Royal Me This, Royal Me That ~ Disney in December, How About That? *Update 6-1* P26

Ahhhh...my sweet, sweet Kitty Kat. (Or Bruce's sweet Kitty Kat but being that what's his is mine and what's mine is mine, er, I mean his, I figure I can use his pet name for you.)

Bruce's pet name for me makes me so happy.

Even that he has a pet name for me. Because that means I've been accepted into the Bruce family. Savvy? ;)

I am...

FULLY.
CAUGHT.
UP.

:woohoo:

First, thanks for the shout out:

Who's Puddy? It's Kronk all the way, baby.

I thought of you a lot on this trip. That was just the first one I talked about. Don't worry.

Our first phone call is coming up. :lmao:

Second, I know in our own conversations we've discussed the probability of your visiting the World again at Christmas time, but add to the list of "Trips to the World TK and Tink MUST Take Together" (Carp. Enough T's for ya?):

Truly, you have a dizzying intellect.

Either that our your amazing alliteration is astounding. ;)

Third, girl, thank you for getting your food, er, ART on. I'm hungry.

No problem. At least I had the courage and fortitude to stay true to the food art.

And finally, I'm really looking forward to the conclusion of the Chefs de France chapter. First, to see your food and second, to see if, as a pirate, anyone ended up screaming, "Man overboard!"

You know, the next time I'm in that type of a situation, I'm going to remember that.

Yell out a random pirate quote, and all will be good in my world. Perhaps embarassing for those I'm with, but who cares, it's vacation, right? :lmao:

Now, I know your son.
I've eaten with your son.
TWICE.
And I can vouch for TK when she says he's a normal boy of almost four, doing normal boy things, at a normal boy volume. Those other diners should be thankful Auntie Tink was not there. Disney Dining is not only for adults. I mean it's not like you were sitting at the Chef's Table at Victoria & Albert's for carp's sake. So those dirty looks you were getting? Mhmm. Auntie Tink's dirty looks have been known to make a cactus wither.

BRING IT.

Looking forward to more, babe. Sunday perhaps?

Aw, honey. Thank you. I think that HRH is a good boy, but it's nice to have it affirmed by an "outsider." Although you know you're far from an outside, I do recall how you and Missy were plotting ways to kidnap the boy, so he must have done somethin' right. :goodvibes

And yes. I'm planning to update soon. :thumbsup2

Why thank you all around TK. I have posted here before, and I read some of your other TR's and really enjoyed them. and I'm enjoying this one. :)

I would apologize for not realizing you posted before, but at least I've welcomed you three times! Therefore, you know, I'm very grateful to have you as a reader. :goodvibes

And thank you so much for the ego boosting compliments. It's nice to know that this little ditties of mine are enjoyed.

Alright, guys.

I'd like to pretend that I have some magical Disney epiphany and suddenly the skies parted, the heavens opened, and I was fine and happy and chipper.

But I just wasn't. :sad2: I think we've already established how hungry / cranky I was, and how the death stares from a nearby table were wearing on my very last nerve.

And the thing is, Chefs de France wasn't my pick. Mom, Nana, and I all agreed on the Brown Derby. Then I got to pick a restaurant, and they got to pick a restaurant for the trip, given that we had three nights. And we threw in a little breakfast buffet at the end. So Mom and Nana's pick is France. And they're very, very happy there. To their mind, it's one of the best non signature dining experiences on the property.

And to this, I humbly say, to each their own. I went because they wanted to. They wanted to show me Disney their way. Unfortunately, this night, I just wasn't feeling it. I wasn't feeling any of it. And when I looked at the menu. Oh lord. With my advancing (ha ha) age (I'll be turning ahem this year), I've developed a lovely little thing we like to call lactose intolerance. And I don't eat a lot of red meat.

I swear, it looked to me like that was the whole dang menu. And nothing was appealing to me. And when I get to that point, I know I'm just so hungry I can't make a decision anymore.

But I did have one thing that I really, really wanted. And that, was the escargot. Which is a lovely appetizer, and very difficult to find unless you're in a very nice restaurant. Chefs de France is undeniably a very nice restaurant.

And so without further ado, shall we dive into some food art?

Wait a minute.

There is none!

Well, except for this...

Nana2008-244-1.jpg

See, guys, I was so upset, I didn't even take pictures of the food. I can, however, tell you what we had.

