We have mostly been lurkers on the site since we first discovered it a few months ago when planning our trip. We (some of us – others like joke with those that do) love reading the PTR and TR’s that we decided to try and write one of our own! We will be all driving down in one car leaving from the Jersey Shore and staying at the All Start Music Resort from March 21-28.

Let’s first start with who will be going with us for our Adventure!

JenTR.jpg

GingerTwist – This birthday girl turns 27 on March 26th during our trip! She had 93 vacation days left and decided to blow some of them by having her big birthday bash at Disney. GingerTwist was just a small tyke during her first trip, when she fell in love with the place. She tried to convince her parents at a young age that she could pass for a “life-size” doll in It’s a Small World, and jumped out of their moving boat! GingerTwist was unphased by this and is back in business and ready for more. Her favorite movie is Mary Poppins and she plans on challenging Mary to a backwards Supercallifragilisticexpialidocious battle. A seasoned WDW veteran, this time around GingerTwist is looking forward to searching Tom Sawyer’s island for the "paintbrushes" and hitting up the World Showcase, enjoying the brews and getting kicked out of each country one by one!

DanTR.jpg

Magic Carpet – 24 yrs old. He has been to Disney twice before (ages 15 and 18.) He is not a big Disney fan but allowed GingerTwist to convince him to go for her birthday celebration! His favorite Disney movie is Aladdin. He will be playing chauffeur for the journey, his car being our "magic carpet" during the 1000 miles down I-95. (His girlfriend GingerTwist is hoping he it cleans up for once before we leave!) While outside of a car, MC enjoys zipping down Space Mountain, swerving on the Astro Blasters, and cruising along the WDW Monorail. Give him a few beers and he might profess his love for The Little Mermaid to you! (He will not admit it but he secretly can’t wait to get his picture taken with Ariel at her Grotto!) He will most likely be found resting comfortable in the hotel room until GingerTwist convinces him that he needs some food (and more convincingly – alcohol!)

AshleyTR.jpg

WDWMrsPottsWDW – 25yrs old (she will be 26 on Easter this year so a pre-birthday celebration for her.) She decided to hang up her pieces of flair for a few days and go somewhere magical instead! It is her 2nd trip to Disney, her first time was in 2007 with Nutmegg. Her favorite Disney movie is Finding Nemo which I do believe is a little fishy, and her favorite ride is either BTMRR, Haunted Mansion, or Test Track. She is a little hesitant to go on the scary rides but I've seen her jump off ski lifts like a dozen times... It doesn't make any sense! But she did allowed Nutmegg to talk her into riding Tower of Terror and Mt. Everest last trip. (Nutmegg promised ToT would only drop a max of 2 maybe 3 times – 6 drops later she wasn’t a happy camper!) She is willing to attempt these rides again and Nutmegg is hoping to convince her give Rock N Roller Coaster a chance (she has never been on an upside down ride!)

MeganTR.jpg

Nutmegg - 27 yrs old. A true Disney fanatic, she has been coming to WDW since the age of 3. Nutmegg has amazing talents when it comes to packing for a vacation. She never fails to incorporate 12-14 pairs of plaid shorts into her vacation wardrobe, and can be easily spotted by her group because of her trendy hot pants. Nutmegg fills the time between visits by watching Disney movies non-stop with her girlfriend WDWMrsPottsWDW. Her favorite Disney movies are the Lion King and Finding Nemo, and her favorite characters are Rafiki and Dory. Nutmegg loves the thrill rides, but her ultimate favorite is racking up points in Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin. Nutmegg certainly has a magical touch and can convince anyone to ride anything, even the scary ones. She might even talk WDWMrsPottsWDW into riding the Rock n Roller Coaster! We'll see...

