The in-n-out thread got me thinking of Chick-fil-A. I have only been once and it was in Florida, we did not eat, just went thru drive thru and got the BEST milkshake I think I have ever had.
So I looked on the chick-fil-a website and it list quite a few for CA, including one in Long Beach, which is the airport we are flying into.

So my questions--
how is their food?
Was it a fluke (ie I was really hot, or was on vacation or had not had a milkshake in a year, etc etc) that my milkshake was fabulous, or are they really that good?
Is there one convienent between Long Beach airport and Hojo or between Hojo and Legoland?
Is it worth a stop for food, for milkshake or for nothing?

Yes. Their shakes are pretty darn good! We have them all over the place here in Texas and it's the most popular fast food restaurant in our area. Often there are cars wrapped completely around the building!

I think their original chicken sandwich is excellent. It's basically a fried chicken breast, pickles and bun but oh.so.tasty.and.juicy. They also have good lemonade and a carrot and raisin slaw that's pretty interesting.

We live in Washington now, but are transplants from North Carolina. On every trip east to see family Chick-fil-a is a mandatory stop. Really wish they'd get up to the Pacific NW.

There is a Chick fil A in Long Beach right off of the 605 freeway and Carson/Lincoln Ave. I've been to that one. Its right next to In N Out also.

and at first, we loved it. Then I saw some info about their "nutritional" facts. YIKES! I'm already pooh-sized and my boys go back and forth between fluffy and not...depending on the season and what sports they are in at the time. None of us need the calories!

I had no idea that chicken nuggets can have such a variety of calories per serving. After doing some research I've gone back to letting my boys eat the regular nuggets at McDonalds!

There have been tons of commercials for Chick-fil-A here in Vegas , but we don't have one.........hmmmmmmm....maybe coming soon :confused3

They have the best lemonade ever! And their chicken nuggets are not that bad for you. DH loves the restaurant, and so does DSis. I love the grilled sandwhich with the tomato and lettuce. With the honey bbq chipolte sauce, it comes in around 300 cals. YUM!

Oh and the shakes are TO DIE FOR! They had a limited time coffee caramel type shake once, and I thought I was in heaven. Now, I only had it once because it has like a day's worth of calories for me, but it was the most delicious milk shake ever and totally worth it!!!!

I agree, the original chicken sandwich is really good. They also have really good crisscut fries and lemonade. DH likes the chicken nuggets (lots of dipping sauces to choose from).

I've never tried a shake so now I'm curious and will have to try one next time we go. We had one open near us about a year or so ago which i was so excited about because there used to be one a long time ago in the town where i grew up and then it closed.

There is one in Ontario (in CA, not canada :rotfl:) if anyone is flying into the ontario airport or going over to the Ontario Mills Shopping center. It's also next to an In-n-Out. And there is one in Redlands if anyone is traveling west on the 10. It's very close to the freeway but you can't see it from the freeway.

Chick-fil-a chicken nuggets..yes, the small box...have 400 calories and 1250 mg. of sodium.

McDonald's chicken nuggets...Happy Meal...have 280 calories and 400 mg of sodium.

Perhaps when you are in your youth those numbers don't qualify as "that bad", but when you hit your mid-40's, you'll realize there is a WORLD of difference between the two.

Not that any junk food is good for kids, but, as a mother, I'd rather choose the lesser of the two evils.

Oh now, let's not compare the lemonade at Chick Fil A to the lemonade Hot Dog on a Stick, there is NO comparison. The lemonade at Wetzel's Pretzels is better than at Chick Fil A. I love Chick Fil A but avoid it because of the sodium content.....geez I'm not even "old" and if I ate that much sodium in one meal my dr would kill me!!!! That's why I try to avoid fast food all together......

Thanks everyone. Now that I know I was not making things up thinking the milkshake was SO SO SO delicious, we will make stop. I am thinking I will bribe the kids for the ride back from Legoland.
And maybe we will eat too since you all gave me good suggestions for food.

Not that I've ever seen, and according to the store locator someone posted upstream there are none in OR, WA or ID, other than something listed for the Western Washington student union in Bellingham, WA.

I LOVE the original sandwich..it's yummY!
and the nuggets are super good.. sometime i get them the night before i have a flight.

But it's a pain to have to go to the mall.. as i'm not a mall shopper. So i go just to Chik Filet then leave real quick.:rotfl:

Ok,
I am a teacher and one of my student's parents owns a Chick-fil-a. They bring it to me all the time , so I eat it all the time, it would be rude to say no, right?
Now I am going to have to think 3 times before I eat it! Ugh! I just love that Polynesian sauce too!

You can't swing a dead cat around here without hitting a Chick-Fil-A.

I love them. The best chicken sandwiches around. Their breakfast chicken/biscuit bites are amazing.

Ok, now I'm hungry.

There are quite a few of them around here...I don't actually love their food, but the service at the ones out here, at least, always seems to be pleasant, and that actually does make the food taste better. :) (The food is pretty good, but I haven't found anything to rave about there. I'll need to try the milkshakes sometime though.)

I don't know what day you're planning to visit, but just make sure you don't try to stop in on a Sunday, as they will be closed.

I looooove Chik-Fil-A. I moved from Tulsa Oklahoma a few months ago and miss it so so much. Their food isn't like other fast food places. It's not just grease; it's so yummy! I especially love just getting the chik-fil-a sandwich on the wheat bun, no pickles with provalone cheese. Delish!!
