Mickey's Hand is in my Pocket II! & DH's P.O.V: pg 19-7/20 On Our Way Home....

Ty I just love the character photos and the way your DH gets more involved, so funny :rotfl:

And he's the one who always claims that he is not going to get involved and yet ends up with the best pictures and having the most fun :rotfl2:

So we head out to the park with every intention of watching the parade. But for some reason, we ended up getting caught up in the rides as everything seemed to be a walkon. We then headed towards the HM stopping by Big Thunder…which had just a small wait, but there was none at the HM…I can’t remember if we rode it just once or twice, but we did stop for pics:
IMG_1402.jpg

image069.jpg

And here’s one where I thought I was being funny using enhancements from photopass :rotfl:
image076.jpg

By now we’re missing the parade which I wasn’t thrilled with, but thought maybe we’d catch the next one (even though I promised DH we could leave at 10 to watch the Bears game). So into Fantasyland where it was still empty.

Small World Empty:
IMG_1404.jpg

Peter Pan with about ten people in line…I dragged DH on this and reminded him we’d never see lines this small again!
IMG_1403.jpg

IMG_1407.jpg

They also had the Carriage pics again, and DH did not want to wait in the long line when we first got into Fantasyland, but we noticed it had gone down some so I dragged him into it
image079.jpg

He also got a couple of nice shots of the old Skyway ride that they tried to decorate for Halloween.
IMG_1412.jpg

We then debated about where to watch the fireworks and ended up in front of the castle in the circular hub. All of the sudden a couple people come up to us and recognize DH’s Berwyn shirt. It was RachelTori and DisneyBride03 :wave2: from the AKL threads we belong to. I couldn’t believe they spotted us amongst all those people. We chatted with them for a couple of minutes and I wish I had thought to get a picture of all of us…next time.

Hallowishes was great as usual (once again we only have video on my video camera and no pics!) I was still trying to figure out how to get DH to stay for the second parade, and RachelTori and DisneyBride almost helped in that. They let us know that Space Mountain was a complete walk-on. So that meant we just had to run over there. We took the “Secret Candy” path and were met by the Queen of Hearts herself. The CM with her had all of us greeting her bow or courtesy to her and it was really cute….DH was wishing he had the whole thing on video instead of just a picture
IMG_1418.jpg

We then head right to Space Mountain…yeah – it says 5 minute wait just like the ladies said – BUT you think we would have learned after last night’s big lie, but nooooooooooooo we are sucked in again. And yes it was more like a twenty minute wait. By the time we came out they had changed the sign and we just looked at each other and figured we’d FP it when we came back again in a couple of days. At this point wanted to do more rides, and since we’d spent so much time at Space Mountain, we were going to miss the parade…but at least we weren’t leaving ;)

DH then wanted to ride the Astro Orbiter since again there was no wait. I am not fond of heights, but he eventually talked me into it by promising we could ride together. On the way up in the elevator I had a bunch of kids coughing on me…which may come back to bite me later……
So we squeeze into one of the cars…and learned our lesson…we need to ride separately next time! It was a bit of a tight squeeze. LOL

I then talk DH into a quick ride on Buzz Lightyear and he kicks my butt in points…I had almost nothing!!! We never did get around to a rematch. :headache:

A couple of photopass pics later

image083.jpg

After a quick cut through the Lunching pad (I think that was it) and we are back on Main Street with the second parade going on. I walked slowly although this second parade was also empty so there were not many obstacles on Main Street.

We made it back to the AKV just as the game was ending, but thankfully DH was not too upset by it. It was a long but fun day and tomorrow will be a long one as well as we head to Epcot for the whole day…but who knew there would be an unwelcome visitor coming along…….

WOW!

What a trip report!!! So detailed...love the editing! LOL Oh how I miss AKV, we had a 1 bdr after our cruise and were so spoiled with the balcony!

I did notice one of my DH's fave beers that you had at Ohana...he has to have it with lemon though!

Still hoping I can get DH to add on just a few points at AKV this month:) A girl can dream right?! lol
Was recently at Veseckys..had to get those kolacky's..(sp)? lol
Love the house pics at Christmas, can you believe I moved to Lockport, and I am still ina bungalow!!! LOL

Sounds like a great party, I love your PP photo that you edited so funny :rotfl:

Glad you managed to stay as late as you did :thumbsup2

Lockport, IL...:)

I use to live in OP's neck of the woods:)

I loved the MNSSHP, my first..doing it again..same time, next year...same partner in crime:)

Did you happen to get your AKV points?????? DH loves bungalows and that's one of the reasons we bought in Berwyn.

Thanks Jo - I had fun with PP this time ;)

TYRY,

loving the trippie...great pictures!! I will get down there for MNSSHP one of these days!!:rotfl: :cool1:

4 Days for us!!

Thanks so much...so how was your trip? I want to get down there for the holidays one of these years.

I hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday season so far! Now back to the show, or at least what I remember of it for the next couple of days.

This was the first night that I had not slept well on the trip. I kept feeling like I had wind blowing directly on me no matter which way I turned while sleeping. I’m not a fan of that anywhere let alone at WDW. So what did that mean….it meant I woke up with a sore throat and that “Uh-oh, Houston we have a problem” feeling. A sore throat usually means that the next day I’d have a cold. And I was blaming both the air blowing on me, and the kids who coughed on me on the elevator to Astro-Orbiter the night before

But – we are at WDW, so the itinerary must not be deviated from (ok in my mind) and today was our full Epcot park day. So I grabbed some orange juice to fight off the sickness and we grabbed a couple of quick photos around the lodge
IMG_1423.jpg

IMG_1426.jpg

IMG_1424.jpg

Because I wasn’t feeling well, we were well behind schedule for Epcot. And since we were already so late, I didn’t care about taking photos and being slow because the damage was already done. Plus my increasingly sickly feeling had me not really caring. Anyway, we stopped to take a couple of PP photos right at the entrance
image089.jpg

image096.jpg

And then went to visit our pics in the graveyard in the front of Epcot. I know most people HATE this, but we always get a kick out of it. This time even moreso as we compared the stone us to the pictures they were taken from….and it was really funny. First the DFIL looks like he’s missing teeth and has no hair! :rotfl:
IMG_1431.jpg

But in the real one, you can see he has both HA HA HA
BPWall.jpg

Ours isn’t much better:
IMG_1433.jpg

MTWall.jpg

When we got home and were showing the pictures to people we had even bigger laughs…take a look at the people around us…they are much worse off than we are! :rotfl2:

It was now about 1pm and we hit Spaceship Earth first since there was no wait for it at all and I wanted to see the new enhancements. The best part was when you had to choose a language, DFIL (in the car behind us) hit Portuguese by mistake…needless to say he does not speak Portuguese and that became the joke of the day – as we then grabbed him a map in Portuguese when we asked us for a map. Yes, we definitely amused ourselves.

If you haven’t been on the new Spaceship Earth and want to avoid the spoilers you may want to skip down a bit….I’ll wait…….although I wish I had known, I’d have been better prepared.

I really liked the enhancements to this ride…it truly cracked us up and DH even was able to get a few shots off:
IMG_1436.jpg

IMG_1438.jpg

IMG_1437.jpg

It was also fun that you could send postcards at the end…here’s ours
SE1.jpg

And here’s DIL’s – evidently in the future a hand will be grafted to DFIL’s head!
SEIL.jpg

After SE, I needed water as my body was really starting to ache a bit. That’s never a good sign for me, but I was still in complete denial of what was happening. Afterall we were at the happiest place on earth and that did not include getting sick…although I’m guessing the germs didn’t quiet understand that!

DH grabbed FP’s for Soarin’ while the rest of us headed over to The Seas as I wanted to ride the new Nemo ride.
WDW2008019.jpg

WDW2008021.jpg

I also wanted to see what Nebo was talking about when he said it was really dark inside. And was it ever…when you come in from the bright sun, there is no time for your eyes to adjust before you hop onto the clam shells. Well, maybe there would be time had there been a line, but like so much else, this was a walkon for us.

I’m not sure what we did after The Seas, but I know I got to sit for a bit, before it was back to the Land and Soarin. We used our FP’s and waited a whopping eleven minutes (ha!) between the time we walked in and when we got on the ride. Much better than the 35 minute standby time posted. Although the Land was still pretty empty.
IMG_1442.jpg

IMG_1441.jpg

It was then off to world showcase where we had many plans…which did not include my almost pass out in Germany and the appearance of Tinkerbern (yes I spelled that right!)

OMG the Epcot photo things are so funny, they are so different to the actual photo taken :rotfl:

The new SSE is really great isn't it, the bit at the end is so funny and how hilarious about your FIL and Portugese :lmao:

I hope you don't get sick but the passing out in Germany doesn't sound good!

I know - I'm so glad they still had the originals so we could see how different they really are.

