Hi there,
Does anyone know if I can upgrade my tickets after the 45 day mark but before arrival. I have the 4/3 deal with 7day base tickets. I want to upgrade to 10D no exp, but want to hold off on paying for it until after the final payment is due so I can spread out the amount due a little bit Thanks:lovestruc

You can, and if it's an upgrade (i.e., spending more money), I believe they waive any change fee.

You can also wait until you arrive, and each person in your party can upgrade the tickets to any level they desire.

TYVM for both answers!
I want the non-expire ticket for the discount, but want to upgrade it to an AP when I get there so in the end it will be like getting an AP for a discount. I know you can only upgrade a ticket once, so will I still be OK making the change to a non-expire when I arrive or should I do it before so it would not be considered 2 upgrades. I want to put off paying for it as long as possible;) which is why I am making this so conviluted. Thanks again for all the help!

You could do this but you would not benefit from the discount that is built into the 4/3 deal for no-expiry passes.

I did a check on Disney's website to see what it costs to add no-expiry to various tickets. Here's a breakdown of the savings if you add it ahead of time as a part of your 4/3 package as opposed to doing it at WDW:

7-days
$53.25 (normally $117.15)......savings = $63.90
8-days
$74.55 (normally $154.43).....savings = $79.88
9-days
$85.20 (normally $181.05).....savings = $95.85
10-days
$117.15 (normally $213.00).....savings = $95.85

Upgrade the tickets as a part of your package in order to get the savings listed in my post above. When you get to WDW, use the pass at least once before upgrading it to an AP. This will enable you to get the full gate value of the pass applied to your upgrade instead of only the amount that you paid for it. :)

Thank you both VERY much for making it so clear. I don't think there is anywhere else a person could go to get such great advice on Disney! Disney should in fact take note. It never fails to amaze me how much I don't know about the ins and out of Disney trip planning.

Thanks for this. I'm sure that was a great help to the OP!
And it helps me figure out something I had in mind about upgrading in a few months too.

I have plans of doing the same thing. I want to upgrade my tickets after the 45 day mark as well as add the DDP. Does anyone know how many days before we arrive that I should do this, (I believe the DDP is 3 days, but what about the tickets?) There are 6 of us so it is a nice amount of money and I just would rather pay at the latest date.

Are you going to WDW after the booking date for the 4/3 deal ends? You may want to check to make sure that you would still be elgible for getting the 3 days free on the new tickets if you are beyond that date.

I think right now, all 4/3 trips need to be BOOKED by the end of March. If you are thinking of chaning the tickets after this date, you want to be sure that you would still be eligible. I would think if you have a 4/3 package booked it would not be an issue, but you never know.

Good point! I am going 4/9 so will plan on upgrading tickets the end of march which gives me about a month extra to pay for the tickets. Thanks!:hmghost:
