HobNobbing with Nobby (A Gnome's 1st Trip to the World) FINAL Upt: 9/23 (P.48)

I followed you over here from LL's pre-trippie and read your whole report so far! I love it - Nobby seems like a delightful travel companion. I used to have a chicken named Mr. Vacuum who accompanied me on all my WDW trips, though in 2006 he decided he liked Florida so much he wanted to stay there :sad1: I'm also doing a mostly solo trip in March (going with my mom, but she has a conference and will be in meetings a lot) so it's fun to read about your solo adventures. So great, can't wait for more!

I actually love that this shot is so dark. It really puts an emphasis on the beautiful window. Great shot!:wizard:

The monorail does have a smell and it is not pleasant. :lmao:

Chapter 10: There’s a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow…the song I love to have stuck in my head!

Happy Valentine’s Day!! I hope each of you have a great day celebrating however you decide to celebrate!!! My husband surprised me and added to our Valentine’s Day by agreeing to take tickets to see Andrew Kearns (one of the Irish Tenors) in concert last night. We were able to join our best friends and we had a great time. The music was fantastic, boy can that man sing. Well I promise not to ramble too much as I have to get us all the way through Tomorrowland (which is most likely an hour of Disney time and yet it takes me days to write it for you to enjoy). Oh wait…I feel another ramble coming on although this is definitely Disney related LOL!

Also I made my first purchase towards future trips! See thanks to Soleil I have become a Vera Bradley lover. My very first Vera purchase was a hipster and I love it. It is a great everyday purse that I can take with me to work and what not. I even contemplated taking it to Disney but then released that traveling by myself and having Nobby the hipster was just not going to cut it. However I was very interested in the Cargo Sling. It was bigger and it looked like it might make it to Disney World. My friend LL had recently gotten one and had mentioned that hers was perfect for the things she wanted to carry around including Nobby so I was sold. So I went to Ebay and I found an auction where you could offer a best price and it was accepted so hopefully sometime next week my newest Vera will arrive. For those interested here is a photo of my new trip bag.

Okay, Okay...now we'll get back to Tomorrowland LOL!

Nobby and I had arrived in plenty of time and we had scoped out a spot for the Opening Show. Now I’m sorry I didn’t really take pictures of this because I really just wanted to watch it and enjoy it because sometimes I get so caught up in getting the perfect picture I miss a lot. The opening show was fantastic as usual and I love listening to the song they sing and seeing the train pull up with all the characters. Then it was time to countdown and head inside. Now I can commando with the best of them, but seriously this trip there would be no pushing, no running, no speed walking, I would get where I was going and would do it at my own pace with no worries. Then the moment we had been waiting for, we were walking down Main Street. Now I’m not a big emotional crier, before this trip I had never cried when I saw the Castle, never cried during Wishes (of course I had never seen wishes), I don’t do the happy cry. This time it was a bit different, maybe it was the Main Street Bakery smell or the beautiful sight before me, but the tears came. I didn’t breakdown or anything but a few very happy tears were shed because here I was in the most magical place and I was having the most amazing time. Well I quickly composed myself and started walking down Main Street making sure to wave to all the wonderful people who were out to greet us that chilly morning. I also made a mental note to ask the CMs if the construction crane, which I assumed was doing some refurb on the castle was going to be there for awhile. I will take any photo of Cinderella’s castle that I can get, but still I was really hoping the next time I came the crane would be gone LOL! Nobby and I had a plan and we wanted to hit up Tomorrowland first so that is where we headed, but we got a bit sidetracked. I saw my first Photopass photographer YAY!! This guy was taking photos from an angle which meant not so much crane in my photo YAY!! So I stopped and posed for a bit. Some of these shots are just plain cheesy so I’ll just show you the normal one for now LOL!

Then it was time to enter Tomorrowland.

I love the music in Tomorrowland it really just sets the futuristic mood. So I headed to get a FP for Space Mountain and then decided to go ahead and do the standby line because the wait was 15 minutes tops.

DSCF0429-1.jpg

Okay I have heard you can either go right or left on this ride and it makes a difference and I mentally tell myself each time to pay attention to wherever this fork in the line is, but yet again it thwarted me and I just kept going straight and I can’t possibly tell you which side I went on because yet again I didn’t even realize there were sides…oh well maybe in the fall LOL!! Space Mountain was great, Nobby and I loved it!! The ride always scares me a bit though that I’m going to hit my head on something, but it never fails I always come out in once piece. I really love the little exhibits you get to view as you are leaving especially the robo-dog, I wish I could take him home with me.

After leaving Space Mountain with a FP to return later it was time to take on the Evil Emperor Zurg and his Alien Gang!

DSCF0441-1.jpg

I really really like this ride, the queue is fun and I just love being able to shoot the Z targets everywhere. Am I any good?? Well that can be up for debate, but did I have fun oh you’d better believe it!! Here is a photo of my final score, I didn’t bother to check what my Star Command level would be, because it most likely said pathetic but I really enjoyed the ride!!

I then had to go and get pictures of Zurg put behind bars where he really belongs.

