Rooms on Deck 5?

Tell me all about staying on Deck 5! We booked a Cat 8 for our cruise in Oct. Our room assignment is room 5508. Our friends will be staying in 5510 & 5512. I am excited about being on a quieter floor, close to the kids' clubs. We were on deck 6 last Nov. and really liked that location, also.

Our first one was booked in 5018, and we loved it so much that we thought we'd try the same room on the other side of the ship in 5518. These are each tucked into the corner with a SPH room on one side, so it's really easy to get to. I love not having an entire row of room after room after room to try to find our door. Deck 5 is pretty much close to everything. We loved being on the same deck as the club, and you could pretty much take the stairs for wherever you wanted to go. Loved it!!! :goodvibes

We love Deck 5! Very convenient to really everything on the ship. Our son uses the kids club frequently during the day, so it was so much easier signing him in and out. We stayed in an aft balcony room and felt like it was a well kept secret location. The safety drill is in one of the restaurants - nice and air conditioned! That was an added bonus.

Love that tidbit about the safety drill!! I am really excited about this location- we booked it over a Cat 9 b/c I wasn't real excited about staying on Deck 2. One of the things I loved about Deck 6 was being able to take the stairs everywhere. We did not have a porthole last cruise so I'm definitely looking forward to that!

Glad to hear all these great things about Deck 5. We're taking our first ever cruise in 15 more days and we're on Deck 5. :goodvibes

We love deck 5 cat 8 rooms. We have been in 5012 and it is our favorite. You are close to everything on the ship. Up a few floors to deck 9, down a few floors to the restaurants, shops and nightlife. And the area is very quiet as there are not many rooms so you avoid a bunch of foot traffic. For our first couple cruises we booked a cat 6 on deck 6 and didn't realize how noisy it was until we had our cabin on deck 5 forward. We have also stayed on deck 6 and 7 in cat 8 rooms and love the deck 5 area the best.

As for the safety drill, the drill is outside. The inside location is for those in the aft section. I don't want you to get your hopes up and then end up disappointed.

You will love the deck 5 location. But shhhh....it's our secret.

Have a great cruise.

We have only stayed on deck 5 - LOVE it!!:thumbsup2 First time we were in a Cat 6 Aft and last time we were in one of the SPH rooms just before the Cat 8's!:thumbsup2 Love not having such long hallways with nothing but doors and doors and more doors to walk past!! You will love it!:thumbsup2

That's Ok about the safety drill- no big deal. Inside, outside- as long as I'm on the ship, right?

My friends who are traveling with us are in room 5012! I can't wait to tell her that you loved the room. We linked our reservations, along with her sister's room, and I am on the opposite hallway than them. I guess it doesn't matter as I know it's not far at all. We were just kinda hoping to be 3 in a row, or at least in the general vicinity. It's not worth switching decks for, though :lmao: I'm not giving up Deck 5!!!!

We had rooms 5626 and 5627 last time we cruised with the kids, and it was great! Like the others said, it was convenient, quiet, and the safety drill was in Animators. I would definitely book a room on deck 5.

My last cruise was the Eastbound Panama Canal cruise last year. We were in 5624. So right next door to you. At first I was not happy with the room when it was assigned to me but I loved it and want to book in that area for my next round of cruises.

Deck 5 rocks - I loved it very much - we were in a category 6 - room 5624 and we thought it was such a convenient spot.

We were in 5002 this December and it was great except for the noise in the Walt Disney Theater. We could hear the rehearsals loud and clear during the day. We also got to hear the Bolt in 3d matinee during my 3 year old's nap. Other than that, we loved being on deck 5.

I read somewhere on here to avoid rooms 5000 & 5002, so I put that in my request to my TA. My kids are night owls, so I'm not too worried about nighttime noise. What about movement? We stayed midship last cruise and I was surprised to not get sick- I have vertigo and was very fearful of being sick. I took Bonine the whole time and never got sick once.

We had 2 cat. 8 on our last cruise, and I loved the location except for the noise of the Walt Disney Theatre. They were having special rehearsals and it was LOUD! We are night owls, but this went on until almost 2 and the floor was vibrating with the loud bass. I called the front desk and someone came up, and apologized and went down and spoke with the cast members rehearsing and they toned it down a bit, but it was still loud.

This only happened twice.

As for vertigo, well we had really big swells on our cruise (Mexican trip) so sometimes you could barely walk, especially the last day. A lot of people were feeling unwell, and this was the only cruise of 4 that I was nauseous. So, just to be sure, I'm going to stay either aft or mid-ship in the future. The rest of my family was fine.

GREAT deck! Deck 5 will be my new home away from home! My sister ad I just got back yesterday. It is indeed very convient infact we only used the elevator 3 times in 7 days! Just like in real estate it's all about location1 location! locatoion!

I honestly did not feel any more motion in our room than I did in any other areas of the ship.

Out of 13 cruises on the Magic... we only have deck 5!
5124-5130 ... it's quiet and easy to get around, and the boat drill is at Animator's. I cant think of anything negitive about it!
Yup.. and our up coming WBTA cruise is on deck.... 5 !:goodvibes
