Concerning Online Check In and Room Charging Privileges

I was wondering if those who went through the online check in process could tell me whether you were able to designate who in your party could use their key to the world card for room-charging privileges.

Thanks!

I know when we went with my children and my in-laws and stayed in a 2BR, my daughter's card was not valid for charging but all 4 of the adult cards were. Everything was linked to the single card for charging. I wasn't really thrilled about that since we like to charge everything and didn't want to worry about who charged what. I think I could have asked for their cards to be noncharging but I didn't really want to start trouble!

I did the on line check in yesterday, and aside from asking for a credit card, there was no attempt to verify who could have charging privileges. Not a big issue since its just my wife and me, but I can see where this would be a concern.

Nope. Was never given that option.

This is disappointing to me. My 22 year-old son is special and prone to misplacing things. Also, we're going with friends in May and I don't want them to have room- charging privliges.

Perhaps I can make this a request.

We never leave a credit card. Does it give you the option not to do this or do you have to when doing the online check in?

And what about if you have a two bedroom? I guess you can't leave two credit cards, uh?

You can only leave one credit card on the room, leaving you to sort out who charged who and collecting afterwards separately. Much better to leave off those who cannot charge on your credit card and let them pay as they go.

As far as online check in, well it is supposed to be a time saving feature. So that is probably why only all or none will have charging privileges.

Can't see why you couldn't ask the front desk to issue a non charging key for some on the reservation when you arrive. Of course that may negate any advantage to the online check in.

Right. If I have to do that, I may as well check in at the resort.

Common sense requests like this are enhancements scheduled for Online-Check-In 2.0, which will be available sometime in 2013. :rotfl2:

If anybody from DVC or the Disney IT department is listening - how do you gather your requirements? A few minutes with a some members after a Welcome Home Wednesday would have pointed out common sense issues like this which should have been part of the initial feature.
