Kat,
Just wanted to say I hope your dog's okay.. i hate when dogs are sick  :flower3:

Thanks. She had an upset tummy and her arthritis is acting up. We took her for her "senior" check up today and she has an infection in her eye and also on her skin...so no shots today. First a round of antibiotics, eye cream and then back for her shots. It is he** getting old...as I know and my sweet Cookie now knows. :sad2:

Has anyone tried the Online Check-In yet? I'm wondering if I check in now from Home if that will ruin my chances of my requests getting met:confused3

I'm days away today, and not sure what to do, too may Choices :rotfl:

This is my first post but I've been visiting for a few months now preparing for my trip. We just got back this morning from a 4/3 trip and stayed at CSR.

Thanks to all of you, DH, DS (6) and I enjoyed our room on the ground floor of Cabanas 9A, close to the quiet pool and laundry, and just a quick walk from El Centro and the Dig Site. We were originally assigned a non-renovated room in Ranchos 7A but asked nicely and were moved to Cabanas at check-in. When we first booked, I picked deluxe for the queen beds since DH is 6'4" (started with CR, then changed to WL) but after reading this thread decided to save $1000 and move to CSR. We'd stayed there years ago, before kids, during a freezing Feb., and hadn't loved it - but this time it was terrific. Room was comfortable, Dig Site was fun, food at the Pepper Market was good (though the scavenger hunt style of ordering wasn't my favorite). The savings paid for our dining plan and nearly all the bells and whistles on our park tickets.

Also thanks to all the great tips on the boards, we were there during the busiest week of the year and never waited more than 10 minutes for any ride except two (my husband waited 30 minutes for Rock & Roller Coaster in the singles line and 20 minutes for Expedition Everest at opening). In fact, we did almost an entire MK plan from touringplans.com by 10:30AM yesterday. We were leaving the parks for a break most days when the crowds were streaming in. We enjoyed the afternoon at Blizzard Beach yesterday and an afternoon at Disney Quest on Tuesday, visited family at the beach on Thursday but spent every other day park hopping. Rented a car for part of the week but also used Magical Express and the transportation system which were great.

An unforgettable vacation - thanks so much to everyone for your great information!

Welcome back. Thanks for the review. So glad you enjoyed your stay at the CSR and that they were able to move you to a renovated room!

i hope she feels better soon ~ hopefully the antibiotics and cream will do the trick

you're right about getting old.. not a fun part in the whole aging process, for us and especially dogs.. they're so helpless that you can't help but feel sorry for them! :dog2:

another question although I think it's been asked before....

The marina is closed while we're at CSR so if I wanted to get a life jacket for a member of my family to use at the pool where would I get it from? Thanks!

You can get life jackets at the pool (dig site). They have bins on the right hand side. They do however sometimes run out when it is busy.
Have a good trip

We used online check-in and our request was met. We requested being near the fitness center and were in Casita 4.

Has anyone got a picture of "Glen"? I am sure that i saw one but this thread moves so fast that one nights sleep and i seem to have lost it.

I want to print it off so that we recognise him when we go in a months time!!!!!:rotfl2:

renovations?? i heard nothing about renovations at CSR... What sections have been done? Does anyone know the schedule?

i am going to be there for my honeymoon in October, and i REALLY would prefer not to be next to construction. Also, i am in a wheelchair and use a handicapped accessible room with a roll-in shower... does anyone know if these are spread out, or do they have them in one end of the hotel/one type of building (casita, etc)? I am a little confused, even though i am a disney veteran, so i am definitely looking for advice!

about "glen" the alligator... can anyone tell me where "he's" usually hanging out, if it's in one specific area that he's seen most?? I'd love to see him when we're there, although that's not 'til the end of november, but i'd still like to see him. i just have this weird fascination with alligators. :confused3

I usually see him by the Cabanas.

We just got back from a crazy spring break trip to Disney, staying at CSR. Beautiful resort. We used online check in, which didn't speed anything up for us at our Saturday 5:00pm arrival. Actually, we had done online check in for 2 rooms, and something was screwed up with one room, so they had to redo check in anyway. Not worth it, in my opinion. We did get the requests we made - connecting rooms near the main pool - Rancho 7B.

Our rooms were clean and our mousekeeper was awesome - for the first 5 days. She always did something fun for the kids in the window or on the bed. The last 2 days we must have had someone else and everything was still fine, but our coffee was not replenished...

Our room location was great - very close to the quiet pool and a close walk to the dig site, which the kids absolutely loved - we spent many collective hours there. Also, it was a very reasonable walk to the main building. Our room wasn't redone, but it was fine.

The only thing I didn't like about the location was that we were bus stop 4 - the buses were always full by the time they came to us - we either had to stand or didn't even get on! But, that was during crazy spring break (capacity-reaching) time :scared1:, it might be fine other times.

We weren't crazy about the food offerings and missed the Pop/All-Star food courts - good variety and decent Disney prices. Pepper Market was cool, but just too expensive and not enough variety at the pool and Cafe Rix. The only downfall of an otherwise wonderful resort. We would definitely stay here again in a few years.

Thanks for all the help on this thread prior to our leaving!!:)

I will see if I can answer some for you. They started Reno's this past October and are scheduled to be completed this October. Cabana's I believe are completed, Casita, the top floor is done and I believe they are currently working over there now. Ranchos, I know there is some sections done just don't recall which ones.

They are breaking the reno up by buildings, so not to disturb the guests. Since you are going in October, you may miss all of the reno work.

As far as anything with the handicapped rooms, I am no help there. Maybe JamesLynn will be around sooner or later and can answer that.

ETA... Ok, found this post from KatMark.
The rehab is scheduled to be completed by October 09. They started this past October. They have all four buildings in the Cabanas done, two buildings in the Ranchos and portions of the Casitas. They started Casitas 4 this week.

Thanks! We decided to rent a car or take a cab when we have to, because of the wheelchair - i can't have people bump into me without hurting me, so buses seem like a bad idea!

anyway, i am looking for advice on a QUIET area. Neither my soon-to-be-wife nor I are going to swim more than once, and we won't eat at the food court, so I am all for a quiet king room with a water view that is quiet! I don't need it close to bus, pool, or anything! I am all ears for ideas!

6 months til the wedding! :bride::bride:

If you aren't interested in being close to the food or pool, I would suggest the Ranchos. It is the LEAST requested area because it is the farthest from the food and pool and I have read that it is very quiet there.
