February Magical Family Adventures!!~ LAST DAY!! (6/5)

:rotfl:
That's the way you put momma in her place. :rotfl:

It's not fun when you see that fire light on during flight either. I had that happen on my birthday over 11 years ago. That is a flight I'll never forget. :scared:

:rotfl:
I bet not!!
DH sometimes talks about the flight home during Hurricane Andrew. He was among the last crew to fly in. Sounds like something I never want to do! :scared:

Just got caught up on your PTR! Hope you all have a great time! Can't wait to start my PTR for Dec 09!
:welcome:
I can't wait to leave!!
You should start one soon. We are looking at doing a December trip too. But it may not be until 2010.

Just wanted to say I'm still here reading, but in an effort to actually keep up with all my threads I'm not posting as much... it's a vicious circle these here DIS boards LOL.

No worries! I know exactly what you mean and that's sort of what I'm doing now too. :rotfl2: Sometimes i have more time to read and less to post. But I'm still around!!

That's it...you've inspired me. pixiedust:
I've started mine...:)

HOORAY!!! :cheer2:

I'm off to check it out.............

Ok, I have come up with some idea's for souvenirs for DS's classmates. The best one being PRESSED PENNY'S!! :thumbsup2 What I'm planning is to get with the teacher to explain about the pressed penny machine and send a note home with each child to bring a penny to school. (it won't matter if everyone does or not, I will still get enough for everyone) This is mostly just to get them feeling like they are involved. Then I will take a short video of DS smashing a penny at WDW and email it to the teacher. This will get them all excited for when we get back. Then DS gets to hand out the penny's when he get's back to school.

I have other small souvie idea's such as Disney suckers or maybe Mickey straws. Once we saw some mickey head straws for $0.50/each. Can't remember where but if I see them again, they are going in my shopping bag!!

So, I need 17 pressed penny's. The machine costs 50 cents. So 51 cents X 17 kids is $8.67 and that, my friends will be the cheapest set of souvenirs I've ever bought! :thumbsup2

Anyhoo.....On to what I need YOUR help with...... I wanted to do something special for DS's class while we are there. Something to put them INSIDE the magic!! He is in Pre-K and the kids are 4 & 5 years old. The only thing I can think of is making a sign that say's "HI MRS. SO & SO's CLASS" and have either just the characters hold it for a picture or have DS hold it with the characters for a picture. Then email the picture to the class as a surprise.

I'm trying to think of something along these lines but maybe better. :confused3 I just can't think of anything. Taking pictures with Flat Jordan last trip was so much fun but I can't very well tour with 17 Flat Kids. DH would kill me if I even tried. :lmao:

So, do you have any better idea's??? I like the sign idea, I would just like something better if we can think of something. :scratchin

Isn't there somewhere at Epcot that you can send live pix e mails !! Also a thought do you think thay would let you make 17 Robots ,they are free!!!:rotfl2: In Japan I saw them writing kids names in Japanese again 17 is pushing it :lmao: but maybe they would do his teachers name and class !!:thumbsup2

I might check in to the robot thing. I've never seen it before. Although I'm sure you are right... 17 is probably pushing it. I have idea's for gifts. I just am stumped on how to get them INSIDE the magic while we are there. To where they feel like they are participating with us. I will have my laptop so I can send pictures to the teacher any time. I'm just trying to think of a clever picture to take or something. Or a series of pictures. :confused3 :scratchin

Maybe take a class picture and blow it up like the flat, this way its only one flat not 17. LOL. I think you can find the straws at food courts neat the registers!

pressed pennies is a great idea!!

can you go to imagination pavillion and send them a postcard?

The Robots are at one of the Innoventios not sure which one !!

If you do the pictures, you could take one in each park. Would it be too much to go with 4 different signs, one per park, and have the ds pose with the the sign and the characters? Then you could send one each couple of days. Maybe you could make them each say something different, specific to the park you are in? The last one, right before you leave, could say "See ya real soon" to play off of the Disney saying. You could also do a couple pictures per day...one with a sign and message and one that is just the main symbol of the park, like the castle, or the ball, etc. Just a thought. I teach high school, not the little ones, so I'm not always great with the creative stuff!

