is wonderful isnt it? I hopethe familyof the person that was taken away by helicopter is okay!

This is the first time I have read any remarks about the hot/slick pool decking. I have wondered the same thing, why??? is it so hot/slick? I swear I lost a couple layers of skin on the bottom of my feet on our last cruise.
We luv luv luv DCL but I have always been curious about this. Maybe next cruise (10/2009) I will ask a CM for some insight.

Our first day on the cruise, there was a little boy(around 2, maybe) that was lost and walking around on the hot flooring. Some of our friends saw him and before they could get to him, he sat down and then burned his legs. It is really bad and yes I am surprised that I haven't heard any mention of this before. New cruisers should be aware. Not going to stop me from cruising again though.:rotfl:

I am also ready to book for the new ships. :dance3:

The boat was just in dry dock recently getting a makeover and they pulled all the old decking and replaced it with new. Maybe they used a different material this time. I don't remember ever thinking it was hot.

It really is a WOW! experience, isn't it?

There's just nothing like a DCL cruise . . . absolutely nothing!

We're in serious countdown mode at our house these days as we look forward to our July trip to Tortola. It cannot get here soon enough!

I am envious...

Please do file a trip report....look up at links at top of DCL Boards "home page".....

First-timer's reports are special because they see things through childrens' eyes of wonder.:thumbsup2

Just curious as to why you thought RCCL was less organized than Disney.
I have sailed on both and I have to say that I enjoyed RCCL just as much. I think they both have positives and negatives. I'd just like to hear what you thought was sooo much better?:confused3

We did go to Nassau as part of our western Caribbean cruise. The water temp at Castaway Cay was perfect. It seemed a little chilly first thing in the morning, but after a couple of hours it felt great.

how was the water temp at castaway cay?

Cool when first stepping into it, but you get use to it quickly. It got really warm sitting on the beach by noon, and at that time the water was very inviting. Sad, I wish I was still their.:sad1:
