We Need Some Input On Concierge Level At Akv, We Need To Know If It Is Worth The Extra Dvc Points To Stay On That Level.

Any Info Would Be Appreciated.

We thought it was well worth it to have access to the sunrise safari and also for the discount on the Wanyama safari, not to mention the nice food offerings.

Just be aware that, like us, you may not get the savanna view.

We loved it and thought it was worth the points. Plan on doing it again but not when we're making a lot of dining reservations. It was a great was to have a nice breakfast before heading out each day.

I have a two bedroom concierge room reserved for next January and noted a preference for a savannah view. How do they allocate these rooms? How do they decide who will get the savannah view room and who gets the pool?

:goodvibes here is an intersting link to a trip review from a fellow disER..bc of this awesome review i decided that the extra points were worth it and book a trip for this upcoming july. take a look and good luck with your decision!!!

For me it was well worth it both for the sunrise safari and for all of the snacks/meals. That being said:

1) If you want a savanna view, then don't book CL. You are not guaranteed a savanna view. I had a savanna view and it wasn't that good (room 6006, I think) from my room.

2) If you want a hot breakfast, then don't book CL. The breakfast is an excellent continental breakfast, which I prefer. But if you want eggs, pancakes, etc, then you won't be happy.

I loved the sunrise safari! To me it was well worth the cost and the breakfast was very good. I won't be staying CL again until at least 2010, but I will definitely try to book it again.

I did read the link--looks awsome:thumbsup2
We stayed SV March 08, and I fell in love with the resort---sadly no money in the budget to add on points at the moment:sad1:
I own at BWV, and am hoping to book 3 night CL along with 3 night BW at BWV for our 20th anniversary in May 2011.
Yes, I am a planner.
The only way I will get CL is probably to rent points from an owner there who could book right at the 11 month window, or have AKV points transfered so I could do it myself.
Any thoughts??? Anyone out there have such points that they may think of doing this for us in the future:rolleyes1

We stayed Concierge Level last August and thoroughly enjoyed it. The Sunrise Safari was excellent and the breakfast that we had afterward was fabulous. My one complaint (our stay was for 10 days) was that there was quite a bit of repetition in the concierge food offerings (although I was completely addicted to their cappuccino machine)- I guess i shouldn't call it a complaint, but 10 days at this level got a little old.

But I think that if you have the points you should try concierge level at least once! I would definitely recommend the Sunrise Safari.

I stay there whenever I can. I love the breakfast every morning and that I can just walk out my door and there is food for most of the day.

But don't ever do Concierge and the dining plan, it is way too much food!

In rereading my post it made it look like I was a bit negative, but in reality, CL is what we prefer to stay at at Jambo house. In fact, we are booked for 3 days in CL at the start of our December trip. I can see us mostly using our points at AKV for that.

Am I unusual in that I actually WANT pool view when we stay CL this July?:)

I'll make sure I let the concierge know through e mail ..I'd be happy with either view but i'll request pool so that it will free up more SV for other guests.

Actually although i don't mind about view I DO mind if i get the room that doesn't have a bath tub!...:scared1:

Another reason for me to request pool view..they all have tubs!:)

Three of the two bedrooms are savana view, two are pool. One of the savanna views is handicap accessible so those who have such a need and request it will get savanna view as a result. As to how the others are doled out -- who knows? I have seen varying reports on these boards and they apply to any of the not guaranteed views at the DVC resorts -- in order of reserving, in order of arrival, in order of arrival depending on which room is open at that time (you are at the mercy of possibly arriving when four of the rooms are filled by persons who arrived days before and are not leaving the day you arrive), random allocation, possibly bribery will work. I am personally proof that order of reserving is NOT the way it works because I have twice requested particularly views (with savanna view point cost rooms) when reserving exactly 11 months out (meaning I had to be one of the first in line) and got the requested view neither time, but when I made another reservation eight months out, I got the view requested.

We own at BWV and are staying AKV CL studio this May. Amazingly, we WL'd for a Fri/Sat night only about 4.5 months out and it came through within a few weeks. We already had a BW view booked and the CL room was only 2 points per night more. We booked so that we could do the Sunrise Safari on Sunday morning before moving to the BWVs. So, it is possible to book even when you are not an owenr, as long as you can live with only a Fri/Sat night. Best of luck -- Suzanne

We did CL at Christmas and it was worth every point we spent doing it. I would do it every single time if I could!:cool1:

Do you have to contact concierge or will they contact you?
This is the first time we will be stayng concierge .

How soon before our trip should I be in contact with them?

I ended up emailing them instead of waiting to be contacted. I think that I sent the emails at about the 7 month mark so that I could get on the list for the sunrise safari at 180 days.

I looked back through my emails and see that I had correspondance with Concierge services in Feb. for my August trip. So definitely no later than 6 months prior - inorder to get the Sunrise Safari.

I have the email address if you want to send me a PM.

The Sunrise Safari is now booked at 90 days out. The IPO office called me in response to my e-mail in early Feb for our May trip and booked the Safari for us as soon as reservations opened. You may not hear much in response to your e-mail until May unless you have requested other dining reservations that still book at 180 days (Chef Mickey and Princess meals??). Enjoy your stay. -- Suzanne

i always do the DDP when at the world but this will be our first time doing CL and I am so confused about what to do...NO plan...quick service...or regular like we have always done.

I probably cant go without a plan since my daughter always wants a snack when in a party...or maybe i could just pay for those items.

so confused:confused3
