Stressful Day

I am having a really stressful day when everything is just winding me up. It started late last night when eldest DS discovered that an error had been made by someone else with his entry into the County Championships this coming weekend which has resulted in him not being allowed to swim his best event, which could lead to him not being winning top boy overall - he is in the lead at the moment. We have appealed but been told that he won't be allowed to swim - which is really harsh as it was not our error but he is ulitmatly being punished.
This morning up at 4 am to take him training still cross but trying for his sake to appear calm. DH took youngest DS to a hospital appointment at 9 a.m. following a ligament injury to his foot the last week of the christmas school holiday, he had an hour and fourty min wait to be told after all this time that he need physio. He took him onto school and after being in school for less than 2 hours he is now at the minor injuries unit, following and incident in PE. He is not allowed to do PE at the moment and was apparantly refeering (did i spell that right), when a boy that he has had problems with since primary school did not like a decision he made he headbutted him full in the face directly infront of the teacher, who is also their year head. DS had a massive nose bleed and came over dizzy and had to go to medical room - I get a phone call and now my parents have taken him off to get him checked out! I manage eventually to get the year head on the phone who confirms who I thought it was and tells me that he is only excluded for 24hrs - so I have told him that DS will not be back at school until the boy is permantly excluded.

I am not too sure if I was too hasty but I feel so frustrated that this could happen.

Unfortunately the chances of him being excluded are minimal, our college very rarely excludes a student because they lose the funding for them, this is one of the reasons us teachers are so stressed!

Hope your day gets better :grouphug:

I guess i was lucky then.
My Daughter along with others was bullied terribly at Primary school by a girl who had severe behavior problems, after one particulary bad incident i demanded something was done and a week later the girl was gone.
Although whether the girls parents pulled her out themselves i don't know.

Sorry to hear your having a bad day:hug:

Sorry to hear about your awful day, I hope the week gets better for you. :wizard:

sorry you had a bad day, hope tomorrows better

I have been awake since 3.30 a.m. - not having a good night, still no turn around they will not allow DS to swim, he is devistated he has won the gold medal in this event for some years now and feels that this is why but are appealing but not much hope at all.

My reason for updating is I have written a formal letter of complaint to youngest DS school, I have addressed it to the year head - who I had to phone to find out the situation, I am sending a copy to the headmaster, but should I also copy to the Chairman of the board of governers!

I'm really sorry to hear both bits of your news. I think its terrible that your eldest is not allowed to swim due to no fault of his own!

I Agree that the boy who did this to your youngest should have been punished alot more heavily than this but unfortunately it never happens. I would send the letters though! Hope it gets sorted and you have a better day today.

What a terrible time you're having - on both counts.

How unfair for your son not to be able to swim through no fault of his own. This can't be right - surely? I find this really annoying when after every olympics they go on about how kids are not encouraged to do sports etc and then we allow "silly" rules to spoil someones chances and for all they know could make them walk away from the sport? It's complete madness!

As for your youngest son - OMG! To be headbutted - I mean come on folks - if he was 18 the boy would be up for GBH? What's the difference between this happening in PE and happening in a pub/club - NONE!

Personally if someone did this to my child I'd have no qulams about going to the police.

I really hope you have a better day today :grouphug: - please keep us posted.

Sorry Claire i don't know how i missed this the first time around :sad2: .
I am sorry to hear your having a rough time at the moment  .I know it's easier said than done-but please try not to worry+make sure you get some sleep-it will make you feel better+give you a clearer head to think.
As for your eldest DS,this is disgraceful-it was'nt even his fault  ,i am sorry.
And yes i agree with Janet,i take all forms of violence(whether it be a 3yr,9yr18yr old, whatever age child)very seriously.I have had trouble in the past with a boy in Dd7 school(when she was 6) who did'nt think twice about bullying her over a 5week period-resulting in Chloe being slapped round the face, bitten on her cheek, spat at,being pinched+name calling.I did take it further, like you have with written letters, phone calls etc..as the schools idea of punishment was to move him away from her table, which obviously did'nt stop it continuing in the playground.
The last straw came when he bit her,i went straight up the school+dealt with it MY way.To cut a long story short,he was eventually pulled from the school, whether the school did it or the parents did-i don't know.
Please keep us informed as to what happens  .x.

Thanks for all your kind replies - the day has not improved unfortunatly as just had a text from eldest DS to say that the little 'oick' is back at school today, so much for a weeks exclusion, when I went to school a week was 7 days, when did they change it to 2 1/2 then! Just of to the school now but not too sure if today is the right time to complain as I am so wound up I might explode...

Hi

Just wondered how your son got on with his swimming. I couldn't see a post regarding the outsome so I hope he did OK in the events he could swim in.

Thanks for asking - it was a hard weekend, to cut a long story short he could not swim his backstroke becuse the referee wouldn't let him, it appears though that he made an incorrect decision and we are asking for an investigation into what went wrong. He did swim 3 other events and won a gold, silver and Bronze medal and is now the fastest shortcourse 800m currently in the London region, so really proud.

He is going to see a sports phsycologist tonight to try and help with confidence issues, as he has qualified for the British Championships (only in 1 event, but will be competing against our olympic swimmers etc) and is looking forward to it. so will keep you all informed.

Wow - 3 medals - fantastic! :thumbsup2

You'll have to let us know when he's swimming in the championships so we can all be shouting him on!

What a great result for your eldest DS! Shame about the hiccups pre-competition though :)
I can't believe how violent school children are now - although name-calling went on in our school I don't think it ever got violent :headache: As for being headbutted for an unfavourable decision as referee, I partly blame the professional footballers - look at how "forcefully" they appeal decisions made (although I'm not trying to take blame away from the child - that kind of violence is disgusting!)
Hope your week continues to improve :)
