Recreating Memories- Surprise Mother & daughter trip

Hey Kristen:
Just checking in to see what you have posted today!
I can imagine how much you will love having your fenced in yard! I have two DGD and when I go seem them in MS I have to drag both of them in the house if I forget to bring something out with us (their swing set and play area is in an 'L shaped" area of the yard protected from the street by their housebut outside their main fenced area because they used to have a large dog in their back yard). You talk about putting up a fuss getting them back in once we start playing - especially if I just need to run in an get a kleenex or a juice box or whatever! Fences provide such peace of mind, don't they!

Don't worry about the boys being left behind! They are young and misssing one trip will not hurt them! besides, it will be a great experience for them and their dad! And he is a trooper, too!:) My mom passed away a year ago but I have great memories of her taking all five of us kids to DL when we were growing up in Southern California while my dad was overseas (he wasn't much of a fun person).

Here's hoping you guys have a magical time. I know you will! Keep us updated!

:goodvibes Hi following you over from your other trip report.
The weather has just been :crazy2: with all this rain, but it is a great day to be on the disboards.

Hi Kristen

I am LOVING your PTR, so far!!! The pictures of you and your sister and mom are beautiful...and your dad and DH, too...but, you know what I mean!!! LOL! I am so excited for you...for everything...your fence, your girly weekend, and you Disney reservation vs. AAA ressie...I completely agree on that issue...just peace of mind! Well, hope you're enjoying yourself...as I type...talk to you when you get back!!!

Hi Brook!! :cutie: Thanks for joining me!!!! Isn't that the truth, when you join a PTR and it doesn't take days to catch up...I always seem to get into those myself, where I'm husing the kids so I can just read one more page!! Only kidding...maybe, sort of, kinda....heehee!!!

Mom was SO excited and kept saying "is this really happening?"....she was beside herself. She hasn't had Jodi & I to herself in 10 years since we've grown up, married, moved away, came back, moved away again, so she is thrilled! And we are, too!!;)

Thanks for reading along!!!!!!

That is so cute about your Mom! :goodvibes And I LOVE her very educated answers to your survey. Sounds like she is pouring through that book! Does she know about the DIS? I can totally see her getting into it.

And :woohoo: for free dining! I've never used a TA, I don't know how I would handle it...probably not very well. I like to be in control of it too!

I hope you are having a FAB girls weekend!!

Your mother for sure fits in w/ the DISers.:lmao: I'm also impressed. She seems up for most rides. Impressed she wants to do Big Thunder and Tower of Terror. My mom on the other hand is terrified of any roller coaster and most thrill rides. I'm not even sure if I'll get her on Space Mountain.

Another GIRLS TRIP.... yeah... they are so much fun!!!! Sounds like you are off to a great start. Smart choice to book the trip yourself... I can't let go of the control either... Free dining will be great... are you going to do a questionaire about that... love to see their responses....

Hi I'm half way through your previous trip report and have found the link to this PTR, just wanted to say i'm loving the last report, just got to the photospass photos, i'm subbing to this one too, can't wait to read more xx

Kristen!! OMG, HOW did I not know you had started a PTR??? :flower3: Glad I made it over before I missed to much more!!

First of all, I love absolutely everything about your trip. Love that you have such lovely memories of trips to WDW when you were a kid. Love that you and your sis want to treat your mom. Love how you surprised her. That was so creative! Oh and by the way, I had the same Epcot visor that your sister Jodi had on in the picture from the 80's! :rotfl: Love that you kept it a surpise Love your mom's reaction ("is this really happening?"). And love that Todd is taking time off and staying with the kiddos to let you do this! :goodvibes

All your plans look great so far. I think it's adorable how into this your mom is. She is definitely studying the book, judging by her answers!

Can't wait for more planning!! :yay: :goodvibes

OMG, LOVING the fenced in yard!:lovestruc What did I ever do without it? It's making my life so much easier, especially now that the weather is nice, and the boys are loving it too, they feel like they have freedom and that is huge, too!

