Newbie question on booking excursions...

We will be taking our very first cruise in June. Very soon we will be able to start booking our excursions and I had a couple of questions. If I book these online and decide the day of that we don't want to do one of them, will we still be charged? This would be for nothing big. For example, if I book that we'd like to do a family bike ride on castaway cay and we decide while we are there that we are just too tired to take a bike ride, will we be charged anyway?

My other question is more of a confirmation of information..... we are charged for excursions at the end of the cruise, correct? Is there any way to pay for excursions before the cruise? I'd sort of like to have the larger excursions paid for before we leave. It's not neccessary, just a personal preference.

We just returned from our cruise and we had an excursion booked. You have 3 days before the cruise leaves to cancel your excursion. You will be charged based on what kind of account you have set up. (Either you will have your credit card on file, or pay in cash)

And as far as the bike ride, I think you could probably decide on that when you arrived there. For example, me & my DD didn't have an excursion booked at Castaway Cay, but when we arrived, we wanted to do the aqua bikes and the paddle boats. They have a booth set up if you want to do those things there, and you don't have to walk all the way back to the ship to book it. We did both, and didn't have to wait at all.

Thanks for your response. :) I think we will do like you said and just rent the bikes or floats when we are there rather than book every little thing. If something happens and we don't get a floatie it's not a real biggie.

As above, you have 3 days before sailing to cancel anything you booked on line. Otherwise you will be charged. The exception to that is that if DCL has to cancel an excursion due to weather or whatever, obviously you will not be charged.

For some things on CC, you can just walk up and book. There are things that sell out,but in general things like floats, snorkel equipment, and floats are readily available. We did have one cruise where we couldn't get a bike, but I think that's rare.

You can pay for excursions in advance by making a credit deposit on your onboard account. Actually, you don't want to pay in advance as they might be canceled.