As Nobby and I were exciting Buzz Lightyear, Nobby reminded me it was his turn to choose a ride and he wanted to go on Stitch’s Great Escape. Look I love this gnome but sometimes you just have to draw a line and while you my wonderful readers may enjoy that ride, there is nothing you can do to get me on it again, not even the cutest and most adorable gnome in the world begging could convince me to go. He wanted to go by himself but he didn’t quite make the height requirements so he was a bit put out and wanted to go pout. I promised him that any other ride he wanted to go on, even the dreaded tea cups, I would go on with him. He thought this over for a bit and got a sheepish grin on his face and I knew then I was going to regret my promise, oh and yes my friends later that day I would definitely regret that promise. With a satisfied gnome, we decided to leave Tomorrowland and head to Fantasy Land before things got too crowded there. As we were exciting it dawned on me the Carousel of Progress, we totally didn’t go see it. So turn around we did.

DSCF0445.jpg

Okay I have a confession to make I have never once in my life seen the Carousel of Progress. I honestly had no idea this ride even existed until I heard people rave about it here on the DIS board, but from the sounds of things it was the type of ride I would love! Oh did I love this ride, it was fantastic!! The song, oh, the song is amazing…let’s all sing it together…

“There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow…
shining at the end of everyday…
There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow…
And tomorrow is just a dream away.”

The song I love to get stuck in my head! I can see why this was one of Walt’s favorite rides, it is now one of mine! Now with that completed and crossed of our to-do list we were off to Fantasyland, most definitely Nobby’s favorite land of them all LOL.

Would I make good on my promise to Nobby to ride ANY ride he wanted, NO MATTER WHAT? Would the very princessy tiara ever make a grand appearance on my head? Is there another song out there that could possibility knock “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow,” out of my head??? Well if you’re lucky you’ll find out tomorrow if not the best I can promise is by Wednesday!! Until then my friends……sing with me again LOL!! Okay Okay I’ll knock it off with the song!!!

I love my VB cargo sling. I have it in Raspberry Fizz. But my hipster is Capri Blue...just like your sling! I'm taking my cargo sling to the World next week. I think it will be perfect!

I love your TR and all the pics. Keep up the good work and happy vday. :lovestruc

You had NEVER seen Carousel of Progress? :scared1: Thank goodness you remedied that! What was that crane doing there? Taking down holiday decorations maybe? Can't wait to hear what Nobby made you ride later that day... popcorn::

Now I have the song stuck in my head....I love CoP! I didn't get a chance to see it on the last trip, I don't really know why! But I'm glad you got to see and enjoy it! :) And I too love little robo-pup! I say hi and wave to him specifically every time I go past (yes, I'm a nerd! :) I like to think he's real! :rolleyes1 ). Sounds like you and Nobby were off to a good start in Tomorrowland!

Sigh. I want more Jen TR goodness! :rotfl:

I am so glad that you love CoP. It would be a shame if you didn't. ;) It is seriously one of my favorite rides, I am very sentimental about those rides that had Walt's influence. :goodvibes

I agree with LL! CoP is one of those priceless Walt Disney creations. It is one of my favorites. Oh, and now I'm singing the song!

Well darn, now i wish i'd gone on CoP! Oh well... next time :) i'm all caught up and still very much enjoying your TR Jen! More more more! :goodvibes

Awww thanks!! I really love the look of this pattern and I know I'm going to love this cargo sling!!! I'm excited to get it!!!

Nope, I had also never seen the Carousel of Progress and I had never really noticed TTA either, but don't worry I would remedy that later in this trip LOL!! This was a trip of a lot of firsts later!!!!

Yes I believe the crane was there to finish removing all the lights from Cinderella's Castle!

Now I have the song stuck in my head....I love CoP! I didn't get a chance to see it on the last trip, I don't really know why! Isn't it a great song though to have stuck in your head!! I was listening to it early and I just LOVE it...I mean I really love this song LOL!!!

That robo-dog is amazing, I bet he has a name, I'm going to have to find out for us Stace!

Sigh. I want more Jen TR goodness! :rotfl:

We could ride that thing just over and over if you wanted!! The appliances that open could amuse me forever LOL!!!! COP is also one of my new favorite rides!!

I agree with LL! CoP is one of those priceless Walt Disney creations. It is one of my favorites. Oh, and now I'm singing the song!

I'm glad this TR was able to spread that song around in the minds and hearts of many people today, it is that wonderful!!!!!

Well darn, now i wish i'd gone on CoP! Oh well... next time :) i'm all caught up and still very much enjoying your TR Jen! More more more! :goodvibes

Awww thanks!!! Yes you got to love being able to say...next time!! I can't wait to hear about your trip!!!!

Great update, Jen, but I would like to see the "cheesy" castle pics.

Oh, if only my Connor were as amenable as Nobby where Stitch is concerned. Unfortunately, I can't cram Connor back in my bag when he starts whining about that ride, so we usually do it. :crazy2:

Love Buzz Lightyear, but I am secretly glad that SM is down for a refurb this summer. ;)

I haven't been on the Carousel of Progress since I was about eight. Shhhh. :ssst:

I can't wait to see what Nobby makes you ride later on.

I'm thinking the only ride that will get rid of CoP's song is......

It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small, small world!

Nobby + dancing dolls = :lovestruc

Great update, Jen! I LOVED COP!

And Jackie-shame on you! Well, now that your DIS name has evolved to become CP you must ride it, as it has your initials within it!
