Cheapest cruises?

It looks like November 09 cruises has someer cheap rates (looking at 7 day Est or West Caribbean). I see some then at $2200 + for 2 adults and toddler. Is this usually the cheapest time to cruise? Is that hurricane season? All 2010 rates seem high to me thus far. ome route with same 2 and baby is $3300 and up. What is the best rule of thumb to get the best rate if flexible with dates?

September and early October can be cheaper, as can January. However, this year there have been many less expensive cruises. Several have started at $599 per person for a 7 day cruise. I have 2 cabins for 3 persons each reserved for May--total cost was about $1900 for each cabin (3 adults).

We've cruised at least 7 times during hurricane season--it really isn't a big deal if you can be flexible. If you're the kind of person who has to have every minute planned, choose another time. If it wouldn't bother you to have the ship go somewhere other than where it was scheduled to go, then consider this an adventure cruise and have fun. In our cruises, we've had 2 that used alternative ports and one that became a 4 day cruise instead of 7 day when PC had to be closed. THat was a bummer, but....oh well. We had the best safety drill ever with literally hundreds of dolphins.

Hurricane season goes thru the end of November, but November storms are very rare. September 10 is the height of hurricane season.

we are going on the April 18th Western on the Magic...7 nights...and we paid $1500 for 2 adults...not sure if this helps!

It depends on your category of course. As a point of reference, my husband and I have a category 5 booked for September 2009. For just the two of us it will be $2500 without transfers or insurance. I hope this helps!

I am amazed at how cheap all of your cruises are!!! We are booked for a 7 day eastern in November in a cat. 10 and it is going to cost $3300 (without insurance and transfers) for the 4 of us. How did you all find such cheap cruises? Are you FL residents? I love a bargain and our cruise is the cheapest for November 2009 according to the Disney website.

imho, we're seeing the cheapest prices in years. Have you ever seen them discount so much for last minute cruises, esp in SPRING? Maybe many people cancelled when final payments are due and this is why there's so much availability? Also this maybe why they're not discounting Nov cruises just yet as those final payments aren't due until Aug and many people are feeling like, 'lets wait and see' what the economy is like then.
Gosh, our Thanksgiving 08 cruise went up over $2000 from the time we booked until I couldn't access prices online anymore.

We are booked for the Halloween sailing on the Magic and our cat 9 is still at the same price as when we booked back in May. ($3600 for 4 online but we rebooked onboard and got it now for $3300)
I've never seen that happen; prices usually keep going up. This will be interesting to see. If they're having trouble filling 2 ships, how will they fill 4?
They should have built the new ships 5 yrs ago.

Back to the OP: if you can be flexible, hurricane season is a great time to sail. They steer around any storms or your cruise may be shortened or lengthened if they can't get back to PC but usually your risk is much lower in later Oct and Nov. and it's still a cheaper time to sail.

The way we found such cheap cruises is to keep checking the prices and booking cat 12 gty staterooms. No, the prices mentioned above are not FL resident rates--they are the discounted cat 12 rates that any bargain hunter could have booked. However, in exchange for these rates, we have agreed to be in any cabin on the ship that DCL chooses for us.

They weren't last minute bookings either--our May cruise was booked before Christmas. There are currently a few of these rates available for fall, 2009....but only certain sailing dates.

Also this depends on your needs/situation. If your job is very flexible with getting time off or you don't have kids in school, you can be wide open. Also people who don't have to fly can be flexible. Sometimes a last minute cruise deal means scrambling for airfare that can negate the cruise savings.

In my case, our kids have 3 days off that week so it's the only 7 nt we can do. Dh really likes a window so we're stuck with cat 9 min. I'd love to try a cat 12 and go with the flow.

Does anyone know.... if the cruise has to be cancelled because of a hurricane will they refund you. We were thinking about going on the Sept 10 2009 cruise because its very discounted. Now I am nervous...I dont have a flexible job.
