CS only plan with 2 TS meals OP?

I am in the beginning stages of planning a trip for just me and my DH. :lovestruc I am trying to decide to meal plan or not to meal plan although I really have plenty of time to think about it. We are wanting to go in early Dec. for 4 nights. We did the meal plan last summer with all the kiddos. It worked out fine but I found it to be a lot of food and a lot of waiting. We went in Aug so the park was fairly full but not overwhelming. On this trip I know I want to do 2 TS meals but would just as soon do CS for the remainder of the meals. With it being to two of us I am hoping we can be more flexible. Has anyone done the CS plan and then pay OP for a couple of TS meals? My estimated cost for the 2 TS meals I am looking at is $110. This doesn't include alcohol which would be our preferred beverage choice since we have no kiddos. ;) The cost difference to upgrade to the basic DP is $75 so it would it would be more reasonable to do the basic DP but somehow I am not wanting to do all the planning it takes for all the TS meals not to mention the waiting. It would also allow us to eat 2 extra meals on our trip if we got the CS only package. This of course would be breakfast which we would otherwise just grab a cereal bar on the way out the door. Just looking for a few opinions or if anyone has done this. Thanks!

It would cost your $80 to upgrade from the QS plan to the Basic DP. That is a $30 savings and you get and additional 2TS meals. That $30 will probably cover your alcohol budget.

I'd suggest using those 2 extra TS credits for one Signature meal, esp since it is jus the two of you.

I am doing the same thing as you...QSDP and paying OOP for 2 meals. I am putting my son on the plan who will be 2, we are DVC so wont have to pay for the ticket for him, so this makes more sense, since he will eat at the buffet for free.
I dont want to have sit down for a ton of meals so that is why we will be doing it this way! HTH

I thought of that but I would still pay OP for 2 additional meals. My DH doesn't share well so sharing CS meals to make those credits last longer won't work for us. We did a lot of sharing on our past trip but that was when we had 5 people to work with. On our last trip we ended up with 4 unsued CS credits.

You have $30 in savings to pay for any extra meals or snacks. If you book 4TS meals and eat 4CS meals you'll be even.

Duh! You are so right. Why didn't I think of that. I am also thinking that If I plan on meal on our arrival night and then maybe due breakfast at Boma or Kona on our departure day then we won't mess with our park time. We will only have three days to enjoys the parks so I don't want to spend that time waiting for a table or service.

But don't forget with the table service meals on the DDP you will have to pay tips. So its not ONLY the difference in the cost of the QSDP and the regular DDP. You need to account for the extra tips it will cost you.

In your original plan, you will only need to pay for tips for 2 TS meals. If you get the regular DDP, you will need to pay for tips for all TS meals.