Our plans (for now at least) are to have Magic Carpet (who is from Philadelphia) drive to GingerTwist’s house at the Jersey Shore on Thursday night. He hopefully we be able to spend majority of Friday day sleeping, so he will be awake and ready to pick up Nutmegg at her house Friday night, and head down to South Jersey to pick up WDWMrsPottsWDW from work. She is a waitress, and we can’t leave until she finishes work that night, so we are aiming for a midnight departure. With everyone alternative driving shifts, we expect the drive to take us about 18 hours, and hopefully will get into Disney around 8pm on the 21st. After that we have no set plans, until we leave the following Saturday.

More to follow…

I just wanted to throw in my two cents...so here it goes...

There are a few things that some or all of us would like to try out when we are down there, although nothing is set in stone, as we are generally bad planners, and drinking and recovering from hangovers often tends to inhibit what was originally scheduled (well, at least that’s the case for me). Below is a list of what we would like to accomplish while in WDW:

Beers Around the World in Epcot.
This is going to be the highlight of the trip, hands down. Initially we wanted to make t-shirts for this, although it may not be a great idea since it will draw attention to us - we will look like four crazies who are dressed alike and sloppily stumbling around the world. It will most likely increase our chances of getting kicked out of Epcot by (and I’m just estimating figures here) 95%. Also, none of us have a color printer to make the shirt iron on’s with. I’m not sure how that happened, since I think the majority of people who have any kind of printer these days have a color printer. Even so, we might still make the t-shirts…

Attend the Polynesian Luau (Spirit of Aloha).
Well, we haven’t booked our seats for this show yet, but I think we were hoping to use our $200 gift cards to pay for the show. Chances are, from what we’ve read, it’s probably all booked up already. In that case, we will try for the Hoop-De-Doo Musical Review (which was my first choice anyway). If that is booked up, we might consider Mickey’s BackYard BBQ, however, we’re not sure what kind of alcoholic beverages, if any, are included in that, so we might just forget about it. As a side note, I’m also a little skeptical of the BYBBQ, since it’s cheaper…maybe my skepticism is unwarranted…I don’t really know.

Do a Monorail Bar Crawl.
I think Nutmegg saw that someone did this in one of the trip reports that she read. None of us have really had the opportunity to check out the resorts, and just sitting in the lobbies and people watching sounds boring (although I know some people do that and seem to enjoy it), so it only seems natural to tour the resorts in a way we’re comfortable with – in the form of a bar crawl. I’m hoping to conclude the “tour” at the boat landing at Fort Wilderness so that we can watch the Ode to Joy light show on the lake (I don’t know what it’s really called but they’ve been playing Ode to Joy during it since as long ago as I can remember). Hopefully that works out for us. We’ve posted in a few places that anyone who will be in the area at the same time as us is more than welcome to come along with us, so, if you’re interested let us know! I think so far we have one, maybe two people from the DISBoards coming along with us if they’re still interested …

Find a paintbrush on Tom Sawyer’s Island.
Well, while this doesn’t include drinking, I am really excited about this. I honestly don’t know if anyone else I’m going with is interested in it at all. My first trip to Disney was probably before I turned one with my parents, and I’ve been going down regularly ever since. I never heard about the paintbrushes on Tom Sawyer’s Island until I started reading the forums. I’m very serious when I tell you that I’m not leaving Disney until I find one. I love scavenger hunts, and I love winning. Watch out kiddies, here I come!

Other than that, I think everything is going to be fairly disorganized. We have park hoppers with water park fun and more options, so we will be going to all of the parks of course, as well as Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, and Disney Quest. Since there’s no more Pleasure Island, we also get some rounds of Golf with our WPFNM passes, but my guess is that we will skip that. Unless, of course, you can drink on the green…

We are thinking of purchasing the PhotoPass CD online before leaving. I am not sure if it will be worth it for the 4 of us to split the cost as I don't know how many pictures we will end up taking. Does anyone have any suggestions on whether or not we should? Is there anything we should be aware of prior to ordering (restrictions?)

Hi there! Im enjoying reading your PTR..

I do have to ask which one of the characters above are you? just curious..

I think the idea of the tshirts is a cute and fun idea.. I say go for it.. do what makes you guys happy because you most likely wont see these people again.. at least thats the philosophy I have :rotfl:

It sounds like your group is going to have a baaaaalast!

