Hello all,

Even though we are not having a wedding at Disney World or Disneyland, we are planning a wedding with a Disney theme. I am stuck on what to do for centerpieces though, and I thought all of you may be able to help with some ideas.

My plan is to have each table represent a different Disney couple. The head table would be Mickey & Minnie, and we are covered on decor for our table. We will have 12 tables, and I need something to tie each table together (candles or something) along with the individual decor for each theme. So, here is what I have so far:

Donald & Daisy: ???
Cinderella & Prince Charming: glass slipper
Beauty & the Beast: roses
Ariel & Eric: Sea shells (I found colorful glass shells at Wal Mart in the flower section)
Aurora & Phillip: woods animals???
Snow White & the Prince- apples & some sort of wishing well thing
Aladdin & Jasmine: magic carpet & lamp
Pocahontas & John Smith: ???
Tarzan & Jane: vines
Roger Rabbit & Jessica: Hollywood/toons?
Simba & Nala: lions/jungle?
Pongo & Perdita: spots & dogs
Will & Elizabeth: pirates stuff

So, does anyone have any better suggestions? I am stuck! :confused3 My vision for the centerpieces is that they are simple, and keep guests wanting to look at all the tables. That way people are moving around and meeting other people from the other side of the family. I would greatly appreciate your help with ideas for each couple and something that is the same at each table. Our colors are purple (mulberry) & silver. Or maybe we should just do a simple mickey & minnie theme.

Thank you again! :)

There was a bride on here (figmentfan) that used Disney Snowglobes. I am sure you can find her PJ here. She got them at a great price at The Disney Store (the ones in the malls) they have sales going on alot or you can check the Disney Shopping website. Anyway, she put a snowglobe on each tables. I think if they were alittle small she had Disney floral put them on glass blocks. I believe she put votives around the table and flower petals.

There was another bride that I think used snowglobes and put them on boxes and covered the boxes with tulle and made the snowglobe look like it was sitting on a cloud. It would be great to put the snowglobe on a glass block, cover the block with tulle and put wireless lights in the glass block so it woud look like the cloud was glowing.

The snowglobe could be the thing that ties all your tables together and I am sure people would want to walk around and check out all the different ones.

I know snowglobes can get expensive (especially as you need 12 of them) but you can give them to the people in your bridal party at the end of the night as your gift to them or maybe to some special guests (Parents of bride, parents of groom, special aunt or uncle, your ring bearer and flowergirl, etc).

Keep checking everyones PJ, I am sure you will find something wonderful.

Linda

You can get small stuffed characters for each table. I saw that on a pj once that'd be great too

Here are some possible suggestions

Donald & Daisy: (aside from the obvious, Ducks... you could just use Daisies)

Pocahontas & John Smith:humming bird?

If you are trying to somehow tie them together you could do the floating candle idea. (All of your items would have to be waterproof, but you could put them at the bottom of a glass bowl(instead of beads, and have candles floating about them).

john smith- colrs of wind/leaves?

i think this would be a great idea. alot of fun also. i like the idea from above of doing similar but diffrent objects

cant wai tto hear more

you have some great ideas.... I like the different centerpieces, because that's what I plan on doing. I plan on using movies and then having a centerpiece tie into the movie......(hope that makes sense) Here is what I plan on using for my toy story table....this isn't the final product but close.... I want each table to have different colored linens(probably runners) that coordinate with the centerpieces too. good luck:goodvibes

:goodvibes Thank you. we are only have a small number of guest tables and then a sweet heart table. we picked movies that are favorites of our DDs and guests. we plan on using toy story, cinderella, potc and jungle book along with a sweet heart table. good luck with everything.:goodvibes

So I just got the idea to use movie posters in the centerpieces. Maybe find the posters online and print 8X11 or so versions, paste on a nice colored background and then on cardboard wrapped in paper. Then just incorporate a few things from each movie.

What do you all think?

Thanks again!

Update: So maybe I won't do 8X11 sizes. I didn't realize how difficult it is to find an image large enough and with a good quality. Maybe smaller images will be good!

i think the picture idea could be great (especially for those not so familiar with Disney movies- they might not get the subtle nods to the movies). You could always print a picture/ scene of the couple and use frosted paper and put the table number on the frosted paper. You could even incorporate this in the place cards or menus.

Ok, so I read this post and through several PJ's since I too am trying to be creative with centerpieces. I really like the snow globe idea, but it is expensive. Also, I am worried about it being windy at my at home reception since it will be in a pavillion and gazebo, so I have a fear of one of my pricey globes getting blown over and broken.

SOOO... that lead me to think of this great idea!! Piggy Banks!!!:thumbsup2
Disney has some really cute banks. They are a good size, and they are plastic, so they won't break. Plus you can get them new for around $15.00 and used on ebay starting as low as $2 or $3!!

