Do you think that FD will start 8/16?

I booked the bounceback FD offer last summer, it started 8/23. But with the new 4/3 offer extending into August, do you think that the FD will begin earlier. It would be nice! What do you think?

I can't imagine that they wouldnt, especially since they're sending out PINs like candy, and the 4/3 deal. They've had free Dining in September/Aug since we started going in 2006! Can't imagine they'd stop now. I could be wrong, though.

HAHA, on second though, hopefully there's a better offer. Not than you can beat free Dining!

I was thinking the same thing when I saw the 4/3 deal ending on the 15th. That's my prediction :)

Now that I think about it, it probably won't start until the 23rd if you can book the 4/3 up until the 15th - otherwise the packages would overlap. I was thinking the 4/3 would end the 15th, but that is the last day to book from my understanding.

Since Bounceback doesn't start that early, I would be surprised if Disney offered a General Public promotion for an earlier and longer period than the Bounceback..otherwise what is the incentive for booking a bounceback?

Where did you see that the 4/3 offer is extended into August?

No. It hasn't begun that early for the past 2 years. I tried to follow the history and found it begun earlier in 2006, so for 2007 I choose mid-August. No luck, the FD started the day I left to come home. I knew better in August 2008 and used my DVC points and glad I did, because FD started the end of August in 2008 (again). So they are not going to get my hopes up that FD will begin in mid-August. Our trip is August 16-21 and FD is not even a factor in planning this trip. They'll not get my hopes up again and squash them like in past years. We are using our DVC points for that trip.

No. I think it will start later, just as it has for the past three years.

Normally I would agree with this, but with the economy the way it is, I think Disney will do what they have to to sell rooms. The original dates for the bounceback were set months ago, they have to respond the the economy now.

That said, I don't think FD will start until the 23rd as I posted earlier...but then again, we got FD in December! Who can really predict at this point?

I just recieved a PIN for free dining starting the 16th, so yes, it will start early this year.

Historically, how busy is mid-August as opposed to late August? Does it make a difference? (Local kids go back to school the 24th, correct?)

What about weather? :scratchin Would mid-August be considered outside of hurricane season? Still as rainy? Hotter or not?

We are hoping to go during free dining this year.....we would love to go earlier in August rather than later unless there's a reason to defer the trip to the end of the month.

Our Ontario kids don't go back to school this year until September 8th so we have a little more flexibility.

Any help would be appreciated!! We have so many people who are discouraging us to travel to Florida during that time of year, but with free dining and the chance to have our son not miss any school, its either August or bust. We've already done one trip to Disney this year so we're working on more of a budget this time around.

We were there in August last year from the 9th to the 23rd. The weather was great the first week. Beautiful not to hot. Of course we did a lot of EMH at night so that helped. The second week was a bit rougher. TS Faye parked itself right over Orlando for the entire week. the rain was unbelieveable. But we put on our ponchos and slogged it out. It was actually a lot of fun, and since a lot of the wimpier people gave up we had some really short lines. We just walke on to EE.

The crowds were heavier the first week but the EMH really made a difference. MK was open two nights till 3am. We stayed late those nights and rode everything. Then hung out at the pool most of the next day. The second week the crowds were lighter. I expected that, but it was probably better because of the storm. All in all I'd do it again at that time.

Well I'll be the first to admit they got me this time. While I had no plans of free dining appearing during my planned trip I sure enough got the email with the free dining starting August 16th -- which is the day we are to arrive. Now I have to decide if we want to use the email or keep our DVC trip as planned. Not sure if this was a blessing or a curse.

I wish you could use the 40% pin code and then also apply the free dining on top. that would make me most pleased. :ccat:

I would love to get the Pin for free dining--it would save my family of 6 $145/ night! I have been trying to plan a trip before the kids go back to school, but unfortunately the school hasnt decided when they are going back in August. We usually start the last week of August on Tuesday and then get Friday and labor day off...but Labor day is so late this year I dont know when I can book our trip for... If it was August 16th this would be great--I am also hoping they are still planning free dining this year--does anyone remember them releasing pins for it last year? I don't remember this. I hope that doesnt mean they will extend the 4/3 deal instead and do pincodes only for free dining?