I am thinking of me and DH going to the Spirit of Aloha also when we visit next.. One of my friends went to WDW last year and her family went to that show and said it was great..

If it were me I would do the photopass... Ive never paid for it on my own, but instead have joined in on the groups you see on the budget boards here and it makes it way more affordable.. but its a must do for us because we get so many pictures of us that we normally wouldnt get because we hate asking others to take our picture, so we normally just dont get them.. there are so many places you can go to utilize the photo pass and get some cool pictures..

I just wanted to add in a few pictures so you can get a better idea of who we are:

Thanks Bettyann for reading! Sorry we didn't make it clearer in our first posts but we used our DisBoard names to introduce the cast. Mainly myself (Nutmegg) and GingerTwist (she submitted the 2nd post) will be writing our review. The other 2 may chime in along the way (Magic Carpet and WDWMrsPottsWDW.)

We are hoping to be able to make the t-shirts. We need to first find a color printer (which hopefully won't be hard) and then come up with a good quote or catchphrase to put on them - Suggestions are Welcome!

We are definitely going to try to do the Aloha Show - MrsPotts and I have never been to Hawaii and have always wanted to. We figured this would be the closest we can get for a long time!

We are still considering the PhotoPass. Even if we split it between the 4 of us, it won't be too bad. On our vacations we usually come home with solo pictures of each of us, or pictures that cut off half our heads or faces because we try to take them ourselves.

This is a map I made of our proposed bar crawl route. Assuming transportation will take about 15 minutes to each resort...we will have a half hour at each place to drink a beer or two...of course times may change once we start drinking... :)

I just thought I would throw it up here....

:worship: :lmao: :rotfl:

I read your last line and thought it said " I just though I would throw up here" :rotfl2: :rotfl:

I dont know if you listen to podcasts or not.. but there is one out there called Walts Girls and I was thinking in past they did something similiar to this at the resorts.. maybe Im just thinking they did.. they dont do the podcasts anymore but if this is something you do listen to you might check out itunes and look for it and download it..

Thats ok.. I was just a little confused, which doesnt take much these days ;)

The photopass would be more manageable with 4 of you splitting the cost.. I think its a good idea.. that way you can get many pictures.. you can get some individuals, maybe just 2 of you, then mix it up then get all 4 of you.. Its really a good way to get some pictures of the group.. they have some real neat poses too.. you can get a picture in front of the castle holding Tinkerbell and then there are ones similiar in each of the parks.. We got one of me and DH sitting behind the big "golf ball" and Stitch was sitting there eating an ice cream or something like that.. there are some really cool ones where they come back in afterwards and impose characters.. you just have to ask about them..

I read your last line and thought it said " I just though I would throw up here" :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Hahaha....Oh man that had me laughing too...I guess I should have chosen my words better! :rotfl2:

I haven't listened to the podcasts, but I will try to look for and download some. Thanks for the tip! Do you know if they are listed somewhere on the DIS site?

when you first log into dis.. on the first page towards the bottom there is a link that says listen now.. you can click that to listen to the current show I believe and there is another link to add to itunes.. if you add to itunes you can automatically get each show and when you sync your ipod it will download there for you.. the walts girls one is not affiliated with this site so you have to go to itunes to get that one..

Popped in to check out your PTR since you commented on mine.

I'm looking forward to following your trip as it will be so different from mine with screaming kids melting down and a Dh who never listens.

I think you should get the photo pass. Split between four it's not much. Plus you can hit up the photographers for all those special shots, with stitch and captain hook and the like. Of course the classic tink castle pic as well. You could even go into the photo places beside the BBB and have group shots taken there.

I did the personalized t-shirts the last two trips and I think I'm done. You just don't wear them outside of WDW and since my last trip was so rainy I didn't even get good shots of them wearing them in WDW. That's just my opinion though. If I had more time on my hands I might make them again but I have been warned by my 10 year old DS that he is finished wearing those "babyish cartoon shirts". :sad2: I'm so not looking forward to these preteen years.

