look exactly the same as the Wonder and Magic.

I just watched the Travel DCL tv show and at the end they had the image of the two new ships and it looked like a larger version of the Magic and Wonder.

Is this true? I was hoping for a completely different ship honestly.

I believe the show said that the ships would be 50% larger.
I guess that would mean more decks and longer length.
I also seem to remember that the basic style would be the same.
30's luxury liner.

I think the look helps to make it a "signature" for Disney. I'm more curious about the interiors. Will they make these two continue on the design theme of the Magic and Wonder, will they pick two new and independent designs, will they pick one theme and carry it between the two. Lots of options, lots of waiting to see.

I hope it looks like the first two. IMHO everytime we are docked next to other cruise ships we always agree that the Disney ships are the best looking!!

We were told that the design would be very similar...but bigger in every dimension--longer, wider, higher....more cabins, more crew and crew quarters...this from Captain Henry in February.

Here is the rendering...

DCL definitely wants to stay with the same exterior "look" for the new ships as the Magic and Wonder...it is their signature look. They want to have the look of the classic oceanliners of the past.

Quite honestly, most cruiselines stay with the same basic look for their ships.

I hope DCL does not change the exterior styling....I LOVE IT. Very classy looking, not boxy like other ships.

MJ, I agree...and while we're at it - I hope they don't change the interior "design" (not decorating) too much. I hate those big soulless "atrium" ships. If I wanted to be in a big atrium surrounded by shops and food courts, I'd go to the mall! ;)

I wouldn't be surprised if DCL did have more shops onboard the new ships and a bigger atrium. It would not bother me as long as it still looked classy like the M & W. I hope they have traditional ship's library as well with nice paneled walls and brass fittings.

Rock on MJ! It so true I cannot tell you the pride of walking back to the ship in port! So Classy! I swear each time we have been on the Wonder in PC other ships passengers stand on the top deck and look as the Disney ship! I often think they are a little bummed they are not on our ship? :rotfl:

... the art nouveau/art deco interior design theming which my hubby and I both love.

Btw, they officially announced the names:

Disney Dream (2011)

Disney Fantasy (2012)

Personally I had hoped for Disney Dream and Disney Wishes, but I guess Fantasy will have to do...:rotfl:

ITA!

I wonder what the new "SPH" and "Secret Verandah Rooms" will be on the new ships. We need to get that info. ASAP :rotfl:

Me too! Hopefully some TAs can get the inside scoop to pass on.
I hope there's some aft SPH staterooms. I'd be all over it!:goodvibes

From that rendering, it looks like there are atriums near the front of each the new ships (look at the top deck...see the arc of glass?) Very pretty! Should be light and bright inside those areas.

I, too, LOVE the exterior lines of the Magic and Wonder. So much prettier/sleeker than the other ships I've seen docked alongside.

I've been wondering what movies they will be themed after.

That's part of the bridge! It gives the captain plenty of visibility while docking. The floor is glass too so he can see straight down. :thumbsup2

Sorry to burst your bubble....

I dont think the poster is referring to the bridge in the front. They are referring to the glass ceiling on what looks like the pool deck. I am guessing this could be for an enclosed solarium area? Its hard to say but that is definitely not the bridge.
