i know we could use the DLR shuttle, but don't they drop you off at one hotel and then put you on smaller vans... and then wouldn't we need a car seat at that point?

are there any other options... for a mom that is normally very strict about car seats (i.e. dd was rear facing until almost 3 1/2 yrs old... and will be in a 5 point harness for a long time)?

we will have 3 adults, a small 5 yr old and and infant coming from john wayne. i would prefer to get a taxi van to take us directly to our hotel, but just the thought of lugging 2 seats around the airports, on and off the planes and installing them in both the taxis and planes makes me want to reconsider!

i'd love to hear any ideas! oh - i've already looked into the ride safer travel vest and dd will not wear it.

I think if you make an advance reservation for the taxi & tell them that you need a booster seat for the 5 year old, they'll bring one. I believe the CA rule is 6 or 60 lbs. My very tall DS was 60 lbs and he looks 6 or 7, so we were OK last trip -- he was 5 yrs + 2 mos.

I was going to suggest the Ride Safer, but I see that's out for you. What about the Safeguard Go seat? I've considered that one if we take another plane trip while we still have two of our kids in harnessed seats--I've done two Britax seats on the plane, and it wasn't the most fun I've ever had. I've tried my kids in the Safeguard Go, and it seemed a good option (I'm pretty sure it requires LATCH though, and not sure if all the Taxis would have LATCH).

The Disneyland Express is a bus and remains a bus, even after the DLH stop and possible reshuffle of what bus you're on. Bus = no seatbelts = no carseats.

so it would be a bus after the drop off at DLH and continuing on to disney's grand californian?

does anyone know if the grand is one of the first stops after a DLH? or roughly how long it would take from john wayne to the grandwith the disney express?

We did this recently w/ a 3 year old and 12 month old. Checked a booster and carseat (they do not count as checked luggage) and took a Supershuttle van. The airport is very quiet and pretty stress free. The driver helps load and unload the luggage which left many hands for the young ones and their paraphanalia. Worked great both ways!

This is what I did with my JUST turned 5 yo. The graco booster seats come apart. I just took the booster bottom. You could almost carry on, but they put it in a bin. you can get just a bottom at toys r us for like $16.

so the super shuttle vans are like buses... no seat belts? i bet that would be faster than the disney express!

oh - that's a good idea too! we have the graco nautilus... which can be used as a backless booster i believe.

No, please don't mistake this - they aren't like buses - they are vans - you will need a car seat with them.

Keep in mind that shuttles are owned by a company, but are cared for by their independent drivers. The qualtiy of the driver varies. I personally would do the official DL Express bus over the shuttle. It is a much safer vehicle and if you are worried about getting from the DLH to the Grand - it's literally across the street - about 1 block walk. If you don't have to lug a car seat, you have no worries.
