HI!

We were recently at SSR in a 2br villa and we are now SOOOOO spoiled and I'm afraid it will be a challenge to have our kids share a bed again at disney. My kids just hate it (particularly my daughter). My husband is completely sold on us purchasing a DVC sometime this spring! :)

So- my question is, what rooms at what DVC villas, have either 2 beds, or a bed/couch or bunk beds or something so the parents are in one bed, and the kids can be separate- I assume this is a sleep 5 situation? I assume all the 2 bedrooms do this, but maybe not? And are there any one bedrooms, or studios with this offering?

Thanks so much!!!

All the 2 bedrooms have a king in the master bedroom and either 2 queens or a queen and a sofabed in the second bedroom. BLT and some AKV have a sleeper chair in the living room in addition to the sofabed in a 1 bedroom, making the official occupancy 5.

Hi! We just stayed at a 2 Bedroom villa at SSR for the first time too in November! It was great! We have three children and the last two times we went to Disney before - we stayed at Contemporary where there were 2 queen size beds and one single sofa, the next year we went to Wilderness lodge and again 2 queen size beds. Fortunately, my parents went too, so our oldest daughter stayed with them. Regular Disney rooms are not meant for families of 5! Anyways, we decided to buy DVC and couldn't be happier. It was wonderful have the two bedrooms and roomy accomodations. We already made a reservation for a 2 bedroom at Kidani in November. One of the things that sold us on AK was the ability to have 5 in one bedroom because there is a sleeper chair in the living room as well as a pull out sofa. I believe that there is the same arrangement at BLT too! I don't think that there are any other 1 bedrooms that offer that at DVC. But, after looking at the points it really isn't that much more to stay in a 2 bedroom so we decided to go for it and bought enough points for that plan.

All of the DVC 2 bedrooms will accommodate your 2 children in separate beds if one of them won't mind a sleep sofa bed.

If you do not want to get a 2 bedroom, you will need either a 1 bedroom at BLT or a 1 bedroom at AKV (any booking category except value). Those have a sleep sofa and a separate sleep chair in the living room.

All of the BLT 1 bedroom units also have 2 bathrooms. The 1 bedroom units in the Kidani building at AKV also have 2 bathrooms - those in the Jambo (main AKL) do not.

Another option (although less attractive in my mind) is to bring an aero bed or something similar for one of the children. If you do that, you can even stay in a studio. Unless you use the room only to sleep and shower, I would not recommend a studio - too small for your group, IMHO.

Thank you, thank you! This was really helpful!! :)

One more question- what 2 bedrooms don't come with 2 beds in the second bedroom? If I'm doing a 2br, I'd really like for them to both have beds, and not a sleeper sofa!

Thanks again!!

The dedicated 2 bedrooms have to queen size beds in the second bedroom. 2 bedroom lock offs have a queen bed and sleeper sofa.

Oh thanks! I was always wondering what the 'lock off' was!

I think we can finally now sort out the points we'll really need.

Thank you everyone that posted!!

The dedicated 2 bedrooms have two queen size beds in the second bedroom. 2 bedroom lock offs have a queen bed and sleeper sofa.
There are some exceptions:

At BCV, some of the dedicated 2 bedroom villas there have one queen bed and 1 queen sleep sofa in the second bedroom. The 2B dedicated villas with 2 queen beds are a separate booking category and are very popular. They are difficult to get unless you can book at the 11 month window. The 2B lock off villas have 1 queen bed and 1 double sleep sofa in the second bedroom.

At OKW, all 2B have two queen beds in the second bedroom, even the lock off units.

For the other WDW DVC resorts, the dedicated 2B villas have 2 queen beds in the second bedroom and the lock off units have 1 queen bed and a double sleep sofa in the second bedroom.

At BWV, all the two bedroom villas are lock offs. No dedicated two bedroom villas there.

A lock off two bedroom can be separated into a studio and a one bedroom and rented out that way. A dedicated two bedroom can only be a two bedroom.

If space and beds are what you're looking for, you can't beat OKW. Prior to purchasing, try and book some time at OKW or see if you can stop by and tour a 2-BR. You'll be amazed at the space, and all 2-BRs have 2 queen beds, as Carol mentioned.

Just something to consider, and OKW resale prices are awesome! You can get a lot for your money. I know everyone has their preferences, but OKW is one of my very favorite DVCs. :thumbsup2

The sleeper sofas really aren't bad - they have decent mattresses and no bar.

We stay at BWV, so we've always done the lockoff - but my kids think its very cool to have their own microwave and fridge, and don't mind the pullout in trade. If we throw some juice and milk into the fridge and give them cereal bowls, some microwave popcorn and a few snacks - they set up housekeeping.

Thanks for the responses! One more question came up for me though- what about the 'value' rooms at AKV? They are smaller- so does that mean no 2 beds in 2nd br?

Thanks again so much everyone!!

I asked about them when making our reservation. I was told that there were not any value rooms at Kidani - only at Jambo. Not sure about the 2 beds though and we wanted to stay at Kidani - so I reserved a dedicated 2 bedroom there.

The value 2 bedroom villas are smaller that will mean they will not have a sleeper chair in the living room like the other 2 bedroom units at AKV. They will have 2 beds in the 2nd bedroom.

All of the 2BRs in Jambo House are lockoffs so your second bedroom will be a studio with a queen and full-size sleeper sofa, even in a Value 2BR. The Value rooms are 3 feet shorter so there was no room for a sleeper chair in the living area of the 1BR and no room for the bench seat and drawer in the studio.

My 2 kids won't sleep in a bed together either. Can't blame them DD is 20 and DS is 17 so we always have to get 2 rooms. In a real pinch my daughter will sleep with me and son sleeps with hubby. We did that at a Hilton in Cabo. The room was huge and the girls were always up and out earlier than the boys so it worked for a few days.

Value rooms will NOT have 2 real beds in the 2nd bedroom, because they will be lock-offs only. You will have two sleep sofas though...one in the second bedroom and one in the living room. The value rooms do not have the pull out chair.