Thanks for your thoughts on my trip alone without the boys, that's Mommy guilt for you! I'm sure I will LOVE every minute with my Mom & sis, but I think there will be times where a special song or show will remind me of the kids..sniff, sniff!! But these times are once in a lifetime and I will cherish every minute with my Mom!!:cloud9:

:goodvibes Hi following you over from your other trip report.

Hi!! Thanks for joining me and for reading my last TR, too!!:wizard: Any day is great for DIS, but rainy days make a better excuse....lol!!:rotfl: Hope you keep reading along!!

Hi!! Thanks for joining me Leighan!!:goodvibes And thanks for your nice compliments about my wedding pics, I know what you mean!! LOL!! I know, I have a lot going on these past couple of weeks, it's tough to keep up with myself and all this excitement!!! Hope you're well!!:goodvibes

Hi Brook!
My Mom totally has been doing her homework, good girl!! LOL!!:rotfl: She knows of "DIS" but I think she would officially think I was nuts if she knew how much time I spent on here and that I'm writing a PTR for our trip 5 mos. away!! LOL!!!

Glad to be home from my girl weekend....had quite a few traveling issues with Jet Blue, but made the best of my time with my friend, girl time is always good!!:cutie:

Your mother for sure fits in w/ the DISers.:lmao: I'm also impressed. She seems up for most rides. Impressed she wants to do Big Thunder and Tower of Terror. My mom on the other hand is terrified of any roller coaster and most thrill rides. I'm not even sure if I'll get her on Space Mountain.

Mom does seem like she's ready to take on a lot for our trip, I'm excited!! She's fun and likes to try everything once. I'm not sure I'll be on ToT with her....let's hope Jodi is game for that..that's one ride I'll never do again!! LOL!!:lmao: Oh no....I hope your Mom opens up before your trip and will do some rides....maybe watch them on you tube and maybe she won't think they are so bad? :confused3

Another GIRLS TRIP.... yeah... they are so much fun!!!! Sounds like you are off to a great start. Smart choice to book the trip yourself... I can't let go of the control either... Free dining will be great... are you going to do a questionaire about that... love to see their responses....

Glad I'm not the only control freak here! It was WAY too much for me...after awhile I wasn't sure the savings was enough for me to keep my TA!! LOL!!:laughing:I need to be in control!!!

A dining questionaire is a good idea...let me see what I can stir up!! ;)

I love the survey and how funny are your sis and mom with their answers. LOL

Cant wait to see the plan.

Hi Christine!! Thanks for coming by and for all of your nice compliments!! Glad you're enjoying things!! My Mom is just SO excited about things and all the plans, it's been fun! I'm hoping to get to a plan update tonight, so stay tuned!! Glad you're here and you found my new PTR!!!:cutie:

Hi Kristen! Loved the update, interviewing your mom and sis was such a great idea! :goodvibes Even though you are definitely the expert planner it is nice of you to look for their input too. And it is clear your mom has been studying up on Disney which is awesome! Their responses are much better than my siblings' were to similar questions...when I asked them last trip when they wanted to wake up to go to the parks the answer was always "whenever we happen to wake up" You girls are going to have an awesome time!!

Have a great weekend!

i love your moms answers, she really should come on over to the dis. my mom is so funny she lives upstairs and when she comes down she'll say are you on those disney boards again (exasperated sigh) ....10 seconds pass well while you are on there could you look up xyz. too funny. and i love that your mom wants to go on tower of terror and such. gotta love it...my mom thinks potc is a little too much for her.

Hi Everyone!

Just wanted to wish everyone a very HAPPY EASTER!!!!!

I'm hoping to get back on track with my PTR this week, with me being out of town last weekend & Todd out of town this weekend, it was a crazy week....so stay tuned!

