Dinner On First Night?

I'm slowly planning our first trip, thanks to all of the excellent advice I've found here! I think you guys independently keep Disney running, hehe!

I just have a question. We are driving and will probably arrive in the early afternoon on June 1. So far, I have CM scheduled for an 11:20 breakfast on June 2nd. I have CRT scheduled for breakfast on June 3rd at 10:35, and I'm hoping to get an early BBB reservation that day.

I'm trying to decide if I should do a regular dinner on the night we get there (June 1st) or a character meal. Since it's our first trip, I think that a character meal on the first day would really psych our 4 year old up. But which one?! I do want to eat at Ohana, but she's not AS into Lilo & Stitch as she is other characters.. so I'd rather save that for later in the trip.

Which character meal would you recommend for our first dinner ever on the first day of our first Disney trip ever? :O)

I would actually suggest doing Chef Mickeys for dinner on your arrival night. We have done this several times when our kids were a little younger and it was really a great way to kick off the vacation.

They get to see all their favorite characters immediately, the monorail is going overhead in the hotel....you can even hop on and take a ride, and you could even go up to the top to see the castle lit up at night or even hear wishes that gets piped in if you are there at that time.

Have an awesome first trip. You will be planning your second one before you come home, I bet.

Oh wait...that was me.

Since you already have CM planned, I would suggest Crystal Palace at the Magic Kingdom with Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet. However, this means you have to plan on going to the park that day. There are no character meals outside of the parks for dinner.

My 4 and 6 year old daughters loved 1900 Park Fare (The Cinderella's Gala Feast Dinner is hosted by Cinderella, Prince Charming, Lady Tremaine, and Anastasia and Drisella ) at the Grand Floridian Resort. But you are already doing CRT two days later so i would say go with The Crystal Palace (features Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet). By the way Ohana's is a character meal for breakfast only.

Hope This Helps

I think you should do Chef Mickey's on your first night and switch the bkfast CM to perhaps Crystal Palace bkfast or lunch the day you are at MK! We all loved Crystal Palace as well as Chef Mickey's!

enjoy

Crystal Palace for dinner that first night is my suggestion. We did this on our first ever trip in June 2007. It was such a memorable meal and awesome experience. My son (then 10, now 12 and who likes to act like he is super cool) INSISTS that we go to CP again this time - he loves the characters! So, we are going to go for breakfast there since we want the experience of "being in the park before anyone it's open".

the only problem w/CP on the first night you mean you have to spend a ticket on going into the parks...i also Love CP, but if you don't want to go into a park then do CM

Thank you so much everyone!!

Maybe we'll switch CM to that night!

And thank you for reminding me about CP.. I forgot about that one. We can do that the second day we're there since we'll definitely be at the MK! Once this little girly sees the castle, they'll be no way out of there :O).

Off topic, but can someone tell me more about going in the castle? Can you just do that anytime?

And while I'm off topic (haha!), can someone give me some more information on Wishes, or a link? I'm assuming it's fireworks or music? I could be totally wrong.. I'm slowly learning!! I really have no clue!

That's a good point about using up the park ticket. We have 5 day tickets and 5 day water park tickets, so I'm not sure that I want to do that. Hmm.. I may need some help figuring that one out. I'm a little lost now! When you go to DTD, does that use up the ticket, too?

OR.. we could do counter service or eat somewhere at the Poly that night and save our credits for CRT. I still plan to have a lot of Disney surprises 'show up' in the room for her ;o). But it WOULD be nice to have a character dinner to look forward to after the long drive there!

I'm just trying to make this trip as magical as possible for her :O). She's at the perfect age to LOVE everything and still believe in it. I'm just loving planning it all!

I changed CM to our first night instead, at 7:35! Hopefully we can do a late breakfast at CP the next day :O).
