Yet another lazy start today with neither of us getting up until 8:15 and most of the morning being spent pottering around in the room. We went out at 11:00 and parked up in Marketplace before wandering over to the Christmas shop and Art of Disney for a browse around.

At 11:45 we wandered over to T-Rex where we immediately spotted Michelle (Snowy-girls) and her family waiting patiently for us. Michelle checked us in and we were seated more or less immediately just next to the mammoths. The girls had pizza and chips, which we were told would be brought out before the adults meals so bear that in mind if you intend ordering from the children’s menu, Dad, Michelle and Tony had steak and I had lasagne (trust me to be different). The service was maybe a little slow but I didn’t mind as that meant there was longer for us to chat and, for a table full of shy people, the conversation flowed quite freely. We swapped stories of our respective holidays and made sure to get a few photos.

I had been a bit worried about the noise level after reading how noisy the restaurant was but we were able to hold a conversation quite easily apart from when the meteor shower started up every twenty minutes. Michelle and Tony were very friendly and the children were very well behaved (or were terrified of the two strange men ) so thank you Michelle for a wonderful lunch and we look forward to meeting you again soon.

After lunch we said our goodbyes and went for a wander around the rest of the restaurant and the shop before heading back out into Downtown Disney.

We wandered back over to the Christmas shop where we bought a tree-topper.

We then went back to the car and drove over to the Transportation and Ticket Center where we parked up in Happy 91 and went over to the monorail station where we let a couple of trains go so that we could get to ride in the front and I could video the journey. Once we arrived at the Magic Kingdom gates we walked over to the Contemporary Resort where Dad bought me a watch for my birthday.

We then had a drink in the Contempo Café before walking back to the monorail station where we were able to get in the front of the first monorail that came in and I could video the rest of the loop. We got the tram back to the car and were back in the studio for 4:20.

Around 5:45 we decided to go out and have a look at the Bay Lake Tower room models so we wandered over to the DVC preview centre. I wasn’t sure if taking photos was allowed but I snapped a few anyway.

After viewing the rooms we went over to the bar where Dad had a margarita and I had a strawberry basil lemonade before going back to the studio where we had some nibbles and spent the evening relaxing before going to bed at 10:00 ready for a day at Hollywood Studios tomorrow.

Day 12

What did you think to the BLT rooms?
We did the tour on 2/4 and really liked both the BLT and AKV model rooms. We also took a trip over to the Contemp. to look at the BLT in "the flesh" - I must admit I was won over (ok maybe I didn't need much persuading :lmao:).
I love the tree topper and the watch - very classy!

You have managed to meet a few fellow DISers this trip. :thumbsup2 Glad to hear T Rex is not too loud, it's top of DS's list this summer.

It must have been great meeting up with another "Dis"er! Were you tempted by BLT??

It was great. Michelle and I get on really well on the boards and it was so nice to finally meet her and her family, who were just as nice although I think Chloe and Emily, despite Dad's best efforts, were overcome by shyness.

I was tempted by BLT when they made the official announcement and even e-mailed our guide to say we were interested but then we decided that adding on enough points for a long stay was too expensive and just a minimal add-on wasn't worth it so we've shelved the idea for now. We also mentioned selling our AKL contract and buying BLT but, on balance, I would rather have the savannah view.

The rooms looked great and I'll definitely be staying there in the future. Hopefully the year after next when I intend going over for double 40th birthday celebrations - mine and Walt Disney World's.

We did and just missed out on meeting Catherine (Tink2312) at the American Idol show as neither of us knew the other was there until I posted my trip report for that day.

Sounds great! I can't wait for the 40th celebrations either - I'm really excited to know what kind of special events they're going to do. No special birthday that year for me though ;)

I love the look of the BLT rooms. :thumbsup2

What did you thnk of the food at T-Rex? I thought it was good when we went in Dec & I have booked it again for Sept.

As far as I remember all of the plates went back empty (apart from the garlic bread that came with my lasagne that I didnt eat) so make of that what you will. ;)

We all definitely enjoyed it and I wouldn't hesitate to go back there again.

Glad your meet went well at T-Rex with Michelle & family :goodvibes

BLT's room's look very swish :), ohhhh maybe one day ;)

great pics, just given me the idea of looking around BLT too.
need to work DVC out 1st :rotfl2:

You could always stay there on cash or rent points. Or just break in one night as you are staying at the Contemporary next door. ;)

Another great day, T-Rex looks awesome.

T-Rex was really great but one thing I forgot to mention was that we walked into the Ice Cave section after we ate. The walls in there change colour every few seconds and we all said that it would have done our heads in if we had been seated in there for our meal. On the plus side it did feel a lot cooler in that section.

Lovely rooms at BLT there, maybe one day if someone else is paying..! :rotfl: T-rex looks like a fun place to eat, and fab company too :goodvibes

Thanks for a look at the new Tower rooms. And about the shy younger members at the DIS Meet--could be they were concerned about being surrounded by dinosaurs at a feeding time.
