Adjoining room noise

We are taking the Magic in October. We have the option of floor 7 with an adjoining room or floor 5 with no adjoining room door. We don't need the adjoining room; it is just there. I have concerns that the adjoining door could end up being a noise problem if the gueast beside us are noisy. What do you think?

I am really interested to read other responses on this. we are booked for October and we have an adjoining room. When I read the trip reports, the only report was about the neighbors being loud. Do not really count that as a fault of the room. I was still nervous about whether to book the cabin or not. Imagine my surprise, when I looked at the deck plans, our first cruise was an adjoining room. I had no idea! I know there was someone next door to us, it was a full ship. Never heard a sound from a neighbor. I really think it depends on who is next to you.

Actually, if you have a door it is a connecting stateroom. When posting about adjoining staterooms they are just next to each other. We had a connecting door once and heard less noise from them than the adjoining stateroom whose headboard was on the opposite side of the wall with ours. Someone in that room snored so loudly that they woke me up two nights. I banged on the wall and that did not wake them to stop them. I was ready to call their number to see if that would wake them up when FINALLY they stopped!

We did a 7 day cruise in a connecting cabin. The only problem we had was that, one day, the family had gone out and their alarm clock went off. Because no one was there to shut it off, it just kept going and going. We finally called guest services to have someone come down and shut it off. We could also hear them talking once or twice.. it was a couple with one child, from what we could tell.

I would guess it would just completely depend on the people in the room next to you and how loud they are.

You don't really lose any area but you do lose the small bench that is there in the other staterooms. We stash shoes under that and sit down on it to put them on when needed.

Adjoining = next door with no door connecting
Connecting = has a door

I know this is answered above, but since i did not realize I was in a connecting room, I did not know what I was missing.

We had a connecting room on one of our Feb. cruises--same situation as original poster, we didn't need it we were assigned it. We had no problem with noise from the room next door. In fact, if I hadn't seen people coming and going, I wouldn't have known they were there. We actually has more "neighbor noise" on the second leg of the trip which was not in a connecting room--on that one the guy next door snored....and snored....and the extended family across the hall had at least 4 cabins. The kids ran up and down the halls and pounded on each other's doors. Teen DD and I even discussed that--I said that the first time I heard it during the "quiet hours" listed on the navigator, I'd be on the phone with Guest Services as they were quite rude. The parents couldn't possibly have been unaware.

Three of my cruises have been with connecting rooms. Twice we had noisy neighbors -- people who stayed up late every night, talking very loud. The other time, we never heard a thing. Really, it is the luck of the draw whether you get noisy people next to you or not. I'd prefer not to have a connecting room for this reason, but sometimes that is the only thing available so we'd just live with it. You just have to decide not to let it ruin your cruise.