Hope you're all well!!
Take care,
Kristen:cutie:

Hi everyone,

Thanks for being patient with me...this past week was a blur....I went to VA, Todd went to Philly and everything in between so I'm just getting a chance now to sit down and DIS.:cloud9: I hope you're all well!:goodvibes

I'm starting to think of some possible plans for our trip...any input is appreciated as I haven't done an all adult trip since my honeymoon back in 2000....and then it didn't seem like you needed to plan as much...or maybe that was just because it didn't matter if/when/what we were doing...we were young and in love.....ahhh.....:lovestruc LOL!!

So here goes....

Arrival day Monday, 9/14
Mom & my flight leaves Boston about 7 a.m. due to land in Orlando about 10:30 a.m., breeze through ME, head to POP. Jodi will be driving up from SC and it's about a 5 hour trip to Orlando for her, so she'll plan to meet us at POP about noontime. We'll grab lunch at "Everything POP", tour the resort, hopefully get our room and clean up, monorail ride, we're planning on heading to DTD this afternoon/night to get into the spirit of things, have a nice dinner and head to be early so we're ready for the next day. I was thinking about having dinner at "The Wave" in the Contemporary, my Mom & sis like sushi, it's newer, anyone hear anything about it? Suggestions? Ideas?

Tuesday, 9/15 Epcot day
lunch (Tanergine Cafe)
dinner (Le Celliar)

Wednesday, 9/16 MK day
Would love to make opening ceremonies this day, Mom & Jodi seem to care less either way, but I'm going to be there. I can't wait!!
lunch (Terrace Noodle)
dinner (Ohana)

Thursday, 9/17 Epcot
lunch (Sunshine Seasons)
dinner (Teppan Edo)

Friday, 9/18 Departure day
We'll have our bags held at POP and head over to DHS for the morning.
breakfast (CS) at resort
lunch at DHS (TS) Anyone? Thinking Brown Derby....:confused3
back to resort, pickup from Magical Express about 3ish for our 7pm flight. Has anyone left at this time? Do you think it's doable to do DHS that morning and spend most of the day there? We usually fly out earlier in the day, so wasn't sure if this would work or not? Thoughts? Ideas? :confused3

We're trying to eat at some new places that we haven't been to. I did eat at Le Celliar and can't wait to go again but everything else (other than "Everything POP" will be new for us). We can't make dining ressies until the end of June, but it's good to be prepared and I'm starting to think I should have back up ideas of places to go to because of the free dining. So if anyone has any other dining ideas for me, I'd love to hear them!!

I'm kind of bummed that we're only doing one day at MK, but it's Mom's trip and she really wants to spend most of her time at Epcot. Which will be a nice change of pace for me really since I never get to leisurely browse the shops or countries in World Showcase. And a lot of what is offered in the rest of the park is a bit ahead of the boys now, too, so it will be fun to explore. Does anyone think only one day in MK is not enough besides me? :sad2: Is that enough as adults? We don't have a hopper pass (didn't think it was worth the extra money this trip), so we have to just chose one park per day...and this seemed like the best option.

Okay...off to catch up around here some, hope to hear from you all soon!!:flower3:

i'm sure you'll get loads of suggestions really soon, i've not been to Florida for 20 years :-)scared1:) so can't give any advice apart from one day at MK is better then none!!! I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time xx

I hear you on being behind. I very much need to go tidy the kitchen.

I love your plans, they sound great.

Idea for TS at DHS. Have you eaten at 50s Prime Time yet? Its just a lot of fun and I think that ya'll would enjoy it since you are there as a FAM and "Mom" is there in the kitchen cooking ;)

What about popping into MK on your first day...?? Do you have park tickets for that day? :confused3 I always worry about not having enough time in MK and that might work out for you.

I adore Brown Derby and I think it would be perfect for a ladies lunch. I think your last day plans sound great, you should have plenty of time at DHS before you have to fly out. :thumbsup2
