Supercallifragilistic-ADR'sApproachUs! May '09 PTR *Trip Report has Begun! Pg. 208*

I have a purchased a plethora of bags in the last year with Disney in mind. It's been a never ending quest for the perfect park bag.

Let's take a walk down Bag Lane, shall we?

The very first bag I purchased with Disney in mind was this beauty (Mine is all Pink & Silver, no camo). $12.96 from Walmart. I had a bag almost exactly like this on my trip in 2005 and it worked awesome. I love it, such a comfy strap and easy to carry.

I wasn't feeling it. It cut across me in an unflattering way and just felt bulky.

Onto another bag.

The Overland Donner Bag. We went to REI to purchase this one. Felt great and we used on a test run on our honeymoon in Bermuda. It cut into my neck so bad that it left marks. Back to the bag drawing board.

I kept hearing great things about Baggallini's. I didn't actually buy one but went to the store to check it out. Just not comfy for me.

The store we went too sold Vera Bradley bags. I had heard a lot so I decided to get one. Java Blue Messenger Bag for $84. Did I pick the one that was on clearance for $35. Oh no, I wanted the pretty pattern! I used it on the first day in Disney and decided that it made me feel like a pack mule.

I bought this in the Pop Century Gift Shop. Worked like a charm but hated have take it off and on for each attraction as I couldn't sit with it on. I didn't want to crush my camera.

Ever since I booked my May trip, I have been on a quest for the perfect bag. I bought the cutest Vera Bradley Hipster on Ebay. It's a discontinued pattern, Piccadilly Plum. I bought it for $27 with shipping. Not too shabby.

Then another traveling companion was going to be joining me.

No way was my camera and Nobby the Gnome going to fit in that hipster.

Boo.

So I bought another Vera Bradley bag, in Capri Melon. For the life of me, I can't remember what style this is and I can't find it on the Vera site. Sorry. EDIT: CARGO SLING! I remembered!

Now I use this bag daily. It's become my work bag. It's not really a Disney bag. I want to be able to wear something across my body and it's just too tight.

I haven't bought a bag in months. For fear that Marc would kill me and for the fact that I couldn't find anything I really liked.

I found this one on Zappos this week, the Kavu Sydney Sling.

I *think* this bag would work for most. It was comfy, roomy, would fit everything I need BUT the strap just wasn't long enough. I was afraid once everything was in it, it would be too uncomfortable.

Sigh. I received this last bag yesterday. An hour later I was off to Wal*Mart. I told myself id I didn't find anything I would just use the very first bag I bought last year. You can imagine Marc's look on his face when I told him this. In my defense, I used it while we were moving and it was very comfortable...in fact, I think I am going to bring it to Disney, just in case.

ANYHOO...I went to Wal*Mart and went straight to the bag section. I was texting back and forth with Jen at this point and told her if I didn't find something soon, I was going to go with the Fanny Pack. :lmao: No offense to Fanny Pack users but it's just not me.

This is what I found.

I have sense cut the small black strap off of the bag and threaded that pretty pink scarf thingy through the bag to use as the strap.

VOILA! I have got a bag. The scarf thingy is so soft and slight stretchy. The best thing is that I can adjust it to the length that I want. The silver hoops that had the black handle are going to be cut off. Marc thinks his Dad has a tool strong enough to cut through them. I have threaded the scarf thingy through where they are attached. It would have been perfect if they had a black scarf but they didn't.

How much did this bag cost? $15.00 total. $15! :rolleyes1 I don't even want to add up everything I have spent on bags in the last year.

So what do you think? Does it look completely silly? I am very self conscious about my bag. You would think that I would have reached the point where I don't care what people think of me. :rotfl: Marc tells me it looks fine but he would tell me that a trash bag attached to a lanyard looked good at this point. :lmao:

Ah. The bag woes. I think we all know the story...

Haha. That's a LOT of bags, LL. Really. But quite humorous. I hope that this bag works out for you in the end... :rolleyes1

A trash bag attached to a lanyard. :rotfl: Well that could be a whole new trend! :lmao:

I like it! And I actually like the touch of color w/ the pink scarf vs. a black one. Bags are very personal and as you said it has to feel good on. I am forever tinkering with my strap length. And I'm still not sure I've found the perfect bag either.

Which gives me an  Maybe together we can add up all of our requirements in a bag and come up with the perfect park bag. Spot for your sunglasses, camera, easy access to your ticket and fast passes, place for your water bottle, easy way to display LGMH....

We'd make millions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :upsidedow

What a cute idea to thread the scarf through!!! I really like it!

Alrighty, quit sleeping, girl, and get my morning photo update up! I need a LL picture fix! :rotfl:

You really like it? I think I am going to take a picture of me with it on today, once I have beautified myself. I wasn't picture worthy last night. :lmao:

We really should! I have a sewing machine so we could tinker with models. :lmao:

Oh good! I'm glad you all like it.

