We don't wanna go home!!! Nov 1-8, 2008 Magic Western

HAHA I love DH's other "women" and dinner looks yummo!

Nikki are you doing a Disneymoon trippy? Would love to hear all about your adventures!

Awe! great DISmeet! Nikki will be a beautiful bride!

Loved your Valentine's report - thanks for sharing! Thanks for the wine recommendations!:thumbsup2 A cab I love that is smooth like chocolate is Sterling (either founder's or estate - I can't remember) You might try that one some time and see how it compares.

Oh yes I am!!! We are on a 6:30am flight out the morning after our wedding! Heading to the Poly from Sunday through Saturday morning and from there, the DCL western cruise!! I am so excited and I will definitely tell all about it when I get back!

Awe! great DISmeet! Nikki will be a beautiful bride!

 That's very nice of you to say!

Hey Kara-

I used Ipswich Pine from Minwax, and my wood is red oak. The were not pre-finished, they were put together here when we added on and they were stained and finished while we were away in LBI on vacation. :goodvibes

Cammie says she did Kim Possible Challenge with Lauren today and it was sooo cool- think we can do it in May?:thumbsup2

Thanx for that color! I think we're gonna lay the prefinished hardwoods (we're gonna do it ourselves in my office and if it's as easy as "they" say, we're gonna do the whole downstairs! :scared: ).

Yes! I think we're gonna do the KP Challenge in two weeks with Ally so if it's as cool as "they" say, I'm all over it! Who are "they" anyway? :rotfl2:

Ellen,

Wow...I'm sad to see this trip report come to an end. This has truly been one of the best trip reports ever.

Did your boys enjoy DQ? Our DS loved it, but it was sooo crowded and all the bigger teens seemed to take over the day we were there. Still, we plan to do DQ again on our last day of our upcoming trip. Pods looks like was WAY too into that boxing thing!!

Those new BLT rooms look very nice, but if we were DVC I think I would go AKV instead.

Congrats on the DISmeet with Nikki! How cool is that? :cool2:

Absolutely love your dog....she's beautiful! I wanted a big, mellow yellow dog like that, but we ended up with a silky terrior! Well, as you know, I do love my terrior, Truman!

Oh, thanks for the V-day food porn. Nice! Next thing you know, your boys are going to be like my kids...."Dad, can we eat our food now, or do you need to take a picture of it first?" :rotfl2: Poor kids - I've warped them into thinking that taking food pictures is just a normal thing that every family does! :rotfl2:

We are excited about our DISmeet with you & DGFs in May! Maybe next time we can meet Pods and the boys as well.

I have really enjoyed reading your trip report! It was my first cruise trip report--and just by chance, I am from NJ too! I am not sure how I stumbled on your TR--just by chance I guess.

I have taken lots of notes/tips for our upcoming cruise (in 2011  ). I don't think we can do a Jersey Week cruise but possibly the week after. The weather looked great which was a big concern for me!

Again, thanks for sharing your family memories with us!

Blakely

I also remember someone (as a joke) wrote "I can't wait to see what you do for Valentine's Day. Well....we did this! DH & I went out to our favorite restaurant, Theresa's, in Westfield, on Friday night. Dinner was delicious, but the BEST part was the wine- which we brought from home (in NJ we have BYOB restaurants, it is the BEST thing EVER!!!!)- it was actually part of a case of wine that was a gift from my DGF Clare and her DH Tim. The wine was CAYMUS cabernet sauvignon. O. M. G. If you EVER have the opportunity to drink this wine, you HAVE TO try it!! It is like drinking smooth, dark chocolate. MMMMMMMM.... Anyway, on Saturday we had a romantic evening with the boys! Although, while I was slaving away in the kitchen, DH was on the couch having a romantic interlude with ANOTHER GIRL!!!!:scared1: WTH? Do you think I should be worried?

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: It looks pretty serious, don't ya think?

That was too funny:lmao: .

I have loved reading your reports and will keep checking back.

You found the pic!! Awesome! Although I am NOT a fan of the extreme close-up! Thanks again for letting me borrow the navigators and for the cruise tips! I really am getting super excited for the trip. Less than 5 months now! Do you think we can keep your trip report going until then? How about start from the beginning and tell us again. You really do have the best western trip report I've found. (No offense to anyone else who's done one. To be honest, I haven't looked for one in a while.)

Hi nikki! You need to look for anewmac's TR and Zweihund's tr- they're both really good and about the Western. But thanks for the big compliment, I feel honored!! :goodvibes

Thanks for reading so faithfully, Alan!! Can't wait for our Dismeet in May!!:woohoo: I'll be back to Disney with the whole family in November, don't know if you'll be there then-but if so, we'd love to hook up!!:thumbsup2

Hi Blakely!! Thanks for reading- you will have a great time on the cruise!! Do you live nearby in NJ?

That was too funny:lmao: .

I have loved reading your reports and will keep checking back.

I loved the dog pics, too!:rotfl2: When I looked over and saw them sitting there like that, it totally cracked me up. Then i was sayin, "Kids- bad Valentine's Day news!! Daddy's found a new girl!" and we were all laughing at the photos!:lmao:

I also hate to see this TR end, you are so good at this my dear!