I love the new SSE - We may have to try and ride it a bunch next time just to get all the different things. And I'll just say that Germany has a nice cub for taking a break ;)

Happy New Year everyone…hope everybody has a happy, healthy and safe 2009!

When we left off, it was finally time to head to WS. I was really not feeling great and we happened to walk by one of those McDonald Fry stands. Hmmmm, something actually smelled good to me. So on our way into one of the great culinary festivals, I have to have McDonald’s fries. We get them without incident, however, right before we hit Canada we are stopped by a guy with a microphone and camera crew. They want to know if they could interview us. Being the camera shy person I am :rotfl2: I immediately say “YES” before anyone else could say anything. They talk to DH and I and want to know why when headed into the F&WF we have McDonald’s fries???!! I think DH tried to say something, but I ended up taking over and for a few minutes actually forgot I had a fever and wanted to just curl up and sleep. See I just needed a camera in front of me and I would have been fine the whole trip :lmao:

From what I remember, we (ok me) gave them some goofy answers about using the fries to help soak up all the wine we about to drink or something like that. We actually spent about ten minutes with them. However, and I blame the sickness for this, we forgot to ask why we were on camera. They did ask our names and where we were from on camera, but didn’t have us sign releases or anything (didn’t even look like they had any.) Anyone out there have any idea what they were shooting video for? I’d love to know.

Here’s where things start to get a little fuzzy. I actually don’t remember doing anything until we ended up in Germany. DFIL and I wanted to check out all the rooms, because we found out they are set up like someone’s house as if you were walking through it. Except that I
1-Forgot my cards that explained where to start
2 – Thought I might be going to the ER.
When we got to Germany, I let the group know I just had to sit for a minute…I was still in utter and complete denial that my body would turn on me this way…every bone just ached and my throat was killing me. I sat down and I think DH got scared…he begged me to go back to the room and just rest. I do remember be rather mean and snapping that I just need to sit and rest for a minute. DIL’s tried too, but I wasn’t going to listen to anyone.

I think I ended up on the curb for about 30 minutes and I may have even fallen asleep for a couple of minutes with my head in my hands  I then decided I was all better (yeah right!) and that I could push on. DH was still trying to get me to go back to the room, but I think my fever and whatever else just made me even more stubborn and clouded my judgment and made me determined to go on. So we walk through Germany and as it turned out later had the rooms completely wrong! We did stop to take my tradition picture under the Teddy Bear

IMG_1443.jpg

See the water bottle – I was never without one that whole day.

I think we then wandered a bit more and then it was time for dinner at LeCellier. I really, really wish I could remember more about this dinner, because as bad I was feeling, I do remember laughing a lot. We checked in about five minutes early and ended up with only a ten minute wait. We were seated and Amanda was our server. This was DIL’s first time at LeCellier and they were excited to try it.

Amanda was very prompt at coming to get our drink orders and explain the menu and with the yummy bread and butter.

IMG_1445.jpg

IMG_1444.jpg

Our drinks arrive (ok – their drinks and my pop), but by another server asking if we were ready to order or still needed time. Hmmmm – wasn’t sure if we were switched or what was happening. We let them know we still needed a few minutes. Amanda made it back shortly after to take our order. We gave it to her and all seemed normal. Amanda did ask my DFIL if that was all he wanted and he said yes. For some reason, even in my haze, I questioned whether he had ordered a dinner or just the soup. He said he ordered the whole thing. Ok – but I didn’t hear it. Ours appetizers arrived in a timely fashion and were again delivered by a different waitperson. Didn’t really matter, as we had our food and that was all that mattered.

We finish up with the appetizers, they are cleared and we are waiting for dinner. We notice Amanda running back and forth with a table next to us that had a large party and just happened to be obnoxiously loud. And I’m from a loud Italian house and this even made me go Hmmmmmmmm.

Our food comes (again in a timely fashion…didn’t feel rushed or slow at all) which was again served by someone different and three of us have food. DFIL has nothing. Uh-oh…Even in my cloud I was right…I didn’t hear him order anything besides soup and neither did Amanda.

Just a couple of minutes later Amanda eventually made it back by to apologize for her lack of attention and to check on us. DFIL said he had placed an order but didn’t get it. She had nothing written down and it was then pointed out to him, by us his loving family, that I didn’t hear him order either. Thankfully everyone had had a few drinks and were in great moods. Amanda again apologized took his order and promised to get it out right away. We all were having a great laugh about this at this point. When DH’s food came out we remembered to get a picture of it – the only one we did remember! I think it was Halibut.

IMG_1447.jpg

Amanda also brought him a little surprise – a light up Tinkerbell. The best part was he actually wore it, and someone called him Tinkerbern...a takoff on his name. It set everyone off again into laughter.

IMG_1448.jpg

IMG_1458.jpg

Amanda eventually explained that the large party we had noticed next to us (you couldn’t help it…they were obnoxiously loud!) that as they were getting ready to leave, they got their bill, but then needed it all split up as some or all (can’t remember) were Cast Members. So it took a lot of time to get all that done. That’s why she kept having someone else cover us. She then brought DH and I champagne with a raspberry in it as she noticed our anniversary buttons – it was a nice touch.

IMG_1457.jpg

Even with all the craziness and all different people taking care of us- it was really enjoyable. It could have been a disaster, but Amanda really had us covered even if she couldn’t personally take care of us. My DFIL even asked for an autograph to remember her by :rotfl: when we were leaving…and she happily obliged.

IMG_1453.jpg

I think we must have thought about staying for Illuminations for about half a second, but I was ready to give up after dinner. It was time to go back and (for me) go to sleep!

We did try to get our “traditional” picture…it’s only traditional because we try every trip to recreate the first one…and we have yet to succeed.

2006 Version – we were waaaaay off

And finally the one from this year….we had the right place, just had the DIL’s reversed

Then just a couple of random ones on the way out as well…

IMG_1472.jpg

We made it back to the AKL and this time I made DH switch sides with me so he could have the air blowing on him now  . Tomorrow is DHS day and hopefully I’ll be all better and able to ride TSM!!! Well, at least it’s wishful thinking……

You know, I think the fries were just the fever talking... there's something about McD's fries that I find comforting when I'm sick... even the stomach flu seems to cry out for them... or maybe I'll just look for any excuse to eat fries?

Couldn't agree more...I also happen to crave White Castle Chicken sandwiches when I'm not feeling well....guess it's a good thing they didn't have a stand for that at Epcot :lmao:

I just had to quote the below since DH has been MIA around here:

:yay: Hi there tf1 . . . I'm still disappointed that I didn't keep up with my responses to her last Trip Report ...:guilty:

If I could find the time... :laundy: ...I'll put together my own entire report consisting only of my defense of it!
:rolleyes1

popcorn:: MORE TO COME . . .

Ummmm...we're waiting!!!:surfweb: :rotfl:

See I just needed a camera in front of me and I would have been fine the whole trip :lmao:
You'd have been good on my trip :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Sounds as though she did everything to make it right :thumbsup2

You'd have been good on my trip :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I went to school for this sort of thing and was doing theater at the age of three, but a camera in front of me and watch out :rotfl: Jo - any idea what they might have been shooting?

You're such a trooper, I hope you hot better

Ugh - how does eventually sound...I know - not good!

Sounds as though she did everything to make it right :thumbsup2

She really did - she could teach other servers everywhere a thing or two.

This is where things start to get shaky for a couple of days. If DH doesn’t jump in, the next couple parts will be short!!! BUT here’s what I do remember and it wasn’t pretty…..:faint:

I had a really rough night of sleep. Even though we had switched sides, I still had air blowing on me…not a good thing. This was also the night my fever FINALLY broke, which meant I went from melting to shivering for a couple of hours. When we finally did get up my throat was on FIRE!!! Now most sane level headed people at this point would have gone to seek a doctor. Well, I guess the sane level headed TyRy got left in Chicago, because this one sure wasn’t thinking straight.

So now I have a throat that’s killing me, a fever and the insane part of my brain has convinced the sane part that I’m still “only” catching a cold. (Side note here – I know what strep or other bad throat things feel like as I had strep at least twice a year growing up – this is why I know my brain was taken over by the crazy side :rotfl: :confused3 ) Perhaps it was because this was our first trip “home”, or that I had been planning the trip for a year and a half, or that things must go perfect and not get away from my itinerary, or just the fact we were at Disney and I do NOT get sick at Disney. I grabbed tea for breakfast...ahhhh I can actually drink something. See, all will be ok, I won't dehydrate as long as drink hot tea with about a pound of sugar and 10 lemons (I'm not a big tea drinker.)

I ask DH to please take me to Walgreens so I could get some cold medicines. I had no idea that Walgreens was located in Georgia :rotfl2:. Ok- maybe not that far, but it seemed like it took us forever to get there. I head right for the pharmacy counter, since I only buy the cold medicines with the Psedoblahblah in it….you know, the stuff all the meth users started buying to make meth and forced drug companies to change the formula to something that doesn’t work at all. And if it has Pseudblahblah in it, it’s behind the counter. I see my Tylenol Cold behind the pharmacy counter and rejoice :cool1: …I will now get all better. I go up to ask for that and a behind the counter NyQuil. They grab the NyQuil but tell me they can’t sell me the Tylenol cold…WHAT!!!!:scared1: I know they tried to explain to me why, but I was not paying attention…I think I was too busy begging for it anyway. DH finally comes over and I end up just getting the NyQuil, fine…I’ll just keep taking that. DH takes forever to buy whatever he wanted and we are finally back on our way from Georgia to AKL.

We are so close you can see the roof line of AKL and DH suddenly declares that he forgot some drinks he paid for at Walgreens. I’m really feeling horrible and just wanted to crawl back into bed. DMIL, who is with us, suggests dropping us off at the hotel, but DH decides not to. At this point I really debated pushing him out of the car and grabbing the wheel myself. Except I didn’t have the strength to do that, although I played it over and over in my mind for a bit :lmao:  . So it was back on that forever drive to get his Gatorades or whatever he bought and then finally back to AKL. They all went off to DHS, while some part of sane Ty took back over and I just stayed at the Lodge……

Hi TyRy! :wave2:
I finally got all caught up on your TR and I'm loving it! I have found myself laughing out loud several times!

I am very glad to hear doing TiW saved you so much money versus the DDP. We are doing TiW for the first time on our trip in a few days. Then we will use it again in December with our trip back.

Loving all your pictures - esp those of DVC! I have heard the BWV REALLY need an update, and your review confirmed that again. DH and I want to stay there sometime, but I really think we will be disappointed until they get refurbed, esp compared to the beauty of AKV.

That is so neat how you ran into RachelTori and DisneyBride03! It's a small world, eh? ;)

Looking forward to more - I hope you start to feel better soon, being sick on vacation STINKS. DH, DS and I were ALL sick on our November trip. :sad2: But, I do have to say, it's better to be sick at Disney than sick at home!

ETA: The hand, and your comment about the hand, growing out of your FIL's head from SE made me laugh SO hard!!!!!! I am still giggling thinking of that picture....

Jo - any idea what they might have been shooting?
No sorry, they have just launched the new website maybe it's on there :confused3 Or maybe for a cooking special :confused3

or just the fact we were at Disney and I do NOT get sick at Disney.
So true!!!! Why wouldn't they sell you the medicine? I'm glad you got the other stuff though and I hoped it worked!

Hi TyRy! :wave2:
I finally got all caught up on your TR and I'm loving it! I have found myself laughing out loud several times!

:welcome: brookelizabeth and thank you - glad you are enjoying it!

I am very glad to hear doing TiW saved you so much money versus the DDP. We are doing TiW for the first time on our trip in a few days. Then we will use it again in December with our trip back.

I did the math backwards and forwards and we came out $300 ahead using TIW than if we used the DDP. part of it is probably becuase we like appetizers better than desserts.

Loving all your pictures - esp those of DVC! I have heard the BWV REALLY need an update, and your review confirmed that again. DH and I want to stay there sometime, but I really think we will be disappointed until they get refurbed, esp compared to the beauty of AKV.

Thank you - I wish I had a better computer to also convert the hours of video I shot. Even though BW is in need of an update, we really loved the location. But AKV is just so relaxing...

I know it's corny, but it is a small world. How the ladies spotted us still amazes me. I may have to get DH more of the Berwyn shirts so he has one to wear every day so our Dis friends can find us. :rotfl:

It is better to be sick there - I think it gives you strength to keep moving..something you never would have done at home. :lmao: And I still have nooooo idea how DFIL ended up with a hand out of his head, I bet we couldn't recreate that if we tried. :confused3

No sorry, they have just launched the new website maybe it's on there :confused3 Or maybe for a cooking special :confused3

So true!!!! Why wouldn't they sell you the medicine? I'm glad you got the other stuff though and I hoped it worked!

Thanks Jo - we'll just keep an eye out and see if we happen to pop up anywhere. The pharmacy was trying to tell me they were no longer selling the Tylenol cold, no recall, no anything, just they were no longer able to sell it. Well then put it out of site so people like me who need meds with Pseudoblahblah (one of these days I'll get the spelling of the correct ingredient! ;) ) don't see it and get their hopes up. I almost called my dad in Chicago and had him go and buy up as much as he could before it was gone. Once we got home, they were still selling it just fine.
