Kidani in August 2009

Hi Everyone,
We are taking our 2 kids aged 3 and 6 and my parents to WDW with us next August. They have stayed at Vero and BCV and are really keen to try AKV or THV.

So we are planning on booking AKV then switching a few nights to THV on Feb 8 when booking commences. Our points are SSR points so i can book Kidani at 7 months which is tomorrow if we want to arrive on 12 August.

I am hoping for a 2 bed lock off Savanna view at Kidani for 7 nights. Is this likely to be a really tough ressie to get? Not sure what i will do if MS says one or two nights are unavailable- book elsewhere? waitlist?

Anyway, anyone who has tried to book Aug at Kidani recently please share your experiences if you can.

I own at SSR, and wanted to move for my vacation starting Aug 9. AKV was my first choice, but I had them all ranked in case I couldn't get AKV.

Called at 6:40 am (9:40 Florida time). I was on hold due to "volume" for 17 minutes. No problem at all to book a 1 BR at Kidani Village.

8:30 am (11:30 Florida time), I decided we need to upgrade to a 2 BR just in case anybody wants to come with us... Hold time was just over 20 minutes, but I had no problem booking a dedicated 2 BR.

Good luck! I was expecting it to be difficult, so I was pleasantly surprised. I'll say (and jinx myself) that every time I've called at the 7-month window I've gotten what I wanted.

A couple of nights were missing from the middle of mt stay but they came up a couple of days later. I now have 7 nights, Savanna view in a 2 bed lock off at Kidani!!!! Yay!!!!!

I called MS on Friday @ 9am and got through immediately, although there was some technical issues which slowed my confirmation # from coming up.
Unfortunately the 2BR SV and the GV in Kidani I had requested for 8-17 to 8-23 had no availability. I am on the WL for the 2BR. I was told by MS that as of Friday there were standard views available for the 2BR. This is the first time I have not gotten my first choice at the 7mo. window. I heard that some sections of Kidani will not open until September, so I think this might add to the problem. It could also be that everyone wants to stay at a newer DVC resort. On the other hand, there were no standard views available at BWV either where as 3 years ago I called right at the 7 month window and was able to get a standard view - not sure what is going on?????

I wanted a savannah view studio at Kidani for 16th-20th Aug but it wasn't available for the first 2 nights. So I have booked a standard view for those nights and a savannah for the other nights. I have also waitlisted for a savannah for the 16th-17th. I have no idea if that is likely to come through or not.

I haven't had any trouble with any of the other resorts we wanted, just Kidani.

I would call back in a day or two Leanne. My WL didn't show up as available on the member website but when I called they did have the nights and added them on there and then. I think sometimes a polite call enquiring about your WL helps!