As to the other woman, you should worry, she's gorgeous!:goodvibes

And don't think she doesn't know it!! Stuck-up *****!:lmao: Actually that's not true- she is a love- very, very sweet.

Uh-oh! Maybe I AM in trouble!!:rotfl:

Hi! As promised, there's a link in my sig to my brand new TR about St John which I've just started on the Community Board (Thanks Tammie!). Please come over and say hi!! There'll be tons of photos of ST John and the area, so if you're headed out on an Eastern cruise, it may help you get excited for the beauty of the eastern Caribbean!!

Thanks-
Ellen:hippie:

Hey girl! I was not aware this tr was still going on; thought it ended with the pictures of me on the BW!

So cool to hook up with another DISer! I think I have enjoyed Nikki's food porn over the years here on the DIS. So - she's a Jersey girl too

Yes - NEW JERSEY IS THE GREATEST STATE IN THE COUNTRY - BYOB restaurants AND full-service gas stations! WOOT!

And I can't believe I knew about the fabulousness of Caymus before a wine expert such as yourself. You might want to mention to your readers though - that stuff ain't cheap!;)

And look at all the cool free stuff everyone gets on a Disney Cruise!!! Korbel champagne-

2008_110206summer0189.jpg

White chocolate champagne glasses (which the DSs immediately chowed down), a DCL wine bucket and 2 DCL spa robes-

2008_110206summer0193.jpg

Ok- I have a little secret to tell you- not everyone gets this for free on DCL. Sorry for the tease. But my DH doesn't know that. He to this day believes that this is just how nice it is on a Disney Cruise. But really? I got the REAS . Because it's my 1st Disney Cruise. And I'm a foodie. And I really wanted to go to Palo. All three times to Palo, for brunch, tea and dinner. And a first time cruiser books Palo 75 days out. After all the repeat cruisers booked at 90 days out. And they booked after the lucky cruisers who were in suites booked at 105 days out....along with me, and whoever else booked the REAS. I know, it's somewhat deceptive. But I had some cash leftover from a girls trip I had been on, so I figured, why not? I actually got a debit card to book it with so it wouldn't be on our Disney Visa, where my CPA-bill-paying DH would have seen it. And I can PROMISE you, he enjoyed it. So it's a win/win, right?;) Look, just be glad I use my evil deceptiveness for the good and not the bad!

How did you book and pay in advance, if you don't mind my asking? I'm sure I'll have to resort to a little subterfuge as well if I want the goodies too.:confused3 I thought the REAS was just added to the price of your cruise. BTW, I had seen this in your cruise TR when I read the whole thing the first time around but couldn't remember who posted it so I've been searching all afternoon.:surfweb: :lmao:

Yes- the Caymus is a LOT more than we would spend in a liquor store on a bottle of wine- it's like $65. Pods was like, "glad you enjoyed it...now forget about it!":lmao: And I am NO expert- I just have a good friend who SERIOUSLY is and she steers me in the right direction because she knows what my palate likes. Kinda cool having a personal sommelier that's so amazing Martha Stewart has hired her for the radio!

BTW, I had seen this in your cruise TR when I read the whole thing the first time around but couldn't remember who posted it so I've been searching all afternoon.:surfweb: :lmao:

I called and found out the exact amount and then purchased a Visa debit card at a bank- this "excursion" they charge you for before the cruise. But there is some weird rule about cruise charges and credit cards- so the exact amount was not enough- they needed more $, which they then refunded to my credit card later (something to do with an assumed gratuity, i think). So I had about $65 on my Disney Visa, and then $300whatever on my Visa debit. he really never knew! Good luck!:thumbsup2 And I can't believe you remembered the story and searched all day!!

I am just getting back on the dis to read your GREAT TR!

It seems that I got a nasty computer virus that KILLED :scared1: the computer and dh had to rebuild it from the floor up.:surfweb:

Now I can get back to planning our next DCL trip next year. :woohoo:

Hi JUDY!!!!! How nice to see you again! So sorry about your computer! How AWFUL for you- what was the virus? Well, I hope you're all doing well.

I wanted to let everyone know that my disfriend, Nikkiloveswdw, has started a GREAT TR- she's getting married in July and honeymooning in WDW AND DCL Western. And Nikki LOVES photos, so even the pre-trippie is loaded with them. I really hope you'll go read it! And come read my St John TR!! The link is in my sig-

Thanks Ellen!!! Come on by, everyone!!

There is a link in my signature to my TR on the TR board but I also have one on the cruise tr board as well, in case you stumble upon that one. It's the same updates, just two different places! :thumbsup2

What an awesome trip report! Ok I might have missed this answer but I was wondering at the Dolphin Swim....are those all photos u bought from the park? Cause I thought u couldn't use ur own camera. Also what is the cost for video and photos.?? I have done the Eastern twice, I am excited to be doing the western in october! TTFN

I know I read this during my first pass through your TR - but could you break down the REAS by item and estimated value of the item? I know one of your main reasons for REAS was early booking of Palo, but now that you are Castaway Cay members and can reserve early anyway, would you sign up for REAS again? Is it something that you would repeat or would you use the money for something else next time??? Is it something you would recommend to others?