I think that this is what we are going to use for ours. Maybe place them on top of a block with some flowers or decorations that match the theme of each bank.

Let us know what you come up with!! I can't wait to see it.

These are great!! I like a lot of color too! Plus these are fun and perfect for a Disney wedding.

We are also not having a wedding at Disney, or a Disney themed wedding for that matter- but we are having a Disney theme for our rehearsal dinner, so I am looking for centerpiece ideas also. Oh, and I am planning on a Tower of Terror replica grooms cake- I can't wait to see how it turns out!!!

Ok as I was laying in bed this morning, I came up with another, more simple idea. We are not having assigned tables, but I was thinking of doing small cards on each table with each movie name and clip art of the character couple. Then I am also thinking of doing an arrangement of 3 candles in the shape of Mickey... kind of a hidden Mickey thing! Then I would still include a few items that represent each movie. I just want my centepieces to be simple, and not tacky!

I do my best thinking at the strangest times!

First of all I have to thank you all for your ideas. padisneyfour's idea though is what set me off on my plan:

So I have made the cards for each movie using the Walt Disney font I downloaded last year. Each card has a background color that is one of the main colors for the movie, and I used a Disney clip art site to put 2 pictures on each card: one of the couple and another of a character or object significant in the movie. They turned out really good!
Yesterday my mom and I did a little shopping and we found these cool frosted candle plates (about 6" round) for (get this) $2 a piece! We got 14 to have some back-up plates.

So, the plan now is to get some simple photo holders to hold the cards. These holders will be placed in the middle of the plate. I will also place some objects that represent the characters on the plate around the card holder, and we will spread petals around the plate on the table. However, I will be using leaves for Pocahontas and spots for 101 Dalmatians.

Now I am not sure if I should spread the petals on the plates with the objects on top of the petals or not. I also bought a Mickey paper punch to make large Mickey confetti to spread on the tables. I think I am liking spreading petals on the plates better than around.

Luckily the decor for the head table is done!!! We will have our bride & groom silhouette they did for us at DL, toasting glasses, our bouquets, and bride & groom ears that I will be ordering to wear at our grand entrance to the reception (we are having the Mickey Mouse march played for our entrance). :thumbsup2

So what do you all think of this?

Oh and the idea for the hidden Mickey candle thing is scratched. It was too hard to find what I wanted!

Sounds like you have a plan- Woo HOO! congrats and have fun with them! I know I did when I was creating.....your idea sound great too! you will have to post a picture.:goodvibes

So here is what I have put together so far. Which idea do you like best? Also, what do you think of the ribbon? The type I would use would be smaller for sure, but that is all I had laying around that was close to our color. I will also be adding glass stones to the bottom of the vase in dark blues, purples, and some clear. The table cloths will be ivory. (the camera didn't capture how nice the carnations really looked, and the rose is more of a pink/purple/white)

My original idea with cardstock with Mickey cutouts (this one took a long time with the mickey scissors... not sure if it looks good)

Do you think I should sprinkle rose petals in our colors on the plate or around the plate? Something needs to break up all the glass. And do you think I should have the table card in the arrangement? (we are not having assigned seating) Should I add artifacts for each of the 12 couples I have picked on the table?

Please give any critiques. Thank you all for the help!

Fun idea! :thumbsup2 I love the table names. Here are some ideas...

If you want to break up the glass, maybe tie the purple bows and leave the ends long, so they can curl and cascade onto the tables or the candle plate thing. Maybe use battery operated tea lights on the candle plate thing ( I can't remember if you were going to use real candles), I think they would be beautiful with the purple ribbon and the stones in the bottom of the vases.

I like things a bit more simple, so I would probably want do the table names in black and white (mulberry and white? :) ) to tie all of the tables together. Maybe, the you could make the backgrounds purple/mulberry cardstock and do the character pictures and names on white. If you want a pop of color, you could still do the character pictures in color, and like you said, match the stones to the characters as well...

Just some ideas! I'm sure you'll love whatever you decide to use! :woohoo:

So we decided to not do the plates. It looks much better without them! We will probably also do a silver ribbon since we are having purple napkins to bring some extra color to the tables. The napkins, we found out, will be in the toasting flutes on the tables when the guests come in. I do like the idea of cascading ribbon though!
I am staying with the table cards, but not doing artifacts from each movie (too much money and difficulty). Instead at each table, we will have trivia for each movie, maybe 10 questions. They have to answer 8 of the 10 questions correctly to get us to kiss at their table when we come around. This will keep our guests entertained while we are finishing our pictures, and we will still tie in each Disney couple.

Thanks again for your ideas and help! Keep them coming please!:thumbsup2