My escargot was fantastic. Truly, it was the highlight of the meal for me. Now, we ordered a cheese plate for HRH, which came with cheese and I believe she added a bit more fruit to it at our request. If I recall correctly we had extra grapes, which is great for him. He loves cheese, grapes, and bread. With butter. Lots of butter. That photo of the bread is actually his cute little hand. While we were waiting for our food, I decided to give myself a break from the amazing staring wonders and head to the petite filles room. So it was no wonder to me when I came back that Mom and Nana had chosen my absence to appease the boy with bread and lots of butter. And he was doing so well, and behaving and I was so exhausted. I have in my notes that bread was great, so I must have really enjoyed it to have written it down.

My mother had the salmon tartar, which she loved. I don't have notes for Nana, I believe she also got the escargot. I could be wrong. I'll have to ask her and edit this.

I opted out of dinner. I just wasn't interested in anything on the menu and I wanted to have room for dessert. So I ended up finishing off the cheese plate. I know. I know. Lactose, and all. I didn't care. Mom and Nana got a smoked pumpkin soup which was wonderful. They both really enjoyed it, and we got HRH some sort of fish off the children's menu which he made a fairly decent dent in, for him.

Our desserts were chocolate ice cream for HRH, and sorbet for me. I ended up having to share. That boy loves sorbet.

I don't know who he gets it from. That and the love of butter. I mean, I just don't know anyone who used to eat just the butter out of the packet, no bread necessary, thank you very much, when they were little. Certainly not me. ;)

I remember seeing some good things during that meal. I believe, eventually, I was able to look at my little boy and realize just how good he was being, and let the rest go.

But until that point, and to avoid the death stares, I spent the majority of my meal looking out the window, and pointing out things to HRH. And as I looked out the window, I saw Pere Noel several times. We also saw Beauty and the Beast, and Aurora coming out to do meet and greets. Mom and I remarked on how beautiful the princesses' cloaks were. When it's cold outside, they wear these gorgeous cloaks that match their costumes and it's just lovely to see.

I won't lie.

I was glad when dinner was over. I mean, eventually, the staring people left, but not soon enough, you know? They were there for the majority of our meal, and it just irked me. I wish I could have been better. I tried so hard for Mom and Nana, I really did. But I was just done. D-U-N, done. ::yes::

Mom and Nana still had to settle the check, and I decided to get HRH outside and loaded into his stroller.

Man was it cold when I went outside. :scared: With the sun down we'd lost any semblance of heat we'd had that day, and I was freezing! It was time to break out the lovely fleece I had of my husband's. And further more, it was time to call my husband. If I thought I missed him before, I certainly did then.

I talked to DH for a long time. A LONG time. So long, as a matter of fact, that I looked at my phone and discovered we'd been talking for a good twenty minutes! Holy cabooses. Where the heck were Mom and Nana?

I didn't want to take HRH out of the stroller after getting him all bundled. I didn't want to stand there in the freezing cold.

I felt mutinous. pirate:

Up next - Where does TK go when she's feeling mutinous?

Oh TK---This is going to sound so crazy, but I can't wait for this day to end for you. I know it has had some wonderfully rich and rewarding moments, but I can just feel your anxiety coming through your recount of the day/evening, and I am just hoping that you all get doused with a huge dose of Disney magic to help rectify this crazy and perplexing afternoon for you!!!

BTW---I just looked down and noticed your ticker says exactly 8 months until you are back!!! YEAH!

Oh TK!!! I'm sorry dinner wasn't all you would have liked it to be!! I'm glad that HRH seemed to enjoy himself!!

So I can't wait to see what one does when they feel mutinous and I'm hoping you have a better day the next day!!!!

Can't wait to hear more!!!

You know, TK, in some perverse way, I am glad that nothing appealed to you on the menu, really. I keep looking at that menu and every single time I fail to see anything that floats my boat. Some days I think I am sadly lacking in gourmet tastes.

I am sorry that dinner was such a disaster for you. I am with MegansMom, I hope this day ends for you soon, because I can feel your anxiety level and tiredness. You need your slippers on and a good night's sleep. :grouphug:

Gosh...I am sorry you didn't enjoy dinner! And I am so glad you are comfortable enough with all of us to tell us about your bad stuff, too!!

But, I have to say...the ZZUB moment...the hand...was worth your crazy day...for me! :)

What a cute, sweet, little hand! :)

And on to a better day! Or some mutinay! pirate:

So greatful, you'd be willing share a bit of that very lonely looking bottle of rum then? ;)

Another mutiny???? :faint:

Just kidding... I would have been right there with you, I'm sure. And what is up with the cold in FL?? :confused3

I have the same concerns about the dinner menu at Chefs. But I love, loved, loved the "french menu" for lunch-- onion soup, croque monsieur sandwich and creme brulee. YUM-O!

