Need advice for Atlantis/Naussau day

We are on the 4 day cruise in June. The travelers are my husband and me(early 50's) and our 2 sons(mid 20's ) and their girlfriends. I know all the kids would just like a great beach day the day we are in Naussau. They might like to do a little gambling. Would we get the most beach time if we just rented a room at Atlantis and then could use the pool/beach and got there on our own? Is there an advantage to doing the official excursion? Does that just really help you with good safe transportation? I appreciate any suggestions. We have walked through Atlantis before and I like the pools etc. What time does the ship sail on the Naussau day?

My Husband and I did the excursion that allowed us to have full use of Atlantis Pools and water park and aquarium. We do not have kids and paid $150.00 each that included a lunch. We never made it the aquarium but did most of the water rides and laid by the pool. We basically paid for very expensive visit to a water park!!

We did this on our Dec 07 trip but did not repeat in Dec 08! Once you have done the Atlantis "thing" your done. We stayed on the ship this year and it was GREAT because the adult pool was nice and empty and it was a gorgeous day! Whatever you decide you will have a good time! Just make some good memories so you can say you saw Atlantis and then save your pennies for your next DC and just plan to stay on the boat! We got some awesome pictures from the boat this year of Atlantis and it cost us $00!:cool1:

If memory serves the ship did leave port until 7:30 pm we were in Palo'a having dinner when we left and our res was at 7pm.

I just went to Atlantis 3 weeks ago, and you could book a room but remember, they only allow 4 adults per room. THEY ARE VERY STRICT on getting wristbands for hotel guests as well. You show your room key and they are color coded per day. DCL does charge an extreme amount for this excursion!:scared1: $150! The hotel fee is $120 for day use of the pools. Transportation to the Hotel by water taxi was only $6 per person, and its right next to the ships.
IMO, Go explore, take a $25 Carriage ride, do the straw market, Eat at senior frogs, and get back on the ship! An empty ship is a wonderful ship. You dont have much time anyhow. 4 days comes and goes very quickly. ;)

Don't forget about the Comfort Inn & Suites deal - it is across from Atlantis and you can get a room for around $250 (including taxes and fees) with the LPGA rate. That will give you armbands for 4 adults...

I may do the deal at Comfort Inn. Question: Check in is 3: PM and checkout is 11AM. If we get there early in the morning can we go on and have the armbands to get to Atlantis' pools? Just wondering how that works.

Take a taxi over to Comfort Inn as soon as you get off the boat. Go check in and check out immediately. Take your receipt over to a towel hut and they give you armbands there. Have fun. (all in that order)

See my trip report (in my sig) and I tell a little about it. I would definately do that again and that way.

My question though is when we go the price is the same for Atlantis as it is at the Comfort Suites. Does Atlantis let you check in and use their facilities that early too??

You can do a beach day at Castaway Cay. We stayed on the boat in Nassau and it was awesome. No one was at the pool and it was quite relaxing. We've been to Atlantis before and found it to be very overrated! The pool and slides are nice but not for what they charge. You can stay at the Comfort Inn for less but IMHO, that's not worth the cost either!

I was at Atlantis on January 10th. It was a $110.00 for a full pass if you bought it at Atlantis. Go in the main entrance, then go down the stairs and on the left is the desk that sells all of the day passes. We paid $5.00 a person for a private taxi to go to Atlantis. There were four of us. I talked to some of the people at our dinner table who did the excursion and they were not happy when they found out it was the same thing if you went on your own. It was $180.00 but that did include lunch at the one of the counter service restaurant's.:goodvibes

Is that the only option for Atlantis. We just booked last minute. We are on the Wonder 5/21 with family of 6. The $110 x 6 might not work for us. And from what i read i would need 2 rooms at the comfort in.

See there is 4 of us so the day pass would be $440, a room at Atlantis is $260, after tax it is around $320. So I think we are just going to do that. My only fear is if we need to cancel you have to do so within 15 days. Comfort suites is $250 and I think their cxl is a little more flexible.

I think you can get a room for up to 5 and then buy the 1 extra day pass at Atlantis.

I will have to sing Comfort Suites praises for cancellation policies. We were on the September 5 cruise and were surrounded by 3 hurricanes. When we checked in, we were told the day we were going to Nassau had changed. We called Comfort Suites and asked if we could move our reservation and keep our rate ($140). They did.

Then less than 48 hours before, we realized there was no way we were going to make it to Nassau on the new day. I called and cancelled and they didn't charge us anything.

Literally 30 minutes later we sat down for dinner at Animators Palate and the Captain announced we were going to Nassau on our original day, the next morning!

I got up, went back to our room and called Comfort Suites. I asked if it was possible to get our original reservation back for the next night.

She did it! No problem, no rate increase. I was beyond impressed with their customer service.:)