:rotfl2: I was thinking of that. Scott suggested that too. I talked to his teacher this morning, will do an update in just a sec...

thanks about the straws! :thumbsup2 I will be on the lookout.

I got that idea on an OLD post when I was doing a search. I thought it was a pretty good idea too.

I think I can. I think we can send funny email cards when we exit the figment ride too.

Very cool! Thanks! :wave2:

This is a good idea too. Thanks!!
I think DH would strangle me if I packed 4-5 different signs. :rotfl2:
I think I will make one that says "see ya real soon". I like that idea. Thanks!

About to do an update.................

I talked to DS's teacher this morning and ran the pressed penny idea by her. She LOVED IT. So she is going to talk to them about the penny machine and have them bring a penny to school to send to WDW with us. (if they don't that's fine, I'm going to do one for everybody anyway) The point is that this helps them feel involved if they bring their own penny. :thumbsup2

Ok on to the sign ideas........ I also talked to his teacher about maybe doing a class project and letting them make a sign in class. That way...once again... they are involved in the "magic", because THEIR sign will be traveling with us. I can also get the characters to autograph the sign and they can hang it up in the classroom afterwards. :thumbsup2

I may also create a sign here at home that says "see ya real soon!" for a last picture right before we leave WDW. (thanks kristinanne for that idea!) We can email that to them and get them excited for Monday when DS goes to school with all the "goodies".

You are such a good mom. I think your ideas are awesome. I need to do something for Brennan's class.

I think it's so cool that you're doing that. :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

Wow Cherie! Great ideas!:thumbsup2

Awww, thanks you guys!! :goodvibes

I can't take all the credit. I found the penny idea on a different board or forum somewhere. Glad I found it, though. It's such an obvious thing and such a good idea. I doubt I would have thought of it.

As for the sign, I just really love being involved with DS's class. I had the opportunity to "shaddow" him the first 2 weeks of school. This gave me the opportunity to get to know all the kids. Now I'm there almost every day volunteering for one thing or another so they know me well too. I'm glad I can do something fun for them with DS.

wow....you are getting close now...2 more weeks:cool1: :cool1:

having the class make a sign is an awesome idea!!!

Yep! 2 weeks from today, DH will be driving that race car and we will be getting ready for our 1st day in the parks the next day! :cool1:

The room mom for DS's class is having to go out of state for her daughter's surgery. She has cerebral palsy and is having problems breathing due to her tonsils. She will have to have them out but it's not as simple as it would be for you or me. She will have to be watched closely and they will have to stay there all week. Sadly our hospitals/Doctors here are not equipped enough to deal with such a situation.

It is "appreciation week" this week at school. I told her that I will help her or take over for her since she has enough to worry about right now. She has turned over all the stuff to me. Which is fine, but where is the help from other moms?? There is something planned for every single day. Monday is Teacher's appreciation, Tuesday is lunch lady & custodial, Wednesday is secretaries, Thursday is parent's appreciation but also a big church day because our school is celebrating 50 years. I am helping the teacher keep the 4 year olds calm in church. PLUS, that afternoon the teachers play the 8th graders in a game of volleyball. I am in charge of watching DS's class during that time. Friday is student appreciation so the teachers are doing something for the students but something tells me that it still won't be a free day for me. I've spent all weekend preparing gifts and deserts for this week and I'm still not finished. ALL I WANT TO DO IS PACK OUR SUITCASES!!!

Seriously, I love this stuff and being involved. It's just SO CLOSE to our trip!! Guess I'll be packing a little each time i have a semi-break. :mickey b:

Ok I'm going to start trying to do a picture a day on here. Even if I don't have time to type a full update. I will call it "on this day". So here we go:

On this day 2 weeks from now, I will be having a Lapu Lapu and hopefully getting to meet some great people!
Here is a couple of pic's from past trips:
A meet....