I'm working on it! Geez! ;)

This looks like a good solution! You want it to be comfortable, so why not? I like the pattern ;) And you can't beat $15.00!

Meeting Mary Poppins was the best Character Interaction that I had last trip. She was Practically Perfect in every way. ;) It was so unexpected, especially since we had canceled our 1900 Park Fare breakfast that morning and then I was sitting in the Town Hall Exposition and there she comes walking out. Me, in my Mary Poppins shirt and everything! I literally beamed throughout our lunch at Tony's and all the way home.

Once she saw my shirt, she even picked the best background for us to stand in front of for our picture....I think she picked the perfect one. :cloud9:

Me beaming at Tony's.

Two days before, I had stalked her in Epcot. She was near the area where Characters go backstage. So we sat there and waited and then we followed her to her greeting area. Not stalker-ish at all....:rolleyes1

I wish I was talented enough to photoshop out the character handler because it would be such a neat picture!

After we met her, we ate our Fish N' Chips across from where she was greeting. It was so awesome to sit there and watch her interact with the little kids. Then I just happened to get one last shot of her leaving.

I really hope I get to meet her again. :lovestruc

:rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:

I've gotten my DIS routines I like to follow. :thumbsup2

You clearly do, CP!!! That is the teacher in you!!! Who else in the world is used to being up at the crack of dawn!! I was up at 6:45 this am, which is easy to do for some quiet and coffee with the sun coming through the windows!!!! :goodvibes Feels like spring here, what about where you are LL and CP?!!

I will not be the one to mess with CP's morning routines! :rotfl2:

No, you really can't beat $15! It's cute and I think it will fit everything. :thumbsup2

It's actually quite warm here today, in the 80's. Being on the 3rd floor is making it a tad stuffy. I won't complain though! Beat snow and rain. I think Spring has finally arrived!

Yeay! You had two awesome Mary Poppins interactions, LL! I just love the story of meeting her in the Magic Kingdom! It was so perfect!

We love meeting Mary Poppins! She is one of my mom's favorite characters, and we have met her on three of our trips! She's always so pretty in her Jolly Holiday dress!

I know it! I slept until 8:00 today, and I felt like I had slept forever! :rotfl: It is sunny and warm here this morning -- coffee outside with the dogs was heavenly! I am enjoying it while I can since we are supposed to have rain later in the week.

26 days til Mary Poppins! Yippee!! I loved the story of your chance encounter with her on the last trip. Pure magic and you are beaming in your picture!

26 days! That's practically around the corner!! :yay:

How did I not read yesterday? :confused3 anyways, I like the new bag and I agree with Christine, the pink with the black and white will look really nice. I have started watching bags in the store with gnomefest in mind. I had a 1 strap backpack on my last trip which was OK but I'm leaning toward something along the lines of the hipster this time.

Love the pics of Mary! :thumbsup2

I missed yesterday because I went to a mobile spa party all day. Catching up. Love the Mary pics. I forget from your first trip report. Is that the exact same Mary- working in both parks- weird?? :confused3

Anyway, if you ever want to get a bag...or 7...off your hands...I know someone an equally as bad "bag problem" :rolleyes1

It really was the perfect moment, scratch that, the perfect unplanned moment. :thumbsup2

I know! It's really hit home this weekend that it's right around the corner! :woohoo:

May the bag force be with you. :rotfl2: I hope you have much better luck than I have.

Ooh, a mobile spa party?! That sounds interesting.

It was the same Mary. She was a really good Mary too. :thumbsup2

:lmao: to your bag problem. I listed the Vera Messenger on Ebay last night. I need to de-bag myself. :lmao:

I love your new bag. I think the new pink strap really makes the bag. :thumbsup2
Thanks! I am pretty happy with it. :thumbsup2

LL! I think I had told you a while back that I heard there was going to be a topiary scavenger hunt at Epcot. Well here are some more details:

It starts behind Spaceship Earth at the Festival Information booth there and runs from 10am to 5pm daily.

Still a little vague, but I think it sounds like fun!

I'm so very sad that the special polka dotty bag doesn't work, but I love the new choice. How creative of you to switch out the strap for a scarf. The pink with black and white looks very cosmopolitan to me.:thumbsup2

Your series of pictures with Mary Poppins really tell a neat story, not at all stalkerish.;)

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the new bag! I will not dare to tell my Marc that you found it at WalMart, he will want me to return all of my various Veras........
I can't wait to see you modeling!

Thanks for posting the Mary pictures, reminded me that I need to find the perfect T to make that one. Do you mind if I choose pink?

Do you think that maybe you could wear that pink shirt when I'm searching for you at MK on the 29th?:rotfl:
