Hello all:

Just wanted to know if at dinner you could just get a salad, steak, Baked potato, and veg. I the menus are quite nice-but thats just not me

anyone else feel the same?

Hi
I cruised three years ago and they had a steak every night if you wanted. not sure on the baked potato, but I know they offer french fries each night, (on the kids menu so no problem getting that) you shouldn't have a problem at all.

absolutely! the "lighter-fare" part of the menu offered sirloin, potato and veggie every night. (I got the baked potato often with sour cream)
In addition, on the regular menu, there was some form of beef every night (tenderloin, fillet, beef wellington etc etc)
Plus all the hotdogs and hamburgers you can stomach (either by the pool or room service)
Come hungry!

I am the King of meat, you will not have any problems at diner time:thumbsup2

You can also ask them to hold the "sauce" on the fancy meat dishes-my husband refuses all condiments!

I had beef tenderloin three nights last week. You just ask them to hold the sauce if you so choose. The seafood and poultry dishes were fantastic too.

My DH is also a meat & potatoes guy. He ordered several times off the "lighter fare" menu. The last night he got a rib-eye cooked to Med Rare, with baked potato & steamed veggies, plus whatever appetizer & salad he ordered. I ordered once off the same menu & got a great baked salmon.

The food is "Free" ;) so order something off of the menu and get your steak and potatoe as a back up.

My DH hated their mashed potatoes so every time a main dish came up that he liked he had them replace the mashed with baked.

He also ate off the lighter fare menu a couple of times. Our DD did the same when she was tired of chicken nuggets! :cool1:

Hello fellow disers:

Thanks to all who have responded. As usual if ya want answers this is where
you go. Thanks very much

Hey - I should also mention Topsiders for dinner. If you don't like the menu that night (or if you want to go to Topsiders in addition to your own restaurant) You order off a menu at night at Topsiders. They have many of the same things served in the dining rooms. But they also have something from the carving board (prime rib, one night) and always have porter house steaks. I thought it was all really good. And several nights we ordered two things on the menu at dinner. You're on vacation - have a blast.

Glad to hear I am not the only one who feels this way. This was my biggest hesitation about sailing. I am not into all the fancy food and made sure I good just get a steak, interesting how they refer to it as lighter fare, I never think of a steak and Light.

"Plain Steak" IS lighter fare. All of the sauces (that are Oh So Yummy) really add on the calories.

I am also a meat and potato guy except that I am allergic to potatoes so I guess I am just a meat and rice guy! :). I love the "lighter fare" menu. As you can see on one of the recent posts showing all of the menus (posted today or yesterday I think) the lighter fare is really more "simple" fare than lighter.

I found the steaks and fish to be very good and offered a nice variety even on a 7N cruise.

My Dh is the same way, and I was soooo worried that he would be unhappy with the food. He had steak, baked potato salad and dessert every night except our last night, and it was in Parrot Cay. Our server made some suggestions and he decided to try them, and actually ended up enjoying them!!! Who knew!
