Make a Wish (and other organizations!) - Wish Trippers...UNITE!! Volume 2!

Not open for further replies.
Hello again!
I posted a couple of nights ago, about my family, our wish trip child is my daughter Azaria, and there is my son Aidan (4) who has a severe peanut allergy, and our oldest son Christopher who is 21 and will be joining us. (In one of the replies, someone mentioned my father, he is not going with us. I think that was a mix up with someone else.) Anyhow, I just wanted to thank everyone for welcoming us.

I guess the first thing I need to do is get 10 posts, right? I really want to see maroo's planner, so can someone advice me on where to post 10 replies. I don't want to flood this area with posts unless that is how you do it.

So my next step is to start a list of things that we will want to do at Disneyworld. My biggest fear is that we will be wandering around aimlessly wasting time because of poor planning. My time, especially computer time, is so limited, so I'm probably going to rely on you all for lots of ideas. I have been trying to read a lot of the trip reports, they've been helpful. It's really kind of hard since I don't know what to expect or what Disneyworld has to offer.

I would like to create a pre-trip report but I am not sure how. I'd like to post a couple of pictures of my family so you can start putting faces with names too.

Thanks for your help,
Debi

Morning Debi:

If you go to page 1 of this thread there is a FAQ link on how to start a pre trip thread. It is in comment #2. You can ask your questions on your PTR (pretrip report) or here. Don't worry about asking too many and filling up the thread with tons of posts....Maroo will just start volume 3 ;)

GREAT NEWS!!!!!:banana::banana::banana::dance3::dance3:

Liam's Doctor has officially cleared him for his trip.:cheer2::cheer2:

Unfortunatly the days in July and August that I suggested were already booked up so that will be a no go. I just emailed Iris that any time in September would be good. Looking more at the second or third week so Liam can get a nice introduction into 1st grade. I didn't want him missing a week of school since we will probably miss lots more with Dr appts and illness but sometimes you need to put your families happiness above school. I am sure he will be able to make it up especially so close to the beginning.

So any way, I should have some real dates real soon. :yay::woohoo::cloud9:

I am so glad to hear your trip has been blessed by Liam's doctor. I think it is a wise decision to let him get accustomed to everything at school before leaving for the trip. Everyone is "new" at the beginnning of the year. He will be able to share his enthusiasm for his trip with all his new friends and they will celebrate with him when he gets back.

My son missed 26 days of school the year he got back from his surgery. You do what you have to do, and with chronically ill children, the school understands. Those front office ladies will become your allies!

Keep us posted on your plans.

You don't have to worry about that one. I will probably be on the computer about 2 seconds after I get off the phone telling everyone the very exciting news.:banana::woohoo::woohoo::cool1:

I can't wait to find out the dates so I can change my signature and add one of thoose cool count down pictures. If any one can give me suggestions for sites with good ones please let me know.:dance3:

Thanks everyone for the Disney Nights link. I am heading out now to take a look.:hug:

First, you can go ahead and post right here...if that would be easier. Or you can click on this thread...

CLICK on THIS and Post 10 times so that you can post pictures and send PM's!

We would love to try to help you so that you don't wander around aimlessly! You should probably purchase a little Disney World guide so that you can read up on each park and ride so that you guys will know what your "Don't Miss" things are! :)

I will be glad to help you with a planner so that you can decide which parks to go to on the particular days. :)

And you can check out the links on post #2 (page 1) of this thread and there is a post there that will tell you how you can start a pre-trip report!! :)

Getting Close! Actually, add two days to my tracker. It was set up before they changed our dates.

Our MAW reps came over today with our trip info. No MAW tees or buttons, so I got online and ordered some. Hope they make it here before our trip.

Okay, MAW families ... did anyone else feel a little overwhelmed/down before their trip? I hate to even admit that, with this incredible gift we're being given, but I'm just feeling a little scattered, and ... I don't know. :confused3

I think part of it is the ambivalence about the whole thing. I KNOW some of you MAW parents understand that.

I think the other is just brain-overload. I'm giving myself a lecture right now that a) I need to release any expectations and just go with the flow and b) I'm not personally responsible for making sure everyone in my family has a blissful time.

What a whiner! :lmao:

Hi,

Yesterday, I got a pleasant suprise. I took someone's advice about checking the budget board to find a photo pass group. Most I found for June were already filled. I tried a few and got in a group:banana::banana::banana:.

I had a very kind person on the group pay my part and let me join there group - woo hoo.:worship: This made me cry to think that someone would do this for a total stranger. Now I need to make sure I get lots of pictures. :cloud9:

Any advice on video cameras. I was thinking of buying one with my tax money. Have you used them, what brand do you like best. Do they get in the way, do you miss too much of other things going on around you while you are taping? or is a digital camera better?? I'm trying to decide if it would be worth buying one.

So far you all have been a great help.:dance3:

Diane

Neat news about the photopass :)

If you are staying at GKTW they have video cameras that they loan out for the time you are there. They even provide the CD's to film onto.

:)

I had a good video camera that I used ... oh, maybe on Christmas and Easter, some birthdays.

Last year, I got a Flip video (http://www.theflip.com/) and I use it all the time. You can see some of the videos I've done at Love Through Action.

The quality is better than the youtube videos -- when you prepare them for uploading, the quality is lessened. But if I burned them onto a DVD, they'd be much clearer.

The Flip doesn't have all the bells and whistles of regular video cams, but it's small enough to carry in a fanny pack, or even your pocket. I got mine for about $100. And since it's so little, you don't really miss things going on around you. But it's all about what you want to do with it.

As to which is better, this or a digital camera ... ooh, I don't know. I really like my "still" camera, too.

Honey, you are not the first - nor the last - Disney trip planner to feel this way, lol. This veteran of 45+ trips still has to have that discussion with myself EVERY trip.

It will all be fine! The volunteers at GKTW want nothing more than to be allowed to help you have a wonderful trip. Oh, and remember the empty bag - maybe a folding duffle? for all the things you will receive.

Wishtrippers - remember to pm your kids names, ages, favorite Charactor, dates of trip and SNAIL MAIL ADDY to me, LindaBabe, aka the fairy grandmother. My next trip isn't until November but I will send postcards to them with appropriate messages. By then you'll have forgotten you sent me the info so it will be a surprise to you, too. (Maroo, could you please put this in your post on the first page? I don't remember to post it often enough.)

Do not use your money on a Camera, the one's they have at GKTW are really good, and they give you the discs and burn them so you can take them home on the last day. I brought mine and never used it. Only used theirs.

Whoa!

That is freaky..I was just thinking about you guys! :scared1:

How are you guys doing?

and I completely agree with this! :) You can save that money and use it for something special for your family. Unless you just want to have one for home use, too.

You can check it out when you get there and take it to the parks and everything! And they will even download the pictures and video and put it on a CD or CDs for you. :)

You are not a whiner! :sad2: Feeling scattered is totally normal. This is sort of a whirlwind!

But... to release your expectations and go with the flow is a very, very good idea! There are no perfect wish trips (except the ones we plan before we go!)...but it WILL be magical!! And a trip you will never forget! For you and everyone in your family.

that is fantastic! :)

I think I already answered on the video camera...I would just use the one that GKTW will give you...unless you just want to buy one.

How are you guys doing?

We are fine, just busy with everything going on here. Aidan has medical work being done tomorrow. They are capping teeth and such that were destroyed by the medicine's in the NICU. He then go's in for feeding therapy next Monday. This will last four weeks, five days a week and be 8 hours a day. We are hoping to bring out a feeding boy. I started a new position at work, more work, but not more money at this time.

So it's just life as usual, however there is one really good thing...

Happy Easter everyone! I think we all have to much to be thankful for! Enjoy this special day with your family and remember to give thanks for these special children we have been given!

Myself, David and Becca would like to wish everyone a Happy Easter.

The Easter Bunny just arrived in Becca's room :lmao:

We have so much to be grateful for this Easter Day......Becca's improving health, all of our friends and especially our support group at Church and our support group on this very board.
The prayers that have been said over the past months whilst Becca has been sick have truly made a miracle happen.

Love
Mandy
