How to get readers on the DIS

Posted a trip report from Epcot awhile back. Took about 15-20 min, but no readers.
Since I'm sorta new to the boards, this is probably a stupid question. But how do you flag or get readers, especially if you're not part of the elite 'inner circle'? Example, for trip reports & such.
Any suggestions, tips on how to title a thread...etc?

I wish I could tell you. I'm an official thread killer so I got nothing. But I'll go check our your trip report!

I'm not sure.

I think they get people started with pre-trip reports, and post on other people's trippies, telling them when they are going, etc.

My one big trip report died a premature death. I went on with post after, and got maybe 5 responses before finally giving up.

Of course, it may have been because my trippie consisted of the perils faced when travelling with family.:rolleyes1

Good Luck

I'm sorry that you haven't gotten any readers yet. :guilty: Sometimes it takes a while for people to find your trip report and start reading. Be patient. This board is so big and, unfortunately, some people can be very clique-ish. It may help to provide a link to your trip report in your signature. A catchy title and pictures always help, too. Don't worry, I'll come along for the ride!

Awww, I'm sorry to hear about the premature death of your trip report. :sad2: Unfortunately, that sometimes happens. There should be a DIS trip report supporter group or something. Hey, maybe I'll start one! I'll look for your thread and come along for the ride, too.

I had something really intelligent to reply with but tiggerfan1's siggy has completely distracted me:love: . . .

So without an intelligent thought I would suggest that you post a link to your trip report in your signature. A catchy title usually helps and a brief description of what they may find-- NEW PHOTOS ADDED! PARADE REVIEW, or DINING PHOTOS.

I have no idea why some of the reports get a huge following and some don't. I think sometimes it may just depend on the moon phases!

:rotfl: :lmao: It distracts me too, sometimes!! :lovestruc :rotfl2:

Mickey'sApprentice- I tried to look for your trip report, but I couldn't find it. Could you please post the link? Thanks!

Agreed!

I'm sorry you're having that problem. :( I agree with the other suggestions. I'll go look for your report now :)

Hey,
I'm the mod. over on the Trip Reports Forum.
I just did a Trip Report and I barely had any
posters.
At the end of my last post,
I thanked everyone that posted and read my Trip Report.
I've come to the conclusion, that most people that read
Trip Reports really don't post anything.
I think they want to see how your Trip Report went.
They really can't change the outcome or circumstances,
so they just lurk instead of posting.

Some threads on the Trip reports board are clique threads.
Which is meant in a nice way.
Most have met on the Trip Reports board.
They may see that they have something in common,
such as children the same age.
For us moderator's at times it was a struggle to keep the
Trip reports to trip reports,
we were moderating all sorts of conversations and it really
took away the "mission" of our board.

This is why we will move some of those threads to the Community Board.

We also opened up a pre-trip board, because many will find other posters that are going at the same time, and thus they join forces with their plans.

So, please don't take it personally with lack of posts made to your TR.
Take a look at how many people read your Trip Report.

Hope this helps a little.

It is a pretty old thread.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1436762

Since I didn't finish it...

One of my sisters and her DH were upset for the whole trip because they didn't like being in a studio. The scooter broke down TWiCE, and they left a day early to go to Daytona Beach.

Frankly, they still haven't forgiven me for giving them a free room for a week at WDW.

I feel your pain on this one. It definitely does seem that there is a group that responds lots to each other, but not much to newbies. I started a pre-trip report, and only got 1 response, but I guess I look at it as I am chronicling it for myself and my family. I sent the link to my Mom and sisters to read, and even if they don't post at least I know someone is reading it. I will take a look and see if I can find OP's report. I'm all for reading anything relating to Disney!!!:thumbsup2

Sorry for taking so long to reply. I almost forgot about this thread! Bad Tiggerfan. Anyway, thanks so much for the link. I'll check it out later on today. :thumbsup2

I'm sorry that you didn't get many posters. You have a good point about the readers who don't post anything. Still, it's always nice when people do reply. I'll go check your TR out later today. :thumbsup2

Yup. Like I said in a previous post, some people can be very clique-ish. Ironically, this is coming from a person who happens to be a part of a clique thread! :rotfl: :lmao: Seriously, we need to have some sort of DISer support group for people who don't get responses for their posts. I go on the celebration board sometimes and it saddens me when I see threads that have no replies, especially when their celebrating their birthday or post counts or something. I do my best to make sure that each one has a reply.

How about starting a DISers Helping DISers group? Any wanna join?

Frankly, they still haven't forgiven me for giving them a free room for a week at WDW.

I just read yor trip report and have to say I sure hope ours goes better in May. :surfweb: It still sounds like you at least tried to have a good time. How did your anniversary dinner go? We'll be there in May for our anniversary with my parent's and little ones but planning on having a night just the two of us for dinner.

Anytime your willing to give a free room away I know someone who would be greatly appreciated!!! :rolleyes1

Sad to hear that, I also feel your pain but just be patient, no wonder many replies are just coming along. I'll gonna check your trip report later today. :thumbsup2

Have a nice day. :)

Mickey'sApprentice- Great trip report! I just finished reading it. Unfortunately, since it's an old thread, I'm not able to post a reply. I'm sorry that a lot of unmagical things happened during your trip. It seems like you guys still had a lot of fun. That's too bad that your sisters and their husbands weren't too thrilled to be at WDW. I'm sorry to hear that your wife got so sick during the trip. I hope that she was OK. That was nice of those CMs to bring you guys some food in your room. Oh, and too funny about the WC waiters bringing you guys some champagne when you don't drink!! :rotfl: Thanks for posting your trip report. Hopefully, your next WDW trip will be much better!

OhMari- I just read the first few pages of your trip report. I'm really enjoying it so far! I'll read more tomorrow. I will post a reply on your thread when I'm finished with the whole thing. :thumbsup2

Mickey's Apprentice, I just stared to read your trip report and so far I'm really enjoying it. I just love the picture of wishes over the castle. I really wish I could take night pictures like it. Now I'm going back to reading.:surfweb:
