1st ive seen them, they don't carry them in the stores:confused:

so, anybody know exactly what r these valid on @ Universalpopcorn::

specifically wondering if they can be utilized for:

* park (admission/food/stores)

* resorts (food/room charges)

* citiwalk (restaurants/shops)

FYI, Giant Eagle offers fuel perk rewards on gift card purchases, every little bit of savings helps;)

They actually do sell them in the stores. (I have seen them throughout the South Hills as well as Crafton and Kennedy. I read the back of them one time but I can not remember what they say. I know that they had to be redeemed at US/IOA (not valid online.) The only thing I could find out about them on line was this from allears from 2006...

Universal Orlando Resort will be offering Gifts Cards just in time for the Holiday Season.

Beginning November 25th, Universal Orlando will offer gift cards that will put people in the middle of the action-either battling the forces of evil on the Revenge of The Mummy ride at Universal Studios or swinging high above New York City on The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man at Islands of Adventure. Thrill-seeking guests can use the gift card toward a ticket purchase to Universal theme parks, Universal Orlando merchandise or resort hotels.

The gift cards are available in $25 and $50 increments and are redeemable at Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios and City Walk. Guests exchange the gift card for Universal Dollars which then can be redeemed for food, beverage and merchandise throughout Universal Orlando Resort.

Both Universal Orlando gift cards are identifiable and easy to find. The amazing Spider-Man is featured on the $50 card while the Universal globe stands out on the $25 card. The gift cards will be sold at 2,200 store locations across Florida including: Publix and CVS Pharmacies.

BTW, I do not know what part of the area you are in but the Crafton and Kennedy Twp. stores both offer DOUBLE fuelperks all the time. I always get 30 gallons (between my truck and our extra containers) so that means a 12% discount on the cards. Great deal :thumbsup2

The gift cards are 'difficult' to use.

They cannot be used directly at ANY of the stores in the park.

You must go to guest services and redeem them for UO dollars (which do spend like cash and you get cash as change).

They really aren't worth it in my opinion simply because they do not work like a visa/MC or a 'normal' gift card.

Unless you are getting a discount on them (go you) or specifically giving them as a gift, I'd avoid them.

go steelers:goodvibes :banana:

i live in the complete other end of Allegheny County, shop in Westmoreland GE stores (when i do...hate to drive 20 miles to do grocery shopping:rolleyes1 sorta defeats the purpose), rarely bother w/fuel perks program....double perks?!? will have to check into this

still, thought it might be worth it to buy SW gift cards & when i went on site i found the U ones

i called the couple of stores closest to me to check, they don't stock them:confused: must be different offerings in each region:confused3

even though there is a bit of jumping thru hoops as to redemption, 12% is not too shabby, may give it a whirl once i figure out how much i'll need

ps like the idea of prepaying for some of the expenses too, ala disney gift cards

thanks to all who posted

I had a couple come in during HHN this year with $150 in gift cards. I couldn't resist asking how they came about to have so many (almost all $25.00 cards). The girl in the group said she buys them throughout the year and uses them like a Xmas Savings Club.... and uses them solely for drinks at HHN!

Go drinkers!

I looked at the Giant Eagle link posted above and it only looks like they sell in bulk. Any other stores down south that might sell them online? I know I have to trade them in but thinking about putting in easter basket and keeping as a souvenir, any other ideas for places??????:wizard:Going to harry potter!

Love your tag line, mine is often "Life is what happens while we are busy making plans!!!"

Remember...the original post was from two years ago so it's very possible things have changed since then.

I want to use the GC for admission and meal deal tickets. Will I need to trade in for Universal dollars for this purchase?

yes.

you have to take the gc to guest services.
you will receive UO money which can be used in the parks, etc.

you can later cash in the UO money for cash, if you wish.