Oh and :rotfl2: for "whoever" it was who used to eat butter out of the packet!!! ;)

I think these past two posts have been the hardest for me to write.

Unfortunately, I do know that there's a turn of events later in the trip that's going to be worse. But I think I had a better attitude. For the most part. :lmao:

BTW---I just looked down and noticed your ticker says exactly 8 months until you are back!!! YEAH!

Amazing, isn't it? It seems so far away.

Thank you, hon. You know, I think everybody had a good time but me. I felt like such a stick in the mud.

You know, I felt badly about not liking the menu because so many people rave about Chefs. On the boards, and Mom and Nana, you know?

Glad to hear I have a comrade! :thumbsup2

I so needed my slippers and a good night's sleep.

Whether or not I got either of those remains to be seen. :lmao:

Gosh...I am sorry you didn't enjoy dinner! And I am so glad you are comfortable enough with all of us to tell us about your bad stuff, too!!

It's hard to write the bad stuff, but that's life. I think I would be doing everyone a great disservice if I glossed over it, you know? And even though it's been painful for me to relive this particular part of the day, if I can benefit someone else at all, it's worth it.

But, I have to say...the ZZUB moment...the hand...was worth your crazy day...for me! :)

What a cute, sweet, little hand! :)

I didn't even think of it as a ZZUB moment, that's so funny!

So greatful, you'd be willing share a bit of that very lonely looking bottle of rum then? ;)

Hmph.

If I were feeling Sparrow-esque, I'd tell you to get your own rum, mate.

However, being the generous TK, I feel rum is best when shared. So join me! pirate:

Another mutiny???? :faint:

There may have been more.

Just sayin'.

Just kidding... I would have been right there with you, I'm sure. And what is up with the cold in FL?? :confused3

Don't get me wrong. I used to go all the time in January, so I get it. But this was really, really cold. And windy. And that's what does it. The wind.

I have the same concerns about the dinner menu at Chefs. But I love, loved, loved the "french menu" for lunch-- onion soup, croque monsieur sandwich and creme brulee. YUM-O!

You know, I've actually thought lunch looks more appealing there, but I'm just not prepared to try that restaurant again any time in the near future. I think I actually tried to talk Mom and Nana into lunch, but given it was their choice, I got veteod. I believe there was something on the dinner menu they wanted.

Oh and :rotfl2: for "whoever" it was who used to eat butter out of the packet!!! ;)

I plead the fifth. :lmao:

If I didn't write about the bad stuff my TR would be done by now! :rotfl2:

Re: Butter......at least you had the manners to eat the packet ones.....I used to just run my finger across the stick of butter!

My dd would live off of bread, butter, fruit and veggies if I let her. We had to start hiding the butter dish as she will just reach in with a spoon and eat the butter if she can reach it. :rotfl2:

I know I have a friend in you, my dear. :lmao:

Isn't it amazing the things we used eat as kids?

Oh, that's too funny! Well, at least I know I'm not the only one.

(I'll be turning ahem this year)

Hmmmm.
Apparently I missed something in pre-school.
One, two, three, ahem?

My escargot was fantastic.

Is it wrong that I feel badly for the snails?
Because, I mean, I didn't feel badly for the cows when we ate at Citricos.
But, that's probably because my beef doesn't come from cows.
It comes from a happy place.
I'm sure, if we ever have dinner together and it's red meat and my loving other half is present, he will advise you of this.
Complete with eye roll.

Where does TK go when she's feeling mutinous?

Kohls?
Target?
Tortuga?

Kohls?
Target?
Tortuga?

I bet there's rum where ever she goes. ESPECIALLY when she's feeling mutinous. .......

Wait.... she a pirate right? Is she not Captain of her own ship? If she is, then how can she mutiny? And if she's not, she's still a pirate, so mutiny is expected right?

I'll have to ask Captains Sparrow, and Morgan and see what they have to say about this ;)

Yeah. That's it. Just ask DS, he's in preschool. ;)

Oh, dear sweet lord. You don't feel badly for one of the most disgusting, ugliest looking creatures on earth, but that beautiful big eyed, sweet harmless cow that never did anything to you?

Oh, right, the beef comes from a happy place.

