Luggage question....

Hello fellow cruisers....I have done this so many times but my memory fails me right now....we were taking DCL transportation for the 2/28 cruise, but yesterday we changed our reservation to add my MIL who is a Florida resident. She will now be picking us up at the airport and driving us to the port. We have in the past tagged our luggage before we left and Disney picked it up and transported it to the port. Now that we are not taking the transportation, do we have to pick up our own luggage and bring it with us or will they pick it up if it is tagged. We already have our docs....please help me out....Thanks...

If you are not taking DCL transportation, you will need to take your luggage with you. You will still need to use the tags for when you drop the luggage off at the curb at the terminal.

Just called DCL....actually to put us on waitlist for main dinner seating but since I was on the line with them I asked about the luggage....they said as long as the luggage is tagged for the ship with the tags sent to us they will pick it up and the next time we see it will be in our stateroom. I emphasised that we are not taking the DCL transportation and they said it makes no difference....so now I am only hoping that when we leave the ship we can send our luggage to the airport and not have to handle it....

When I was on the ship in October I wanted to check my one bag with continental since my flight was later on in the afternoon. We were renting a car to get back to the airport. DCL would not check my bag thru since I was not taking the Disney transfer bus to the airport.

Then you want to make sure that you check with the Cruise Desk as the resort to make sure they know to send Bell Service to collect your bags on the morning of the cruise.

It is great that they will take it to the ship, but they won't take it back to airport at the end of the cruise. The only way for them to do that is if you book DCL transportation (at least one leg) which is $35. pp.

They no longer have the airline desks to check bags outside the terminal. They are all gone now and in its place is the new onboard airline checkin program.
