Spinning on Cat in The Hat?

I know the couch you ride on in Cat in the Hat spins based on videos I have seen of the ride. I thought I remember reading years ago on another board there is a way to turn off the spinning by asking one of the ride ops. Is that true and if so do you just tell them when you are boarding the ride?

There are some people in my family that can not tolerate spinning at all even if it is slow and I'd hate for them to miss this ride since it is one of the few rides at IoA they could actually ride.

They do not turn off the spinning anymore. They did do that years ago but it cut down on the load capacity so it was discontinued.

if the spinning is an issue for anyone, i suggest you look down at your feet during the short time the ride spins.

it helps you stay focussed and not get dizzy.

That's going to be a tough one if they can't take even a little bit of spinning. CITH spins a lot but it's a lot of fun.

I don't like rides that spin and didn't know Cat in the Hat spun guests. It really made me ill afterwards:p

It definitely does spin a lot! I really enjoyed the ride, although I tucked my sunglasses in my top, thinking it's a kid ride, they'll be fine. Nope, out they flew during a spin, I was gutted, it was only about day 2 and I had no sunglasses - fortunately I only buy cheap ones!! :rotfl:

We forgot about the spinning and there my lovely daughter was taking pics of her and me--using my camera. I just reached for it saying you need to put the strap on.

Luckily I had a good enough grip--or should I say lucky for her.:upsidedow

for a "kids" ride the Cat in The Hat spins you with authority:scared:

It must have increased the load capacity, now a lot of people can't ride it. lol This is one thing I wish IOA would change back. I used to be able to ride this with my young dd when they would turn off the spinning. Now that they won't to turn it off, I just can't ride.

That's a shame to hear though I am glad to know ahead of time, I guess they aren't even going to try it because a park at home (Hersheypark) has a shooting dark ride that does 1 or 2 slow spins when the ride starts and that is too much for them so I think spinning on Cat in the Hat is going to be a problem. Looks like the only ride for them in the whole park is going to be the Seuss Trolley Ride.

So compare it to something like the Mad Hatter Tea Party or Storm Force as far as the spinning? My mom can handle a little bit but if it is like them at all I think she might be holding the bags haha.

No...it's not as bad as either one of those rides.
