"Free" extra DDP credits? Just a thought..

I was just thinking. We recently booked a trip for a family of 3 (2 adults, 1 child) in September, during the free DDP promotion. We got 3 sets of tickets, which include 3 DDPs.
What if I told them there was going to be 2 children in the room? I pay for another ticket and get another set of DDP credits for the non existent 4th person. Now when the 3 of us go to eat, can I take the 4th person's ticket and use their credits? It would almost become a deluxe plan this way.
Since I would never use the 4th person's ticket to enter a park, the 14 day expiration window would never start, so I could just use the park tickets next trip. Worst case, I could take the non-expiring option.
The room wouldn't cost any more, 3 or 4 people are the same price.
I don't like being devious, this is just theoretical, right?
:thumbsup2

Not possible. For one you would have kids credits .They can not be used for adult meal credits.

You may not like being devious, but sounds to me like you're describing a theoretical theft...:confused3

Our son is 14, so his DDP are adult meals

Then he is an adult not a child. 10 and up is adult for tickets and dining plan. But the correct answer is No. You are not supposed to do that per the rules of free dining.Creating "Phantom" guests is not allowed.Disney does sometimes ask to see all people in your party at check in day to avoid this, and restaurants will not allow you to use more credits than people present anyway.

Unfortunately you are not the first person to think of this. Quite a few people did it the first year free dining was offered. Back then even TS credits were not really divided into adult and child credits, so a couple would make up two phantom kids and spent the week eating three meals a day and dining at Signature restaurants. Disney caught onto it and the next year required that all guests had to be present at check in. I know I tried to check us in that year, while my husband was getting our carryons off the DME bus and my mom went to luggage services to get her rented ECV. Thankfully, they were both walking in the door, when the CM told me I had to produce them, so it wasn't a problem. Now days, the checks are only random, but you will still read where some people have had to produce their entire party at check in.

Presumably this is why they only allow you to add on a ddp (free or otherwise) if you have purchased park tickets too.

I dont think cheating the system is a good idea, just pay for your extra meals , i mean your already saving $$$ anyways since the dining is free is all.... just my option

Like Aubiree says - you may be required to produce the entire party at check-in. Disney's on to this one.

OP, I agree with the other posters. Another thought, your child will see what you are doing and it will make it more difficult for you to tell him that he must tell you the truth.

IMO, it is not worth it to cheat, theoretically or not. You will feel badly about it. :upsidedow

Slightly Goofy

Ya, it is a great idea, but like other posters say, Disney is onto this type of thing. Now we have never been asked for our entire party at either of our free dining trips, but it could happen. Who knows? But ya, it is a great idea.
I'm sure it has been done quite often, I bet even this past fall. I think I read somewhere where a lot of the locals were booking a one day ticket and a value room (with two adults and two teens) and not even using the rooms, just getting exspensive meals for the whole family for like 82 bucks a night, the cost of the room.

:sad2:
this clearly violates the DDP plan guidelines, thread is closed