Oh I read your Trip Reports too! They are great! Ours probably won't compare - you write them up very well and you are really good at leaving cliffhanger's at the appropriate times :)

Thanks for stopping by to read our PTR! I have to tell you that your TR was one of the first I ever read, and my one of my most favorite! I check for updates just about everyday, and can't wait to read more!

We have been talking about it and I think we have decided to pre-order the PhotoPass CD. I read somewhere that if we don’t get enough pictures taken, or don't like them, we still have 2 weeks from when we return to cancel the order. I am also looking forward to trying to get some of the "special" shots with Tink or Stitch.

I understand what you mean about the shirts! I remember most of your pictures your family was almost always wearing ponchos. I remember going through the same phases as your 10yr old DS - he will eventually grow out of the phases and look back and realize what an awesome mom he has and appreciate all the special touches you were able to provide him with during these trips!

Now I'm blushing

I hope so. It took me having kids to realize how much my parents did for me.

Have you made out your list of drinks yet? I know I've got the grey goose slushie at Epcot and the Lapu Lapu at the Poly on mine. I will admit that I am a "girlie" drinker and prefer the sweet stuff.

Have great fun!

Sorry, I'm going to miss it. :upsidedow

I joined a Photopass share as well and hoping it does well.

However, driving to WDW? I did that once. Once. Never. Again.

I live further north than you (right outside NYC), so maybe you will work out better. It took us 23 hours. Tip: Do not drive through DC on 95, take the way around (495? 295? onc of those..). This will save you time and your hair will stay on your had instead of being clenched in your hands.

I'm off to pack! :lmao:

Thank you

Yes, we have! We are planning on trying to Drink Around the World for Ginger Twist's birthday on the 26th. I also prefer the sweeter drinks and cannot wait to try the Grey Goose Slushy in France and the Lapu Lapu. I have also heard some good (and bad) things about the Margarita's in Mexico - have you ever had one?

In the same kiosk as Grey Goose slushie, there is a Grand Marnier slushi. I chose the Grand Marnier, sinc it was orange; the Grey Goose is lemon. Yummie.

Note to others: please do not take pictures with Princesses when drinking a Grand Marnier Orange Slushie.

We've decided on Monday, March 23 as the day to go since the first few people that posted to come along will be leaving on the 24th. However, we are also doing an Epcot Bar Crawl later in the week - probably on Thursday, if you want to come along with us for that one. Let me know if you're interested - we don't have the details totally mapped out for the Epcot bar crawl - we're just going to wing that one.

Ok, so, we are going to start out at the Tambu Lounge in Poly at 6PM on March 23, so everyone who wants to join us can meet up there. We are going to bring some silly hats to wear so we will stand out in the Tambu Lounge crowd (if there is one).

Here is what Wikipedia has to say about the Tambu Lounge (I'm not sure why I'm including this, I just like to use wikipedia as much as possible really):

"Tambu Lounge - Tambu Lounge is a bar with an attached lounge area, adjacent to 'Ohana on the second floor of the Great Ceremonial House, operating in the evening hours. In addition to a full menu of beverage offerings and appetizers, several resort specialties are available from Tambu Lounge, including the Lapu Lapu, an alcoholic mixed beverage served in a hollowed-out pineapple. Tambu Lounge offers live, Hawaiian style lounge music several nights a week."

So, I hope to see at least some of you at the Poly Monday night! Please let me know if anyone has questions or suggestions or anything else.

Can't believe I just found your thread! I am mostly a lurker on the boards until recently!

We went last year to celebrate my 40th (god that sounds so old!) birthday. We made 25 of my closest friends come along. There were t-shirts and goody bags and so much fun. Best night ever!

Now here is what is so funny- my girlfriend and I will be there from March 22nd to the 29th! We would love to buy you a drink on your journey around the world! I don't know if we will make it to the monorail drinking -- although that sounds like so much fun! Being so old, we would probably just slow you down! But we will be at Epcot on the 26th if that is still your day there!

Here are some photos!
