Has anyone been on the Trunk Bay Beach & Snorkel Tour or the St. John Barefoot Sail & Snorkel? I know we want to do some snorkeling, but we also want beach time. Can anyone tell me how you enjoyed either of these, and also, how much beach time you go on the Barefoot Sail? Thanks!

. . . . I would do it on your own! You can do it much cheaper and have more time at the beach than the excursion allows. I did Trunk Bay on my trip over Thanksgiving.

Once you get off the ship take a taxi to RedHook, from there take a ferry to St. John then a taxi to Trunk Bay.
Taxi to Red Hook $7.00pp
Ferry to St. John $14.00pp (round trip)
Taxi to Trunk Bay $7.00pp
Entrance Fee to Trunk Bay $4.00 pp

Trunk bay is BEAUTIFUL I think the snorkling and the water color is as good if not better than Castaway Cay.

There is a small snack bar and shop at the beach as well as showers. You can bring your own snorkle gear or rent it there. We brought our own so I don't know about prices)

I think there maybe a ferry closer to where the ship docks but it's a longer journey on that ferry.

We had plenty of time to do all that, go back to ship afterwards and then take the skyride up to Paradise Point and have a drink while overlooking the harbor!

I have great pictures if you are interested.

happy sailing!

Would love to see your pictures. We are doing this in March.

I agree with Jeffery...Trunk Bay all the way. You wont regret it. It is beautiful. We did it last April for the 1st time after about our 5th trip to St. Thomas. Now we know what we have been missing. It is supposedly one of the top 10 beaches in the world.

We actually have done both of these excursions - the Barefoot sail and snorkel is off of a catamaran - right? if so that was the one we did several years ago. The crew and cat and equipment were in very good condition and the snorkeling was really good.

Last week we went to Trunk bay - and It's in the top 10 list for a reason. Beautiful, the sand was awesome, the snorkeling off of the beach was really, really good, the water warm (for January) and clear. We were there early and it was not crowded. But as we were leaving hordes of folks from the other 5 cruise ships were arriving and it looked like the beach was going to get crowded.

I would do Trunk Bay again in a heartbeat - but if we do an eastern cruise again buck island is calling me too! I would do the barefoot sail and snorkel again too.

It sounds for you Trunk Bay is the winner - there is no downside. Like a prior post said - you should be able to do this easily on your own for about $20/person cheeper than the excursion we were on - and you can stay longer if you wish.

Thanks soooo much for posting this! I was interested in this excursion more than any other just because of the beautiful pictures I've seen on the internet of Trunk Bay!
I had the excursion booked already but I'm gonna cancel it and do it your way!

:wave2: I have been to St John many times and I would recommend that you skip Trunk Bay and go down the road to Cinnamon Bay Beach, it is free,it is larger and just as beautiful as Trunk Bay, but there will be only a quarter amount of the people.

Is the snorkling good at Cinnamon Bay Beach as well? I have to admit that one of the reasons I liked Trunk Bay so much was the great little "island" right off shore that had so much marine life.

Here are some pictures of Trunk Bay.

bumping...we are boarding the Magic on Feb 14 and I was trying to decide which ferry to take to St. John. Looking forward to more beach referals other than Trunk Bay.