I'm with Bruce on this one. :rolleyes2

:rotfl2:

Target?
Tortuga?

Why not all three! :lmao:

Dude.

I am SO the Captain.

Except when I'm traveling with Mom and Nana. Savvy? :lmao:

Disclaimer: Guys, I'm having a really hard time with photobucket for some reason, and can't upload any photos. But not wanting to completely forgo the Sunday update routine I have here, I'm going to post this chapter anyway. Hopefully I can get the photo thing figured out soon.

Well, I was cold and I needed to get moving! After I hung up with DH, I tried to call Mom and Nana, but neither picked up, so I'm assuming they couldn't hear their cell phones.

Well, I knew that if I was going to break away, I could do it now and I actually had a good reason. I know that for the most part, it looks like I'm ditching the ladies. But in all actuality, I knew that with us staying at the Yacht Club, and being that France is so close to the International Gateway, and given how cold it was that evening, I figured they'd be heading back to the hotel.

And I had a free picture to pick up, people.

A 5x7 to be exact. So not wanting them to make that cold walk with me, I decided to do it by myself. With HRH. You know what I mean. Plus I needed to get a good power walk going and create some heat!

And then I realized, once I warmed up (around Canada) that I could take a little bit of time. As a matter of fact, I realized that I could actually :::gasp::: enjoy myself. Just me and HRH. I'd stolen a moment and I was going to make the most of it.

Now despite the fact that we'd just "eaten" dinner, HRH still had his cart radar going in full swing. Well, I'm not totally heartless. So when we stopped in Canada, and he spotted the popcorn cart, I thought why the heck not? I'm a sucker for those collectible containers, and this one was so cute with the characters in holiday garb. Plus, they make great storage containers for smaller toys / matchbox cars when you get home. Just a little justifiable tip for you there.

So HRH had some popcorn, and he was happy as clam, holding his souvenir bucket and just munching away. Which meant that I could take my time. Enjoy myself. And perhaps even partake in some photo opportunities, savvy?

So you know what else is at the front of the park besides the camera place, right?

That big round ball? Spaceship Earth?

Well, guess what. That ride had no line.

I think it took me all of five seconds to get over my internal conflict over actually going on a ride without Mom and Nana and just me and HRH by ourselves before I had him unbuckled and told him we were going on a ride.

We walked right on, no problems. I was feeling confident. Sassy. Pirate. pirate:

And we boarded.

And started our journey.

And then stopped.

And waited. On an incline. And watched cast members with flashlights go up the stairs, having no idea exactly what was wrong with the ride. All the while being told by the happy automated voice to remain in our ride vehicles as it could resume at any time.

And I thought, that's karma. That's what I get for being all pirate. :lmao:

But pretty soon, we were on our way. And I had the presence of mind to select English before HRH could get his little hands on that touch screen, so we got to enjoy a ride. Just me and him. And he was so good for me.

Honestly, some of my best (and worst ha ha) moments on the trip were just me and him. It was really, really nice. I relished in it. I thought of Tink. I thought of all my reservations in taking this trip, all the reasons I'd talked about that didn't make it to public knowledge on the boards. And I remember us talking about moments like these. When it would be just me and my boy. And I'm glad that I created that moment for myself. Even if it meant mutiny.

After we got off the ride, I got HRH all snuggled back up in his stroller, with his souvenir bucket of popcorn, and he was happy as a clam again. He was quite good for me while I took my time picking out my 5x7. I didn't choose one with him in it. I chose one with just me, and the three characters. The theory being that I had the pictures with him on my camera.

And also?

I felt I earned that photo. ::yes::

I enjoyed a leisurely stroll back through Epcot, and got to watch the lights timed to music on that bridge that connects Future World with the World Showcase. And that was nice to see. Mom finally got ahold of me, and wanted to know how quickly I could get back to the Yacht Club because Mickey and Minnie in holiday garb were doing a meet and greet in the lobby.

I was in no mood to run, and they were only there for another 15-20 minutes. Given where I was in the park at the time, there was just no way it was going to happen. But I told her I would meet them in the lobby anyway, and explained I'd gone to get my photo.

I took some pictures on the way back to the hotel.

I had very few thoughts as I wandered back to the room. HRH was still awake, so I had to talk him into stopping to take photos. One of my happy thoughts was to get him and me ready for bed. :thumbsup2

Once I reached the Yacht Club, I believe Mom and Nana had already headed back to the room. So I started in that general direction.

And got stopped abruptly in the hallway.
