Groceries in HHI

There's a Piggly Wiggly closest to the resort(just past the mall outside Shelter Cove) but I like to go to Publix-there are a couple, I go to the one by the WalMart usually.

We shopped at Sams Club and Bi-Lo. Both were in the same shopping center by the McDonalds.

I'll do Sams, but wont shop WM.

We thought PW had outrageous prices like Goodings at WdW.

Ditto... Piggly Wiggly is just short bike ride away. Sometimes their produce is a bit dated, but otherwise they have everything. HHI has BBQ grilles and PW has these cool little bags of charcoal that you just place the bag in the grille and light the bag.... and that's it. You have a nice fire in about ten minutes.

I love, love, love Publix. They also have great freshly made chicken tenders at the deli counter. Not to mention Boar's Heads meats.

I love the Publix, too. We go to the one down by the entrance to Sea pines. For a special treat, you could go to the Fresh Market south of the resort on the right. This is not a full-service grocery, but has wonderful produce, meat, seafood, and deli (but it ain't cheap).

THanks everyone! Disdaydreamer your pictures make me very excited for our trip in April. Can't wait!

I'm on the waitlist for April.

I usually do my shopping at the Pig because the one closest in Shelter Cove is pretty much geared to how I shop on vacation. It has a lot of prepared foods and Deli items, fresh bakery style breads, good cheeses, and a wine selection. (There is also a wine store a few doors down.) The prices are resort prices, but not as bad as Goodings. For the specials you can ask for their 'vacation' store card, and even if you don't have one, the clerks will click it in for you and give you the 'specials' price.

Winn Dixie, Publix, Fresh Foods, Bi Lo, Sams and Walmart are also close by. There are also a few good 'stands' for veggies and fresh shrimp. There are a number of bakeries, including Seines, Colligny, and a couple I can't put a name on right now. The Hilton Head Diner has a small bakery case as well.

There is a delivery option from a number of local restaurants, as well as good takeout that isn't fast food. I like Just Pasta for takeout. Check the big restaurant guide from the front desk or that is in kiosks around the island.

Thanks to the poster who suggested using the bag of charcoal for the grills. Great for when we are in a studio! I've used those before but not at HH....just didn't register. I would think fluid, charcoal, etc and say just too much trouble! You've opened up a new option of steaks, burgers, baked potatoes, corn in foil, etc!

Thanks you guys are great!!!! I am sooooo excited! I am looking forward to sunny and warm weather!
