Hi all,
My ds is been formerly assessed today for Aspergers - something I have fought for for nearly 2 years so why am I so nervous??
I am going to be gobsmacked if he is not on the autistic spectrum and felt relieved he was finally going to getthe help he needs but today im having an attack of doubt??
Arggh why do I do this to myself? :rotfl:

You'll be fine:hug:. My friends daughter has Aspergers, once she was diagnosed she has been fine for the most part. She is now struggling to get her other daughter tested.

Hope it goes ok today:goodvibes

Hope you get the answers you're looking for - don't worry - nobody knows theirs kids like their parents do - you'll be fine!

It took me 14 years hard long years to get my son diagnosed as then it wasnt that well known, you as a mum will know that there is something wrong, but with the diagnosis it is confirming what you already know.. for me it felt too emotional to be told that he had AS and took me a good couple of weeks to get over it.
sending you

well I went into school tonight and the educational psychologist basically went into the school did what ever he had to do an dthen left without telling anyone anything. So im still in limbo. My ds said he had to do lots of puzzles and that he scored 105 and the man told him his brain was very clever !!! Not quite sure if that good or not :confused3
So hes been assesed and im still in same position as I was yesterday x

AS kids are very clever :thumbsup2

I hope you find out soon  ,as Jeanette said AS children are extremely clever.x.

I've still never had an official diagnosis for my DS aged 12. His Ed Psyc wouldn't give him an autistic label as he only fulfilled 2 of the 3 criteria and she said it would undermine other children's diagnosis to label him autistic. He moved back into mainstream education from a special needs unit in September 2007 and is coping as well as he can, I don't know if an official diagnosis would help as he's getting more or less full time help on his SEN and at the end of the day that is what I wanted. Be prepared for a very long winded report with hopefully what you want at the end. As long as he gets what he needs with regards to help with his education/personal care that's what matter. Best wishes.

see thats what worries me the school are fighting so hard that he does not need any extra help which is ridiculous because he cant even remeber to put pants on every morning unless you prompt him :rotfl2: If an official report backs them up im scared that ds will be left to daydream.
Roughly how long did it take to recieve the report?? Do you think ill get it before we go onholiday in 2 weeks time??

Louise what you need to do is phone up your ed psyc dept on mondaqy morning, tell him your concerns and ask him what the outcome of the report will be. dont wait for them to contact you.
My son is now 25 yrs old. I have until recently worked in a school for asd kids, get as much info as you can now.

Thanks Netty ill give that a go I dont want to come across as too neurotic by phoning too quick especially as the psych who arranged it all only sees it as a way of puuting on paper what we already know - if only I had her confidence x Will phone monday and see what she says x

Well i finally got the result from the assessment only it wasnt the one I wanted the report says that there is very little evidence of an asd so not quite sure where there leaves us now.
Som many questions as to how they can think he is not on the spectrum and ifhe not on the spectrum why does he behave like he does?
Anyways im totally gutted and then feel guilty *** surely I should celebrate the fact hes not on the spectrum not be totally devasted by it.
Just thought id let you all know *** you were all so supportive when I fist posted and if anyone has any advice as to where to go next id love to hear it.
Louise x
