March Crowds

How are the crowds at Disney World in March. We are going the 9th to the 13th. We have always going with the kids in June, so we were wondering if the crowds would be the same as June or more or less or ???

We are also going during that time frame, and I'm curious too.
We've been during early December and all months of summer, but never during the dreaded "SPRING BREAK." We'll be there from 7-16, so we plan to take it easy and not make this a "commando" trip, but still curious about the crowds. And the weather.

We are going March 14-20 and our last 2 trips were at the end of August (we managed to be lucky with several hurricanes not hitting the Orlando area).

I was there last march, 3rd week of march and it wasn't too bad at all. I thought it was less people than my december trip (2nd week of dec.)

March is crowded, I hate to tell you, although not as bad as on a holiday, like Christmas. Basically, all of March is spring break for someone somewhere, usually college age kids and their families. If you have tried recently to get a studio/one bedroom in March, you already know it's crowded. I have been trying for 7 months to pick up one night(3-8-09) in the middle of my reservations, and they can't be had. Something big must be going on somewhere at Disney, since most other days have something available somewhere. It's usually nice weather, though, usually 70-80 degrees during the day, although cool at night. It's a really nice time to have a vacation! Parks close early, around 7 or 8, and it gets dark earlier, so the nights are longer. You won't want to swim in the evenings either. Bring sweats for the evening weather, and there should be rain during the day. You will need both summer and winter clothing, ponchos for rain, and plans to do something else if it rains hard. The rain isn't warm at that time of year, so you will spend some days shopping or going to the movies.;)

Yep it is crowded with all the southern schools on Spring Break....but you can get a day here and there where it is not crowded....also there are Cheerleading and Dance compitions going on(they close Indy Jones theater on one of those Sat which adds to the crowding at DHS...lots of girls is groups roaming and screaming....We usually go in March too. They at least moved the ESPN weekend to a week earlier but I think they added a marathon or race or something I think on one of the early weekends.

When I initially planned my trip for March (in late December), I called MS to see what would be the "slowest" time for reservations. She told me the first two weeks of March would be slower than the second two. That being said, we wanted to stay at either entire time at BW or split between BW and AKV from 3/11-3/15. We did get 2BR BW on Fri and Sat, but only 2BR openings for Wed and Thurs were at SSR.

We were told this as well. We booked a 2-bdrm and a 1-bdrm (AKV) at 7 months out and had no problem at all. The crowds don't really bother me as much as the heat so I hope we picked the right time for cooler temperatures.

We'll be there the 15-22. That week is Spring Break for the Birmingham, AL area and others (Houston, TX, I think, as well)...
