Hi!
So, the story is, I got the dress before I've booked the location (it's tentatively the WP for January 2010, but I can't get it officially till May). This is for a 10 year vow renewal (escape), just us and our kids. I actually found it at davids bridal, I went just looking to try out different styles to see what suited my body type (not planning to buy at all!)... but they had this dress in red- let me clarify, one dress, the last one, in my size- but it actually had to be shipped to me sight unseen from another store 3 states away... so I was guessing based on wearing the white one (which looked not great on me, it's not my color!)... and it's discontinued and on clearance... less than 350 bucks... and well, I just couldn't say no! It was exactly what I was trying to find (red gown, pick ups, jewels)... and figured I'd sell it on ebay if I hated it once it arrived.

I was a little disappointed I was already done gown shopping before I started, LOL! But when it came, and I tried it on, I just loved it.

I'm wondering what you think of this dress for a disney vow renewal, and what location it would look best in. My husband thinks it wouldn't like right by the boardwalk, or lodge. I've been debating SBP, and WP... but if we did wishes I'm sure I'd do Italy (sigh...)! So I'm compromising with the Italy photoshoot:) But maybe you think another location than these two would be good... ideas??? And any thoughts on hair (up, down, hair up, tiara, etc.) would be lovely! My hair is really long, you can't tell in these photos, but it's definitely the lower half of my back, but stick straight.
Thank you!!

great dress!!!! So galmorous! What a deal huh?

I think the WP would be great, I am having mine there (hopefully) in Feb 2010 :) You are so lucky to have hair that is long enough to do anything with, the pics where you had it up look so princessy and classic, but it would look great mybe 1/2 up too! Kepp us posted with what you decide :yay:

I love that dress - esp. with your hair down. With it up, the dress loses something for me. It's not as romantic or something. The dress is such a statement on its own - I wouldn't go overboard with jewelry or anything.

But you look stunning!! :thumbsup2

I think the dress would look beautiful at the wilderness lodge location, but anywhere it would look great, it really works for you.
I'm a hairstylist, so my advice on the hair comes from a little different point of view, but I would go with it up. I had long hair for years and while we love showing off our length, if you really want it to hold up for the day, I would highly recommend putting it up where it is secure. :scratchin

Thank you! It is glamorous, and was definitely a steal at the price. And for a vow renewal I think it's just perfect... but like I said, I'm having a hard time picturing it. WP is definitely my DH's favorite location, and because of that, I think it's likely what we'll end up with.

I didn't post a pic, but I had one where it was half up and half down and that was by far my favorite style- the trouble is my hair is SO straight, I don't think it'd hold body for much of the day.

I'm actually thinking maybe I could leave it down for some pictures (like my photo shoots in the morning, or the fireworks in the evening), and then do it up or half up for the ceremony. Because it's just us and our, I would have plenty of time to play with it in between some of those times. I'd just have to figure out with the hair spray, my guess is I'd have to do it down first, because down later would be a disaster... Maybe down, then half up down, and then all up for the fireworks, LOL!

Thanks so much for your feedback!

Thank you! I really need the positive feedback cause I've been freaking out a little about it honestly! I really want to look so beautiful that day. Funny, but I'm much more concerned about it this time around than I was on our wedding day! That was why I wanted red, he has always loved me in red, and it felt so romantic.

Thank you for the jewelry comment- I know, the lady at the store was really trying to hype up the jewels, and I sorta thought the same as you, I liked it romantic and letting the dress make the statement.

Knowing that, I'm really interested in making some small statements with extras- I was thinking of a hidden mickey, or really cool shoes or a hairpiece (I love the idea of glass slippers and a choker like cinderella, but so far I've not seen anything I liked!)... I'm hoping if I keep lurking here I'll find some good ideas for that!

Oh thank you! Yes- I had similar thoughts living with this hair for so long... I curl it, and spray it to death, and it's not 2 hours later it's completely fallen out and you can't even tell I did something to it! What do you think of my idea of maybe doing that for a morning photo shoot to have some shots with length, and then doing it all up, or half up for the ceremony, and all up for the rest of the day? I'm actually really hoping to do my hair myself, but if I can't do the up-do myself, I could certainly have someone come for that part of the day to do it up. I've a friend that's a hair dresser, and she was going to work with me before I went on showing me how to do it myself- everytime I've had it done by someone else I didn't like it and that worries me more than me messing it up, LOL!

Do you have a recommendation on what would look good with the dress- ie, some jewels in the hair... a tiara... a band... flowers, nothing, etc?

Thank you!

You look great in red!!! I love the dress. Its so regal. I think its perfect for Disney!

First of all - I just love the red dress. I am sure it would look good anywhere. As far as your hair goes, I like the half up half down version. I did a hair trial in May before my November wedding and decided on this version. My hair is also straight. Here are some photos of me getting my hair and makeup done so you can see how much Ana curled my hair - she actually straightened it before curling it.

I was in white but my girls were in red. Here is a photo of them in Italy near our ceremony site.

Red definately looks great in Italy and I think doing a photoshoot there is a wonderful idea. Your red dress will really pop.

The Dress is STUNNINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
Why not use white roses for the wedding to spruce up the white if you want... I say stick to the red dress. I wanted blue...oops

I would stick with the red, its fab.

I had pink and got married at the wp last year, again any location would look great

Thank you - I LOVE the pictures in Italy, thank you so much for sharing them all so I could see the red in that location. Your hair (and the rest of you!) looks perfect- who is Ana- could you tell me more about her? Did she do your makeup too? I've not really thought that far yet! Your wedding looks so beautiful!! Thanks!!

That dress is stunning! It was def made for you! I am sure I couldnt pull it off! lol. I think that it will look great at any of the locations, just pick the one you like the best and get the flowers and decor to compliment it.

Hair down!

ANd BTW, in jan they willl still have all of the holiday decor up I think, so the red will match a lot of locations decor. I think the Wilderness Lodge would be beautiful!

The Ana I used was Ana from beaute speciale. She was wonderful. She came with one of her associates Lily and both worked on my hair and makeup. She also did a blow out on one of my girls who came to my room with her hair freshly washed and Ana blew out her hair. I would recommend Ana and Lily.

Oh thank you, that's very sweet to say!!:)

I'm going to revise my original thinking and say that Linda's hair (being half up and half down) would work with the dress. :) I still like it down the best, but I completely understand about stick straight hair. I have that problem - I have no idea what I'm going to do with my hair for the wedding!! It refuses to hold any sort of curl.

I would def. start looking for shoes and a tiara. You could definitely go with a necklace, but nothing huge. :thumbsup2
